Love is I am bound to you
even when it's hard, especially when
it's hard.
Not despite the struggle, but through
it.
That's how Moshe loved Israel. That's
how the prophets loved Israel. And that
is how God loves Israel. And that that
brings me to our Torah portion because
this whole portion
and really the entire book of Vayikra is
exactly about this love.
And you know, I was like reading through
the portion and the very first verse and
I was like, "Wow, it's so such a gift
from Hashem that the first word of the
first verse is reflecting exactly what
I'm trying to say here." And then I
realized that maybe every verse of the
entire Torah, if you look deeply within
it, it's all right there. Right? The
book as a whole and our portion
specifically starts with that single
word.
Vayikra
and he called.
Chapter 1, verse 1.
Right? Vayikra el Moshe vayidaber Hashem
elav ohel moed lemor. And he called to
Moses and the Lord speaks to him from
the tent of meeting saying. And Rashi,
the great commentator, the pred
preeminent of all commentators points
out the very first words.
Vayikra from lashon chiba
calling
is a language of affection.
Right? A language of closeness.
A language of love.
