The Soul of Israel: When Children Hear We Love Them Through Someone Else

Land of Israel in thousands of years and now we're like rebuilding in the mountains of Utah what it is to build a conscious community it's like unbelievable right here in the mountains of Judah a Judea and incredible so this but what I wanted to talk about briefly today discuss with you with all our listeners and viewers if something that I is very much close to my heart because from the shul from the synagogue where we're broadcasting we have I started a few months ago a parenting class and to me it's been the most personal class of someone who's privileged to be of ABBA for precious girls and into you into so many of our friends that are right now really you know in what we say the parsha we're in the blender we're always constantly trying very hard to be to be connecting to becoming better parents and the classes are not just like it's not just methods of becoming a better parent it's understanding what God had in mind when he created the concept of parenting and looking at it through that these classes are as well available we recap them after Shabbos and it's on my soundcloud page which I'm more than happy to anyone for anyone to come and join us learn there but what I want to do with today's segment through the parish Africa through the portion of the week is look at something else very much with parenting we every year when it comes to this very bizarre and wacky Persia called Parshat Ballack I'm reminded of a Torah that our teacher by David Zeller used to always say every year and he used to quote the Tolna Rebbe the Rebbe of tone of the maggot of Tona exists right now in the world but really this parsha is very very bizarre oddly enough one of the most bizarre things about this parsha is that even if you would have removed this Torah portion out of the Torah god forbid but let's say you would and you would just continue with the next story which is the story of Pym cliffs there'd be no problem with this outline the story line about nothing would have changed chronology everything you can't say about any other party on the Torah this parsha you remove it it's fine smooth sailing you keep on going there's no there are no issues which makes the question even more bizarre then why is it so important if it really doesn't make any difference to make you know what what is the inion here it could have easily been completely deleted pushed off to another area whatever it is very very bizarre and this got me thinking a lot last year and I'm continuing to start this year and I hope and pray and I think that with the right cabanas in mind we could learn something so tremendously valuable important and essential for all our relationships and life but specifically between that between the core relationship between parents and children well guys like our age where rates you know families in the middle evident where a parent and we're still a child versus it's such a not sure who we're parents being who were a child to sometimes it gets confusing but this cut this you know the relationship between parents and children is something that it never ends ever you're always viewed as a parent or as a child so having said all that there's something very very beautiful I want to share an I forgotten whose name I heard it but it's probably in a name of a few people they should forgive me but it's just a bunch of thoughts coming out of the heart pouring pouring right out of the heart you know as much as I tell my children that I love them when they hear about it from someone else it does something to them for example like I get on my daughter I love you the most loving the most and then if someone plays for her a recording of a concert I did in Toronto I think that's actually what happened last time and she heard that I was talking about her not crazy about her it it touched her profoundly and much more deeper way it seems than me looking at her in the face thing you know I love you and I love you because somehow when I hear about it from a third party that it happens it somehow does something to I can't really explain it but it does something to so what are we here that in our passion and remember when did I miss well learn about what happened in partial bollock when did they hear about this story I don't know let's say the first time they had to learn the Torah which was they were learning the Torah and then room now you got to fix this you got to be nicer to your mother but like when I'm actually just speaking what I really think about them from an objective outside then they get to see accents particle really loves Jewish people is there anything about it correct yeah we were really stuck in a place of he's probably not so happy with us right for very good reasons over and over again throughout this whole book of a minbar and it's almost like pleasure but like is this like breath and say okay let's remove ourselves from the picture and eventually we're going to hear about this story and when we hear that God is telling someone else I love these people so much you just can't touch them if oh we could make it through any desert for 40 years four thousand years actually we made it for 2,000 years in a desert yeah because somehow we kind of were reading Parshat bollock when at least made sense and hearing that despite everything you still love Nicholas Bhonsle now one of the exercises we did in the parenting class and with we asked very tough questions and questions that are very uncomfortable and questions that push us to really be real with what we think it what's really going on at home and one of the things that we asked ourselves in the question in the classes if you were bold enough to be as real as possible and we what do you think your child would say when we'd ask them the following question what do your parents think of you what do you think your parents think of you and we always want to say oh they know I love them so much they know how much I'm crazy about them but it's not always the case when we go into the child that still exists within us or going through the 12 year old Jeremy with 12 year old or whatever it is remember what age it is and say well what did you think then what do you think your parents think about you and because we're all so wrapped up constantly in this world of chemo from having to educate and always pointing out the good and the bad and saying going the right way versus staying away from the wrong way the that get what gets lost is oh I'd love you to death I'm crazy about you I just have to keep on showing you what to do and what not to do and that's what's happening to us in the desert it's much like a father and there's children that keep on messing up and we keep on getting patched botched Andy this means a little smack a little smack but then there's moments that it's almost like as much as ballot can be removed from the Torah and there'd be no problem with continuing the story can you imagine surviving without hearing God telling someone else do you know that you can't touch these people not only is Bala important to be read it's almost impossible for us it would have been impossible for us to continue the and I think that that's a unconditional love that a parent has to show his child that no matter where you are if you see it if you don't see it with the teachers when you're there when you're not there that a parent always has to kind of let their child know there's an unconditional - here I have your back in front of you I have your back behind you I have your back well you don't even know that I have your back and I think to create that bond I got Asheboro who needed to say that does as well that he has our back no matter if we see it or if we don't see it right and then I think also like we should also take into mind as parents is that there's never the wrong up is never a a justified missed opportunity of telling someone else how precious your children are to you because you never know if your child will hear that from someone else it's not about going out of your way oh my god you don't know how much just a matter of when you when you're being real and someone asks you what's life like and what are you up to right now at that moment that's in law - mamas profess your love or the privilege you feel because the amazing gift of having children would just feel like that's exactly what this place is all about such mass confusion on the world and yet when I hear those words from that God said that about me the confusion has nothing over me it can't touch me nothing can touch me in that moment so I give you a bra huh and I give myself a bra and I give all our viewers about the moving you that are watching the view that will watch those of you that are conscious man weeks can go by mums just may go by and we may never say to our children that we love them but every time they make a mistake we'll fix them right away but the fact that there has to be way more times that we say positive things to our shows as to way outweigh the negative pouches that we give them the negative fixings that we have to like correct them obviously we're there coach were their teacher we're their mentor so if they're doing something wrong we have to correct them but we always have to have that balance to know that if we're not holding on to the Tree of Life we're not giving our children life with like words of water and not words of fire and we're not like constantly empowering them and we're only just kind of letting the currents like kids do something wrong so I'm just so REM I'm just flowing they do is there I got to fix them and we're not really consciously choosing how to parent then I will be swept away with the currents of life owners if I want to give one more breath huh at the homes we're raising with this kind of famous will enable us with full confidence be up to that challenge of asking our children what do you think your children think what do you think your children how do they view you meaning what do they think you think about them and with full confidence not haughtiness say oh but my children they know that they're untouchable keep our local that they know that that they they they're they're raised in a world of learning about God not only believing that their parents think that about them but that we raised them with the children yeah there's always little things that need to be worked on I can't tell you anything wrong because these are my precious children that are untouched and that's something that it's very hard for us to really feel with all the patches we've been getting over the years but enough at that time and now it's time to really take part of bollock and realize how essential it is for the chronology and for our children's lives as well you could go a day with your children not finding out how much you love them just makes their journey harder wouldn't you take every opportunity every single opportunity you can for your children to know that they love you that's precious public and that's our journey in the desert and there's lots of shame that's what we're giving over to our children doing their very best they're growing they're getting stronger and to know that I kind of sparkle react all of us have challenges and all the skills that we failed him and we fail ourselves but Curtis
