hello everybody and welcome to another
episode of the Shabbat children Shabbat
home it's honor to be with you again
Charlie Rory here it is such an pleasure
that we're together again before Shabbos
I look forward to this the entire week
you know every single week when I say
God's help like can't wait to see you
again
I hope that I get to see you in Israel
but the thought that another week go by
and we can spend another week together
another time bringing in Shabbat the
greatest time of the week it's really
really an opportunity that I don't take
lightly and thank you so much for
joining us right now thanks to those
that are tuning in from all over in the
different platforms from all over the
world it's an honor that you're you're
with us it's an honor that we have to
spend this time together today we're
gonna change the topic up every single
week is you know we try to have a theme
it's not just enough to come together we
want to make sure we're coming together
under a specific banner to learn to grow
each week to develop a new understanding
another appreciation in something over
the past few weeks you've been studying
about different aspects of Shabbat
kiddush challah Havdalah the meals all
the different pieces of it but we wanted
to do this week was go a little bit
deeper
it's not about Shabbat as much as it's
about us walking into the world of
Shabbat something happens when we enter
into the space called Shabbat it's
designed for a very specific reason me
and you have something and what Shabbat
is doing is bringing it out so a couple
of years ago I was given a gift I had
started to do videos for Asia Torah and
a man named Jaime kaolin called me and
he said listen I want to ask you a
question would you like to spend some
time with her of Noah Weinberg or if
Noah Weinberg as you know is the Dean
and founder of Asia Torah the Russia but
one of the greatest most influential
characters the past 50 years he was
larger than life much of what you see
today in Asia tour and project inspired
and other great organizations come from
the the leadership of this one man
he said listen he's gonna be in the city
would you like to spend some time with
him said are you would I like to spend
time with Noah Weinberg like I sure it's
the right one like you know they give
you like a sort of why we're here that's
like really his cousin
so from Hawaiian burger I'm like be he's
like yeah see I'm like Vivi he's like
yeah I'm like wow I mean what do I do
like how much do you need like yes yes
yes so I got six hours alone with this
giant of a man and what went on in that
room what I learned from him in six
hours changed my life six hours alone in
a small office in New York City leave
over Sampson was there and he I asked
him questions and he said things and
I've never been the same one of the
things that he said to me was instead he
set it around to everybody he said that
there's a famous Mishnah part of the
oral law that says that God gave us a
credible gift
we're beloved in God's eyes why are we
beloved because we have been created in
His image God could create us in any way
we could have just been walking robots
all the pieces fit together clink clink
clink and we get turned on by some magic
button and off we go
but it's not how God created us when God
fashioned Adam he blew into his so to
speak the epoch when he blew into him a
a soul a living soul and this Mishnah
teaches us that why we so beloved me and
you out of where you are and what's your
background religious not religious into
it not into it feeling it not feeling it
forget it
what mean you have inside us what's
empowering us is a piece of the divine
that means that the two of us the ten of
us the thousands of us right now in our
in who we are what's powering us is a
piece of the divine itself
Selam aleykum it's it's in the image of
God
we have a helical okatee peace of God
that means we have infinite potential
that means there's no telling what we
can accomplish in this role that means
there's nothing this world that we can't
overcome
there's nothing physical that we can
transcend because we at our core are not
physical beings we have a body but we
are a soul and I remember when he told
that to me I felt so empowered to push
to the extent of what that means God
tells that to us and many times what
holds us back in life is not capacity
its focus its distraction when you get
on the treadmill of life when you're
young and you never get off it you don't
have time to recognize who you really
are when our brain gets lost into the
world and we're so busy trying to
survive and go through the day and
carpools and going and coming in bills
and work and catching up and then just
the extra seconds that we have someone's
buzzing and beeping and we're checking
and you can go a life a hole you can go
a year of five years a decade and never
once slow down but Shabbat does Shabbat
slows us down not only to find God but
to find the God that is within on each
and every one of us the peace of the
Divine that we all go around with it's
to tap into our own power it's to have
that moment to breathe to see things to
