[Music]
and a lot reading welcome to another
week of bring Shabbat home it is so
awesome to be back with you again
another week I don't know how you feel
but the days are busier but they're
still speeding by we're entering into
this incredible period of time both in
our seasons the weather is getting
better but also in this feel the world I
feel is coming back to a place of Hope
of expectations of vision there's still
uncertainty but it's different its
measured optimism and it's not to be
with you again here it's an honor to be
able to spend this time again the free
Shabbat time that we spend together and
it's so critical Shabbat is such a
critical piece to all of this
and I was talking to somebody this week
and they told me this incredible story
that I want to share with you so you
remember back in the old days when I
mean the always I mean like four months
ago March was called the month of
madness for those that are following
March Madness was used to be the time in
which we all got crazy about college
basketball now back then we thought
madness was like crazy teams hitting
shots and winning games this year like
this year really took the cake from
March Madness I don't think we ever go
back to March Madness again but that was
the days where we used to watch at least
for me watch college teams I never
followed before and buzzer-beaters and
all that world as a great coach in the
old days and I heard this story this
week and I was thinking about you guys
that's right thank you to the Hess
family I did shave just a shot shabbat
shalom do he's a great coach out there
he coached the Michigan State Spartans
his name was Tom Izzo and one year Tom
Izzo walked into his walked into his his
team first practice looked around and
saw something it sort of threw him off
he noticed that his teammates his
players were incredibly talented and he
watched him play a little bit and he
said wait a second something's off
they're talented and they've got
everything they need to win a
championship but this
be missing from this team he couldn't
put his finger on it the next practice
is the first practice of the season this
is the beginning this is months before
they win the championship the next
practice he comes in when the boys come
in they walk around and there's no
basketballs they're looking left looking
right to like coach where's the balls he
says we're not we're not playing with
balls today he's like well how do you
play basket the basketball he's like
line up he goes we cooked what are we
doing drills he's like we're not running
they're like what are we doing here he
goes line up and he had them line up by
the foul line and on cue he turned to
his assistant coach and he has assistant
coach go to the closet right behind the
gym and he comes out with a ladder now
there's a practice that college
basketball players have when you win the
tournament the championship game the
custom is they take out a ladder and
each player climbs the ladder and cuts a
piece of the net it's called cutting the
Nets that's the final sign of the
champion and he has his assistant come
out with a ladder I mean the players are
looking going the ladder and he puts the
ladder underneath and Tom Izzo turns to
his first player and goes gives him a
scissor and goes go cut the Nets he goes
coach we didn't start practicing this is
what we do when win the championship he
goes go cut the Nets and each player
climbs up on the thing and cuts a piece
of the net and one by one by one they
cut the nets and after each person comes
out the net in his hands he says - he
says to them you can't play like a
champion if you can't see like a
champion I want you to hold this and see
yourself as a champion see what's ahead
of you and believe you can get there but
if you if you can't see it
you can't play it that team went on that
year to win the NCAA championships and I
was speaking this week to a good friend
of mine and we were talking about this
period of time to win right now spring
what may is supposed to be even what
we're in right now with this whole virus
situation as companies and as countries
and estates begin to gingerly open up in
our lives how do we become great we have
to see it and in many ways that's what
Shabbat is all about you see all week
we're so busy doing we're so busy
playing that sometimes we forget to see
that's what my manner should look like
that's what my parent thing should look
like that's what my life should look
like
that's how I should allocate my time
that's the kindness that's the
resilience sometimes we're so busy in
the game of life we never take a second
out to cut the nets that's what Shabbat
is that's what we're doing together
right here and with God's help hopefully
every week until we see the Messiah
that's what we are celebrating God says
listen I put you on this earth you got
to survive I put you on this earth to
