We want to uphold our way, gezunterheyt, let's
uphold our way. Let's go and promote our way.
But why does upholding our way mean that we have
to say that the other way has no place and has
no room? At a time when we so need each other,
and we so need to be connected to each other,
may it bring us together so that the peace that
we bring amongst ourselves also be reflected in
a peace, a true peace, that surrounds Klal
Yisrael. It does not say in anybody's Torah,
in anybody's siddur, "Torah tziva lanu morashah
kehillat New Jersey," but sometimes we hear
it that way. Torah belongs to every member
of the Jewish community. Everything we do,
we need to be thinking about how we make the
experience of Yiddishkeit, of Jewish life,
of Jewish learning more embracing, more compelling
for the type of Torah that will allow every member
of that Jewish community to find its place in that
critical and invaluable heritage. Our purpose,
our primary mission is to elevate the Torah
u'Mitzvot, the Torah, the religious, the Jewish
engagement of our community. We will overcome the
tendency of tension, of division, of competition
that stands so much in the way of the growth
and strength of Klal Yisrael, of our community.