feel things to recognize things and the
number one things we need to recognize
is that me and you are really really
powerful we're a piece of the greatest
that's why we want to talk about today
on the show the impact of Shabbat the
power and people because there are
incredible people out there and when we
meet them and we hear from them and we
hear the different ideas
we see a piece of ourselves in them
hopefully reminds us that we too have
even more power than we're bringing out
and it is a day like Shabbat where we
recognize that God's in control buddy in
endowed us with some incredible power it
gives us the strength and the energy to
bring it out and be stronger the next
week so I'm looking for we've got a
great show coming up for you we've got

my name is Alex Asti my name is Desmond
Berg I'm live in burns in Arizona I've
been part of project inspire for almost
a year now I'm from Brazil and I have
been a part of the one-on-one learning
program for over a year now I just
didn't have a Jewish education my
parents are from the former Soviet Union
where it was illegal to learn I grew up
in a family and we're unfortunately in
Judaism in the culture was not passed
down so I didn't know anything coming
into this program we talked about
everything from life liberty the pursuit
of happiness we started learning once a
week she has made such a huge impact in
my life and she just really meant me
where I was in a totally non-judgmental
way
so whatever comes up with relation to
Judaism of Torah and Talmud and Mishnah
and Kabbalah anything we just kind of
talk about it put it out there project
inspire has enriched my life by enabling
me to set aside 30 minutes to an hour
each week and dedicate time to learning
about different schools of thought if it
wasn't for them I wouldn't know how to
read Hebrew it's really beautiful to see
how extremism shapes my everyday life
where I would have never even realized
that before so I highly recommend
getting matched up with the one-on-one
partner if you are looking for a
personalized way to stay connected with
Judaism in your busy life I'm very much
looking forward to growing in my truth
ISM and my faith and having a stronger
impact on the world around me because of
it thank you project inspire and I can't
thank you enough so thanks

shalom - okay we knew some Morley's
later let's start with our first guest
this week I actually had the opportunity
to catch up with two great people
rabbi Abbie Roberts and Brad crock and
talk about this great new initiative
that you know about AVI started you know
we hit when you hit the virus everything
shut down so some people just stopped
and some people never stopped so check
this out this one rabbi and what he did
- to roll with the virus to bring
Shabbat to students and his student who
has really been growing from it so check
out this interview that we able to cut
during this week
okay walk everybody to this incredible
segment I am joined with two wonderful
individuals rabbit avi roberts looking
right now he is the heads the young
professionals division at ignite YP in
st. Louis and Brad crock is with us as
well a 30 year old student for
chiropractic he's a chiropractor so
let's not with you rabbi you know you
a couple of weeks ago you looked around
the world as so many others did and said
wait a second like we're all in
quarantine
what I'm doing is most likely
interfacing with individuals from all
over the world or from my community and
now I'm stuck behind my house you
started this thing called the Shabbos
table what is the Shabbos table yes the
Shabbat table was basically designed so
that we can help each person learn more
about Shabbat grow more each week even
though they can no longer come to the
rabbi's house because of all the
restrictions and everything so each week
there was a theme for the Shabbat table
learn about something say kiddush or
challah or whatever else it might be
people from all over the country would
join the Xoom here an inspiration we'll
talk about it break up into small
breakout rooms randomized to meet people
from around America and get to know them
and feel like they're learning about
Shabbat with a lot of their pairs and
then every city had it a little bit
differently but the students would then
go to the rabbi's house and pick up a
few at yourself Shabbat packaged with a
meal for Friday night with materials to
learn more about Shabbat and whatever's
needed like grape juice for kiddush or
tea lights or something like that Wow
and now Brad you are you're a part of
that your why have ours in this
constellation over here talk to me a
little bit about how you got involved
where where how did you get to the rabbi
how did you get this job table what's
your background - so Shabbat I mean you
hit the nail on the head I mean I you
know I work part-time and the
chiropractic school full-time we've got
boards coming up I mean how do you I go
into what I call hermit crab season see
their boards or finals there's about a
three week period you're not going to
get from just because just like we're
with everybody else there's there's
absent flows in life and one thing that