thrive to be incredible and sometimes to
be incredible you got to see it before
you do it I'm gonna take you to give you
a day take the day off
but now off take the day in spend some
time seeing the nets and cutting them
down in your head and when you come back
into your week you'll play a lot harder
and so it's an honor to be here it's an
honor to sort of mark the time with you
to start this process together every
week and starting it right now and I got
to tell you we've got a killer shell a
killer show the project inspired Dream
Team that is pulling all the strings
here making it at all work has been
working tirelessly to get you stars and
we've got them we get them every week
and we keep on filling it up for you
guys and so I'm so pumped for to the
show we've got a couple things going on
just to remind you
remember we got a Kahoot game coming up
soon you don't want to miss the Kahoot
game it's a great way to compete in
general but if you're like my family
compete with the people in your family
but to do it once we get rolling in it
it's gonna be too hard so do it now go
to Kahoot take out your phones go to
Kahoot IT download the app so when we
get ready to roll you're ready to roll
we've got incredible speakers we got our
virtual mph re here we've got Eve Levy
coming up we've got Rabbi David mark
wits we've got a cooking cooking
sensation Jamie Geller coming up we've
got a lot of great things and it's all
coming up now so get ready in many cases
what we're doing this week is we're
talking about future but we're also
remembering the past les past week we
had a great holiday Laden a melt lane
named Lag Ba'Omer and a lot Vollmer
really was the beginning of the turn of
the jewish people that really started to
understand each other more respecting
each other more build friendship and
connections more we marked at this past
week and we're gonna talk about a lot in
the show and of course before we get in

could download some project inspired
calm I'm sure if you want a hard copy if
you reach out the project inspire
they'll make it happen these guys are
masters okay up to our first guest right
now I got to tell you I've known this
individual my whole life we've went to
camp together and I never would have
known then that rabbi far he
continues was firstly he was then and he
continues to be an incredible light in
the Jewish people are by far he I was
there in London England when he just
tore the place up and now he's back in
New York
he's the rabbi in the sapphir shul in
New York and he's one of my favorite
people on earth
honestly I listen to him I'm inspired by
him I love him and it's such an honor to
have him and I am excited to give you
the one and only Rabbi Shmuel on Rabbi
fari shabbat shalom first of all
my first shabbat shalom has to go out to
charlie Harare one of my absolute best
friends someone who is indefatigable you
don't get to use that word often for the
Jewish people so thank you for having us
here and the project inspired for making
these this and so many other amazing
events happen so I was given a few
minutes to talk to you about Shabbat or
to kind of guide us into this beautiful
experience of having Shabbat at home
bring Shabbat home and something struck
me I don't know you guys are spending as
much time online as I am I'm from one
zoom to the next from one class to the
next doing stuff all over social media
so you get to see a lot of the things
that come up and some of the stuff that
Corona has brought out I mean it's
brought out a lot of terrible things but
the creativity that Corona has like
engendered in the human race is beyond I
don't know if you guys have seen that
you know that little scene of this woman
goes to visit her like really old mother
on Mother's Day and they've made this
giant mijita
out of plastic with like plastic arms
going out this way and the moms on one
side and this woman sticks her arms in
and it's just mas stick your arms in and
it is like another cut out of plastic
and the mom sticks her arms in and
they're both completely encased in
plastic giving each other a giant
Mother's Day hug I mean come on that's
ingenious right it's amazing and then I
saw something else and it really is what
I want to speak to you about today for
the few minutes of yet it's something
from Coors Light Coors Light as creator
created something called a clone tool
teachers are gonna hate me for this all
right
bosses are gonna hate me for this but
students and workers are gonna love me
for this they have this tool which
creates a 30-second looped video of you
sitting in front of the zoom screen
going like this so you could effectively
just walk away from your screen and what
Coors Light did with this tool was to
allow someone to have 30 seconds so they
could run to the fridge grab their
favorite beer and get back and not have
their boss or their teacher realize that
they've gone AWOL for 30 seconds now the
