Idolatry is worshiping the means as the end. Anytime that you bend knee physically, emotionally, psychologically, anytime that you put your energy, your hopes, your fears into something this worldly, anytime that you prescribe independent powers anywhere other than in Hashem and the God of Israel, the creator of heaven and earth, anytime, that is idolatry. And this should give us pause because if we're honest, all of a sudden, many of us may have just realized that we may not be as innocent of the sin of idolatry as we once thought. We may be recognizing that we have idols in our lives that we never even knew about. I can tell you that I do.