I've realized this Shabbat gives me the
ability to research it's giving me the
ability Hannah and it's a very slow
learning process for me but it's I'm
learning more and more to find a little
peace on a Friday night be able to kind
of sit down with myself and my thoughts
and go okay you know we've talked about
how she bot can be a lot of moments
reflection kind like you see yourself in
the firelight of the Shabbat candles but
you can see the candles dancing around
the table
have you that gives me a time to reflect
and sit down to okay like what was good
for this week what could have been
better for this week it and it's also I
mean man I thrive on I'm starting to
travel on moments of peace right so one
thing that Shabbat does and I had to
teach myself that's to come into August
house there was actually joke my phone
works in obvious front yard but as soon
as I walk into August house I get no
cell phone reception and it's in and
I've had to teach myself that in my own
home sort of like hey if I don't get any
cell phone reception rabbis house
because I'm not supposed to be on my
phone like learn it put it away for a
while and it's and that's something
that's about giving me it's giving me a
certain aura to no matter how much I'm
studying or what I'm studying for what
I'm planning for what I got going on
Shabbat is becoming a moment for like
I've got it I plan it every week so I
give myself that two or three hours in
the afternoon sometimes more sometimes
less I try not to make any less I try to
make it more and more each time like
I've talked about with Augie you know
stay off the phone for an extra fifteen
to thirty minutes a night you know maybe
maybe do a little reading you know find
he's turning down a lot of good books
open one of the books that you're one of
the you know the tour anytime just you
know make sure it's printed out
beforehand so that way you're not using
electricity to get on your iPad and
laptop to read it but make sure it's
printed out beforehand so that way you
can get a little more Jewish education
on Friday night you're just really
sticking to and using it as a way to
grow that was a small piece of a really
an incredible opportunity that we had to
meet two individuals both the rabbi who
kept on rolling creating this incredible
Shabbat table and of course the Brad who
adopted it got involved in it has been
growing since and this is just a little
bit of the power that we're talking
about in people to grow to innovate to
bring our traditions in new ways and
also then on the other side to be open
to to to to grow in one's own own
Judaism in every which way the power
that we have in each and every person
a couple of more shabbat shalom that we
have from Donna bell Burkhardt from
Seattle shabbat shalom to you to Linda
for Anna Dale Virginia shabbat shalom to
you to the car funcle' family
shabbat shalom to you - Aviva from
Cincinnati Ohio shabbat shalom
to you to the barren family in Denver
shabbat shalom' from John from
Oxfordshire
shabbat shalom to Yosef no Farrell from
Passaic Brian Wolfe
reset and Brian Wolfe shabbat shalom to
you okay the next yes that we have is an
incredible video that we're gonna show
you know this individual actually was
part of a one of our conferences his
name is Dylan Segal he spoke at a
project inspire convention he's a young
child he's such a testament to the power
of one person one person can accomplish
check out Dylan's story love comes in
all forms especially friendship in
today's people making a difference lisa
sigell brings us an update on a young
author who's trying to find a cure for
his friend's disease and shows the kids
everywhere anything is possible
10 year old Dylan Siegel and his
classmate 11 year old John Aparna zarion
have been friends for a long time I won
he's kind and friendly and fun to play
with he's really nice it's a sweet
friendship that took it even sweeter
turn four years ago Dylan's my best
friend that's when we first met them I
like to go silly and when Dylan mentally
six wrote a book called chocolate bar to
help raise money for Jonah chocolate
ball equals awesome I like to go to the
beach - sell chocolate all see Jonah
suffers from a rare life-threatening
liver condition called glycogen storage
disease 1b it strikes just one in a
million
Dylan wanted to help I wanted Jonah to
feel better I wanted to help care his
disease
so they started selling books the first
year raising $20,000 now we have raised
over 1.3 million dollars and we've sold
over 30,000 copies of our book now the
books turned into bracelets shirts a
fundraising page and of course chocolate
bars chocolate bar they have found a
cure for their first part and are gonna
start clinical trials but they're still
working on the cure for the second part
of the disease I'm very thankful that
Dylan has wrote a book and raise money
is an incredible friend other people
think Dylan's pretty cool too a few
years ago the White House sent me a
letter it was crazy
young people like you are tomorrow's
leaders Hershey's treated them to a
special tour and Dylan's speaking across
the country about giving back I haven't