creativity Bravo love it amazing
teachers caught on very quickly that
there was a static picture of you like
this so they realized exactly
so the video was crucial crucial bit to
be able to get away but think of the
payoff and this to me I think is
something that I want to speak about
with you guys what does it mean to bring
Shabbat home I don't know if any of you
has ever done this before but I'm the
worst person to send to a grocery store
cuz you'll send me to Costco or to
whoever I will come back with so much
stuff that we have nowhere to store it
or put it except for the things that I
actually was sent to go get cuz I got
distracted like oh my gosh a box of
cereal that feeds an army in one box
come on who doesn't want that
Costco is amazing it was like created
for Giants to go shopping it fantastic
so Clone Wars effectively for me said
one thing about Shabab you're gonna go
bring chef at home but what is Shabbos
what are you gonna go buy or are you
gonna be like me go out try and bring
Shabbat and but get so busy bringing
seven types of homos and three types of
kugel and four types of herring and six
types of Mazza and Caban LACMA gene that
what winds up happening is you brought
everything home except for Shabbat I
think what Shabbat is is the opposite of
Coors Light sorry course Clone Wars is
to create a fake you to put something in
place that looks just like you it can
fool your closest friends your boss your
teacher but it isn't you it's you on a
loop you making the same nod twist
paying attention in a loop but that
clone wars that clone tool excuse me
which is exactly the same exactly the
same as you is actually just the
recording going through the same motions
again and again the danger of our world
when we have to go work because we do
when we have to take kids to school
because we do except for now because we
have to do the shopping because we do
there's a million things we have to do
the danger is not that we not that we
stop doing those things it's that we
lose ourselves in those things you know
if you go on a date and you treat your
date in the most beautiful
way and you smell good and you've shaved
and you're wearing a tie and United
pyjamas like most of us for three weeks
in a row now okay you've made yourself
out to be your best you speak nicely you
don't interrupt you're kind you're
courteous you might think that the real
you is back at home in sweatpants and
the fake you is out on a date the real
you is someone that makes those sort of
mistakes the real you is someone doesn't
concentrate during Shmona astray the
real you is the person that makes all
you know the mistakes at home but thank
you is the one that you present when
you're presenting your very best but
actually the opposite is true this clone
tool that creates a fake robot of you
that's what we're trying to get away
from when we have Shabbat so what do we
do how are we when the phone isn't
ringing when we don't have what the jobs
when there isn't a school run what will
we be like in that space and that my
friends is the job of Shabbat you know
if you ever listened to a documentary or
a TV show or a history show or even a
video that you'd watch on to shava out
there's always mood music there's a
composer that makes music specifically
for that piece to make you feel happy or
sad or to make you realize that
something scary is about to come create
anxiety or nervousness or tension or
hope you speak to the composer and
invariably he's very stuffy about it and
you say why did you compose this piece
of music and you'd say to you Oh Charlie
in her eye I just felt that it captured
the essence of potato chips like you
know he says some rubbish that just
action doesn't make sense that anyone
but him but but that's how he composes
he chooses the music the song for that
piece but for us as Jews there's a song
by the way for all of the holidays
there's a song a score a background
piece for Shabbat it's called mizmor
Shir Leo Mustafa here is the song of
Shabbat so you'd think the song of Shaba
will get you in the zone for Shabbat
let's pay attention to what it actually
says here is the song of Shabbat told
Leo it's great to give thanks to God
everything is wonderful and it carries
on lodg'd Bob Bakker has better to speak
of your kindnesses in the day and on and
on and on beautiful that Hashem and then
the psalmist takes a left Ernie's like
so when wicked people like when they
have the upper hand yeah that's not
gonna carry on and righteous people
doesn't seem like they're not getting
they're getting the short end of the
stick don't worry Hashem will sort that
in the end what does that have to do
with Shabbat let's get back to talking
about good food and family and the
answer is that often we're encouraged
not to be our highest or best self
because we think that if we're not being
selfish if we're not cutting somebody
off to get our piece in if we're not
