We believed that the United States of America,  built as it is on the principles of liberty and   freedom and civil rights, would never spit us  out. We never imagined that we would be sitting   here in this committee room because of the kind  of vile and terrible anti-Semitism which is being   directed at us on campuses. A fundamental  Jewish ethic is to be there for those who   are otherwise unsupported. Today we need their  help and we can't find them. The Jewish people   are a very persecuted people, but they are  also long-lasting, resilient, and that's the   most fundamental message that we as a community  have to take home, which is, we're committed,   we're going to continue. Looming anti-Semitism  is a major issue that has to be dealt with.  We are not going to allow it to distract us from  the need to engage the community primarily, more   strongly in Torah and mitzvot. Ki B’or panecha  netata lanu Hashem elokeinu toras chaim, by   the radiance of your presence, Hashem, you  gave us a Toras Chaim, the Torah of life.   The Torah informs our lives. The Torah shapes  it. What could be more meaningful than really   resolving that problem you had in the Gemara?  What could be more fulfilling and uplifting   than some deeper understanding into Hashem’s  world? If we want other people not to have   hate and express hate for Jews, then we Jews  must not have hate and express hate for Jews.   Whether those Jews are to our left or to our  right, or whatever other label we want to put,   we have to make sure that in us, between us,  we are examples and practitioners of ahavas   Yisrael. There's so much more to be done and  with Hashem's help, we’re just getting started.