stopped gay because I want to inspire
kids all around the world that they
could do something amazing it's
incredible how you can write a book and
save someone's life
see yes Dylan says chocolate bars are
awesome and so is Jonah he knew that at
6 and now even more
anything can happen if you just put your
mind to it I like to help my friends
that is the biggest chocolate bar
an incredible story the power of one
person you know I loved about that story
so much is that he didn't have any idea
about all the challenges that would be
facing him you know when you start a
project when you write a book when you
try to raise money there's all the
things that can go wrong but when you're
young you don't have any of that you
just get on a roller coaster and let the
roll of course take you where it is
sometimes in life we come up with too
many reasons why we fail but if we would
just go after it we would be shocked by
how much we can all accomplish look at
the one little kid
one child accomplished just because he
wanted to help his friend raised over a
million dollars the power of people
power that is inside every single human
being to change the world
now speaking about powerful people our
next guest this is clearly one I've had
the opportunity to not only witnessed
what Jimmy has been doing around the
country in terms of the impact she's
making on so many people I've had I've
seen her in all these different contexts
but also we've seen her on her show and
she changed her way
shamea da changed the whole game of of
parties she would walk in and make
people feel amazing she would bring up
the energy she would travel around the
world inspiring kids and adults singing
smiling and dancing and when this whole
virus started as opposed to saying well
I can't go anywhere she shifted over and
moved on to social media and changed and
created one of the most popular
platforms to bring inspiration to other
people it's an honor to have me on the
show shimmy welcome to the show thank
you so much for having me how are you
I'm wonderful it's great to have you
it's great to have you here thank you
for giving us the time sure begin I love
project inspired the only organization
that I don't want to call an
organization it's the only family that
would come on two seconds before Shabbat
people are screaming at me I'm like keep
the baby quiet
professional you can I hope the doors
locked by the way because mine is lock
so that no kids can come in I forgot to
lock it
but they changed the topic last min and
he told me the power in people and I was
like the first thing that came to mind
was project inspired and the experiences
that I've had at the Chabot owns and the
first one actually they came to mind is
the Falla big first of all how big that
was on a zoom a few months ago and I
came on and they're like shimmy we're
not gonna dance you know we're not it's
weird to dance on Zoom and I put on the
music just to see what's gonna happen
and all of a sudden I see the younger
girls start clapping their hands and
their mothers are like hello this is so
embarrassing I'm like get your mother to
stand up and start dancing and it was
just incredible how the power of people
that was pressure and all of us started
dancing because we brought out the
simcha and happiness of one another but
when we had a solid bake back in the day
when we were allowed to be together with
humans at the I think was last last year
two years ago and that is how I bake and
I told him I said it's not gonna work
out at the hotel it's a few hours before
Shabbat everyone has to get ready shower
this and that people are coming in the
place was jam-packed everybody was there
grandmother's the younger children and
everybody in between and I remember like
the older women saying let me show you
how to braid the table okay I've been
doing it for years and some people never
made call in their life and we were
dancing the place was on fire by the way
there's a hundred fifty seven
participants I don't believe this this
is amazing
only a project inspired and after the
the Falla make everybody left to get
ready and it wasn't like a nine-year-old
girl I wish I remembered her names I
give her a shout out but she was
cleaning up oh the whole place
afterwards and I was doing a thing on my
Instagram stories what do you love about
about what's your favorite thing about
Yvonne and what's this nine-year-old
girl so what's your favorite thing about
you about she said I love when my mother
lights of Shabbat candles I love it but
even more so I love it when I watch all
the women light the candles
these shop atones cuz like if you watch
the flames they're so powerful and
they're flickering and you see the
mothers praying and each one is praying
for something else and it's just like it
makes me feel a little fuzzy inside like
those are our words and I'm like I still
have the video and I said what would you
ask Hashem what would you ask God those
rojo and she said I wish I would ask
Hashem that my father could be here
because he's very sick I wish my father
could experience what it is to be around
all these people and that's what came up