putting ourselves first online who's
gonna look out for who's gonna look out
me if I'm not looking out for me but
ultimately says the MS Moshe glioma
Shabbat relax get home take it easy
start to think about your best self what
is the best dad look like what is the
best husband or wife look like and all
of that is dependent on the effort that
you put in I want to share with you an
amazing kedusha I just thought of this
afternoon the word spelled Sheen bit
tough but there's something that
precedes Shabbat you know what will
decide if you have a beautiful Shabbat
or not look what happens before Shabbat
the letters before Shabbat the letter
before Sheen is rich the letter for bet
is Alice the letter before Todd is Sheen
what comes before Shabbat is rush the
head space the head that you walk into
Shabbat with is gonna be what Shabbat is
like if you're playing a Shabbat
playlist before you walk in like the
head playing you're gonna be in a museum
as you walk into Chava
if nothing is ready and everything is
hairy you're gonna feel stress before
Shabbat so where is your head before
Shabbat comes in so the letters before
Shabbat is rush
what is the letters after Shabbat when a
person has done Shabbat in the proper
way if the scene is tough if the bed
gimel if the tasks the last letter is
ali taga we have that word in / cavort
with the east ramesh bottarga he who
uses targa means a crown when a person
uses Shabbat the proper way when they're
not trying to manipulate people and
situations and things to serve them they
actually after letting things go why end
up wearing the crown of having
experienced the Shabbat of being the
real self not the clone tool
not the person you think you need to be
not the person that's gonna get the
things for you but the real you that's
what it means I hope and I pray as we go
into this amazing speakers hosted by
Charlie around the best of all hosts
you're not the Lord of hosts that's how
Jen but other than the Lord of hosts
you're right there charlie
all right love you radish and we will
walk into the shava leave our cares
behind be the people that are the are
our best selves and recognize that that
is who we really are and that's how
Judaism expects us ultimately to get to
become bachelor/bachelorette well you're
awesome thank you so much for your
awesome awesome words and that's exactly
right come in with your best self you
know as we were talking in the beginning
I was thinking about I told here a
couple of weeks ago the story of how I
won the greatest moment with my children
came recently when I caught my
nine-year-old skipping out of class
which is his bedroom and I realized that
he figured out how to take a screenshot
of himself and he put it on his screen
so I mean the level of joy that I got
just by him doing that was unbelievable
no it happened to be the next week I kid
you not I was on the phone with his
principal and we but something totally
different him that would have been me
growing up my mom would've been on the
phone so I said to him I heard of a kid
that did this you know just think I feel
like a head job like we got your back
and this principals the best guy in the
world who looks me goes screenshots he's
like we've got kids running loops like
these like we're like coarse bunch of
Jewish kids who are like in like sixth
grade I don't think the chem website has
exactly right thank you so much for your
kind words we should be so really all of
us should be our best selves and then
thank you for bringing us in hopefully
we going the right with the right head
we've come out with the crown thank you
for who you are and what you do and I
know that you've got a class now good
luck and thanks for all that you do for
us thank you
shabbat shalom before we go on to the
next we have a great guest coming up

got the nation all of us as far as we
all were just one zoom call away that
should be our new tagline our next guest
is an incredible woman
Danielle Morris is with us right now
here she is
she comes from H Thornhill proj inspired
Toronto Danielle welcome to the show
thanks so much for being here thanks for
the invitation
so I know that you've you've gotten
involved I know that you in addition to
all that you do
there's something about how that you
like and talk to us a little bit about
your connection now to the one of the
greatest foods at least did I yell week
years now I run all the workshops and I
give away a lot of color I gave away
three colors today we threw a stone hill
we did a challah bake for officially
mass for one of the women who runs the
bake she person has so we did a call a
bake sponsored for him for his foolish
leymah and these are actually my Wow
it's running away what that topping is
that like crumb topping on that it's a
nice juicy topping I'm a damn racing one
I hope you have one sent my way right
now
we'll still work on that later after the
show that's amazing that's incredible
what you do with your passion and it's
such a big deal for people I'm sure make
such an impact now I understand that you
started in an organization tell us a
little bit about that a little bit lofty
what it is is a series of Facebook
groups under the banner of hungry so for
people who are food insecure or people
who are food abundant they can
help feed those who are food insecure so
we have a couple ways that people work
my main group is hungry north of the GTA
which basically is everything north of
downtown Toronto all the way up to
Barrie and if you're hungry you can post
saying hey I'm I don't know for example
a single mom and I need school-aged
snacks and meat milk and formula and
diapers or whatever and people will fill
that order it's incredible there are
other things that you can do if you make
too much food or you have too much food
and you don't want it to go to waste
instead of just letting it sit and rot
we offer it up to people if you made too
much chili say I've got enough chili to
feed a family of four is anybody
interested pickup is wherever people
will come and say hey I would like that
and it is an incredible thing to know
that you are reducing waste you are
feeding people who aren't hungry and you
are to repair the world because for me
it's all about tikkun olam ah amazing I
hope everybody learns first of all from
from you in two ways number one is in
particular in the area of food waste and
connecting people but also that people
everyone can make a difference and
really impact the world as we anything
any message for anyone with regards to
Shabbat any message you want to leave us
with it's been such an honor to talk
with you and to meet you any any any
parting words before we continue on I
think that Shabbat is an amazing thing
just to sit down with your family and
leave the world behind forget about all
the problems and the issues that are
going on in the world and just start
healing your own home I mean you know it
all begins with you and with one step
every step helps change the world so I
just want to say shabbat shalom thank
you very much for this opportunity and
if anybody wants to talk about creating
their own food insecurity group let me
know I'm happy
amazing okay amazing Danielle thank you
so much for being here and being a part
of this shabbat shalom to you and thanks
for who you are and what you do for for
the world at large and it was awesome
and this is what the themes about this
weekend we were talking about the
ability to think bigger to see the cut
the Nets right to be the real self as a
ref our he said to to do things that are
able to help people in bigger ways like
Danielle stands for what she's doing and
many many times one of the core aspects
of that is the ability to connect in a
way to each other to recognize that as
different as we may look we're all the
same so I'd like to turn your attention
to a short film about how we really are
all the same
[Music]
sometimes we right now can you round
sorry sound butcher a baker a trouble
man
you're in
every day people yeah yeah
can accept every
anymore
[Music]
we choose
[Music]
man
[Music]
there is a long hair that doesn't like
the short hair for being such a rich one
that will not help the poor one
[Music]
shush
[Music]
yeah
and so we are everyday people were all
the same may look a little bit from the
outside but we're all the same won't we
get it the more we bring it into our
hearts the bigger we become as a nation
shabbat shalom - everybody - lilies are

let's get started
first question who was the first Jew in
space Soviet astronaut Boris volley on

Nimoy or Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon
who is the first to in space remember
try your hardest to answer as quickly as
you can because you'll get more points
for the quickness give you a hint this
this mission took place in space
answer is Judith Resnik 15% of that
Judith Resnik most of us got Ilan Ramon
Ilan Ramon was the first Israeli in
space while the first Jewish face was
not him and I'll give you one little all
the trivia you know what we feel on
Ramon brought to Israel with him which
is really cool a Torah in fact the
monomer went off the surface of tragic
what happened to him and you know the
real on Ramon was part of we should put
this in questions maybe we'll do it next
week Lana alone just as a pic as it as a
little bit of trivia a bonus trivia Lana
Rome was actually one of the fighter
pilot fighter pilots in the raid on the
Sun the famous raid against the Iraqi of
cirith nuclear plant okay go to the next
question please
Star Trek Oh
let's go who's winning Star Trek the
Vulcan salute was inspired by the shape
of Israel the Jewish producers named
Vogel selectively shape the coop the
cohan blessings hand position south
count California gang members the Vulcan
salute comes after what this is
incredible modern pop trivia and how it
relates to Judaism only here in project
is finally okay what do we got here we
go let's see what the answer is
Oh still getting questions in here we go
the answer is good most people got this
- Cohan blessings the kollene blessings
excellency - the impact that we have on
civilization I mean we're look at this
what would Star Trek be like without the
going blessings okay keep on rolling
next question
oh let's see whose wedding person Ken
Sal cover is killing it keep it up Ken
you're beating Phoenix you beating the
state of Phoenix
and then a smiley face that smiley face
is pretty good by the way they keep on
winning let's go
third question now we're getting into
log ba Oh mer on log bomber bonfires are
lit how do you see log Vollmer in Hebrew
H E Peron shall have it over door think
before this one think don't answer too

Wow
fresh alum from the whole family thank
you so much for watching our next
speaker I've watched Rebbetzin levy can
I say that Rebbetzin levy with a caller
Eve and watched her speak and I was
mesmerised she is an individual who has
captured the attentions of so many
inspiring educating growing with her
incredible husband in the northwest of
this country it is my honor to welcome
you to the show thank you so much and I
know as an educator sometimes people
come to us months later years later and
tell you something that you said to them
that changed their lives and you're
thinking to yourself did I really say
that
I don't remember saying that well I want
to start right to sharing something that
Charlie told me a couple of months ago
that really really did change my life so
a couple months ago this is the first
time that I met Charlie like you know
a person I've heard them speak numerous
times it was back in November in Israel
Charlie was on his last day of eating a
trip and I was the day before my first
trip ever that I was gonna lead and I
was so excited but a little nervous you
could imagine because it was a big deal
for me and I wanted to do a great job
but I had never done it before and when
you do something for the first time it
could be a little scary so I waited for
Charlie all the men were talking to him
and I'm weird and I'm weed and I waited
and finally I had my opportunity I went
over to him I said Charlie I need a
little strength I need a little physic I
said tomorrow is my my first trip the
first day and I'm so scared
and he looked at me and he said are you
petrified and I said yes he said good
because if you weren't you have no right
to be up there and I said to him Charlie
I just I feel so small and he said
because you are small he said we're all
small but Hashem is big and Hashem is
inside you so when you get up there
that's how you need to lead knowing who
you are knowing what you have inside of
you holding that humility and holding
your power and I got up there that first
night Charlie and I was just holding on
to Hashem I took all the fear out of my
heart so thank you and I want to segue
into the message I want to give to all
of you now this week we celebrated blood
bond there and I think Charlie's gonna
speak more about it soon there's so much
about this holiday but it's it's a
mysterious holiday like what's it all
about unique bonfires and here gods and
celebrations and dancing and music and
weddings and there are many reasons why
it's such a great day of celebration but
one of the very well-known reasons is
because it was the day that the students
of Rabbi Akiva stopped dying that was a
great day right imagine right now we're
living to a plague imagine the day that
we get our vaccine and everything is
good back to normal whatever new normal
but I heard something to speak that I've
never learned before my son's Rebbe his
rabbi rabbi Shalom school neck he posed
the question that really boggles my mind
he said you know why it was such a great
so do you know why we were celebrating
he said because well hold on the
celebration is complicated because the
students of Rabbi Akiva stopped dying
because they had all died out seriously
this is what he said I had never heard
that before I just thought the plague
was over and we carried on he said every
single one 24,000 of his students died
there were no more students how can we
celebrate like this was the mind
boggling question to think about we're
celebrating and dancing and singing
there were no more of his students these
giants these scholars all wiped out and
I was thinking about our own situation I
was thinking how we're all grappling
with so many different emotions right
now
Passover night I sat at my Seder so
grateful we made it we have food on the
table we have our health but in my heart
there was such a big place for grieving
for so many people that were in
isolation that had lost loved ones it
was even hard to sit there being happy
how could we go on how could we
celebrate when our brethren are
suffering so the answer to the quest to
this question is in the story about the
Akiva because when rabbi akiva gets up
after grieving he finds himself five
students and he starts all over again so
the celebration is about our resilience
it's about our strength as a Jewish
people it's about our abilities to renew
ourselves no matter what happens and I
assume that when this is all over we're
gonna have to start anew there's gonna
be humble beginnings for us you know we
see this with the upcoming holiday of
Shavuot round the corner in a few short
weeks we see that when we came together
the Jewish people every soul
there at Mount Sinai together me said
not a sevenish mal we will do and we
will here and there were so much energy
was a huge event but afterwards we mess
up we fall down beside her a gal the the
golden calf and Moses has to humbly go
up to God again and receive the Torah a
second time and that endorse that Torah
privately quietly with humility endures
just like the five students of Rabbi
Akiva that endure their Torah in doors
so there's this power there's power here
there's strength for us we could walk
with Hashem to enter that unknown humbly
knowing that we're gonna be okay because
there's Jewish people as much as work
work weren't bogged down and hits down
again and again we always always rise we
get right back up so I just want to
enter the blessing to you we have one
more week in this powerful month of er
the Hebrew month and ER Aleph you'd
you'd rage is an acronym for any Hashem
recife I am God who heals you and it's
also the month where the Jewish people
became gradient in the praise of God
when we came across the Exodus came
across the spring see into the desert we
find ourselves in this place called
Marah a place of bitterness the water
was bitter imagine being in a desert you
just left your home left everything he
left Egypt now you're in a place with no
drinking water and yet God makes
miracles and he turns the bitterness
into sweetness so my blessing for all of
us is to tap into the power of this time
into this energy of renewal and hope and
make everything that we're going through
that's bitter turn to sweetness and we
see it revealed in our lives thank you
so much anxia facts alone Thank You Eve
that was awesome and it's such a true
awesome great message thank you for what
you do for our people and what you stand
for and the inspirational words that you
give that's exactly the message of the
power that we have within us that comes
out when I shine brings us into these
situations and thank you

now one of my favorite people I say that
sometimes not all the time but I say it
when I mean it and this next person is
there's nobody like him in the world
I was sofa I was worthy to be with him
in an event of thousands of students and
I watched him inspire and put a program
together like nobody can he is the CEO
of one of the greatest organizations on
planet Earth
hola me welcome to the show rabbi Dave
Markowitz thanks so much for being here
Charlie
so he's great to be with you we've
actually been together in like some
pretty amazing experiences just it seems
it feels like now a long time ago but it
was just a few months ago we were
together in Life Stadium CMS house going
live it's great to be back together or
hosting again and the truth is I really
wanted to share with everybody this kind
of story that we shared together almost
exactly a year ago right we were
together a year ago if you remember I
mean it's hard today to even believe
that just a year ago we brought 800
students and young professionals who are
leaders in their communities all across
30 countries where all of me has
different organizations and they came
together in Spain for a Leadership Forum
and we had this amazing week and Charlie
was our it was our emcee for the week
I'm celebrating together we had this
great time there were amazing amazing
moments throughout but there was one
particular moment that was just magic
see going into Shabbat there's a woman
young lady named Alicia from
and somehow she realizes you know like
here we are where the Jewish conference
and everybody's Jewish and it's
completely conducive environment you
know what I've never celebrated Shabbat
before and wouldn't be amazing if this
Shabbat I'll I'll try and celebrate
Shabbat as she went she shared it with
one of her friends and they they said
you know that would be amazing maybe
I'll do it with you and and then they
said you know what maybe we can find
somebody else to do this with us and
they went out together and there they
created team Alisha and they found these
green like paper bracelets and they
started running you know the team Alisha
and people who are joining it and all of
a sudden this thing went viral
by the time Shabbat started six hundred
of the students we really never
celebrated about before in their lives
many of them had committed to
celebrating Shabbat Friday night I mean
try to move together but it's hard to
describe what was happening there a few
minutes after the meal started it was
this massive stage in the middle of the
dining room you have 800 people and
people started singing and then dancing
broke out and they just kept going and
going and going and the energy was
electric and in that moment we went till
about two o'clock in the morning and the
special man le horn who's one of our
amazing supporters he's 75 years old
he's from Sao Paulo Brazil and he turns
to me and he says Dave
I feel like mushiya like the Messiah is
going to come right now it was so
powerful there was so much energy it was
like something had been unleashed to
everybody there because one woman felt
this this drive a sense of I could
really do something special here she
shared it with somebody else and boom
that went viral so what if we were to
like push ourselves to find something
real in this crazy environment
think about what it would be when we
share that in our homes with our kids
beyond our homes with our friends
family and in this type of an
environment with a broad community of
people all over the world who were to
bring this on home so we we've been
working some of you may have seen on the
on the president's fire website we've
been trying to share a lot in all kinds
of different ways and we have a new
video that we want to share with you
actually this week it's it's theme is
onedit Shabbat this celebration of
Shabbat when we're trying to encourage
you know find something maybe it'll be a
special shirt that you're gonna put on
in a hundred Shabbat you're gonna feel
that joy when you're stepping into
Shabbat
maybe I'll light candles or make
something special still in the in a few
minutes get it ready just finish about
meal and celebrate that should light
meal together but do one more thing and
just share what you're doing with
somebody because you don't know that one
share of some real genuine growth when
it comes from the soul it could change
everything and maybe for those of us who
do celebrate Shabbat maybe it's gonna be
kaduche with a little extra meaning
maybe it's a song with extra bit of soul
put inside whatever it is want to wish
everybody the most amazing shabbat
shalom we hope that you enjoyed the
video getting ready
[Music]
of the fun
celebrating life not just on birthdays
but once a week if
[Music]
every we could sundown on Friday we
pause the twenty five hours to celebrate
knowing that we have so much to be
thankful for we are thankful for the
world will rest living we are thankful
for the energy of the six days we are
thankful for the blessings that come
with hard work and we are most of all
thankful for God who rewards our efforts
with achievements like a birthday we
celebrate with anticipation and
preparation with food guests song and
hopeful anticipation that the best is
yet to come
the foods that we eat the moments that
we share they celebrate our ability to
break free from the endless cycle of
daily activity to stop becoming and to
start being
that experience is Onika it is not to
keep Shabbat but to celebrate and in
Jewish homes from San Diego to Siberia
and in every generation that has known
the Jewish people
Friday higher into the most joyful and
sensual celebration that this world
Shabana tasted celebrated it is yours

important to get the wisdom remember
this phenomenal Shabbat Guide and what
it can do for your table English Hebrew
transliteration why we do what we do
it's awesome it makes everything more
meaningful and better and remember what
I think this show is really all about
it's this it's this universal push to
become the best that we can be to cut
the nets to not have the loop to
recognize that one person can change the
way food is done one person could make
an impact on the world to realize it
even in the down moments Ruby Kiva's law
students there's an up moment there's
still the ability the ability to endure
to realize so much of what we're doing
only makes us greater and and more
important and makes us bigger in every
single aspect I read that one girl in
Spain who had this dream of keeping
Shabbat made bands and next thing you
know 700 students are keeping Shabbat
together the power of one the power of
unity the power of seeing that mean you
are exactly the same
the luckiest people in the world what
can I say with the luckiest people in
the world the best gift is the one
that's coming up right now for twenty
five hours and from me and mine to you
and yours I wish you a healthier happier
joyous wise a thoughtful a tranquil and
empowering one with vision one with hope
one with confidence one with family one
that we realize who we are and a Shabbat
that makes us recognize that each and
every one of us is unique and this is
the time to think like champions so that
during the week and be like champions a
really health being wonderful shabbat