when he said the power and people like
individually who are amazing but when we
get together it's so so powerful which
leads me to my last thing yeah you want
to say something Charlie
your last thing go do your thing I'm not
getting in your way
30 seconds which leads me we're gonna
forward after that chopper tone
top-dollar when Charlie I was gonna say
her up charlie I almost messed up but I
didn't he probably he gets up there and
he does his thing and he speaks and he
makes Abdullah he takes it to a whole
nother level he elevates it and we're
all standing there the women on one side
the men on the other side you know
there's a guitar in the background which
helps you write your message it always
makes it so much better as I remember
you were talking about the power of a
flame you see the Shabbat candle as one
flame and then the of Dulla candle has
two flames now I'm like a Hanukkah
candle any other candle it has two
flames and I remember standing there and
as the music got you know with Avedon
and green and it got more powerful in
the beats and everybody I saw everybody
wanting to dance and they're like you
know nodding their head and but nobody
was doing anything they were just
standing there like frozen so my job is
naturally to make everyone feel awkward
so I grabbed the first woman on my right
the first moment on my left which
happened to be the woman on the right
was a Hasidic woman and the woman on my
left was a lady from Alabama who never
captured by that I was her first Shabbat
Erica and I remember just swing with
them hand in hand and all of a sudden
you saw
on the other hand every it was just a
ripple effect everybody was you know
together as one and I looked at that as
like the power of people the power of
people cuz like we were all there we all
felt the magic it didn't matter who you
are where you came from what you look
like where you're heading where you hold
it didn't matter because at that moment
we're all one and sometimes we get you
know we lose focus with debts at a time
like we don't realize how powerful we
are when we unite and I look what's
happening right now I think the
wonderful thing that came out of this is
that we could be here ere Shabbos people
from all over the world getting ready
for Shabbat with Charlie our re what
could be better your great words and one
of these I want to bring out that you're
saying which is so important and I want
to make sure people are getting it is
that and this what we're talking about
and I think you live I think on this
principle if I'd have to guess that it's
in there
you should got to bring it out like it's
in there right you you look at somebody
and they're like wow I don't know I
shouldn't them that's what I do I've
never done this before I don't know it's
not what I did
you're like stop and in if there's
anyone that does that I mean people
don't appreciate that the person who
draws people in to dance
that's the most death most vulnerable in
the world they standing about the podium
these are protected right when you're
going out and pulled something in that
dance floor you can lose big time you
know say you could be alone on that
thing but you have to believe in your
core that that person for that moment
has a piece of something inside them
that wants to come out it's just
something's blocking them
yet what do you see just in 30 seconds
when you look around to a dance with
people not dancing or how do you know
that you can take that chance to bring
out other people I got into a point in
my life where I don't care what anybody
says or thinks about me as long as I'm
doing the right thing and I know that I
have the coop
I mean I can't draw I can't do a lot of
things but I know that I could connect
to people in a certain way and that's
God gave it to me how could I deny the
world of that and everybody has that
something in them but they know they
know what's there so like when you when
you realize how could somebody could
gain from something that and there's no
one else in the world that has what we
have they might be able to dance and
sing and and and you know speak but no
one can relate to anyone the way you
could relate to them and when you know
that you have that one thing pressures
on
yeah sure yeah you're awesome gotcha
bless you doing continue bringing all
the joy to the world bringing out the
best and every person that comes in your
way
let's keep up be the reason some smiles
and spreading that sunshine thank you
there should be a dot really one of the
most powerful forces that our people
have today really and I think it's such
an important piece that we get and I
know that feeling because I know you
know you know that feeling too right
you've been for that dance floor and
like you go and you not going do you go
and you're not going you want to go in
is that it's the force you want to well
let go a little bit you want to dig in
and whether you dance or not it's a
metaphor but sometimes you got to dig
into who you are and pull out the power
within but I think what should you say
also secondly was even more importantly
which is yeah I know who you are you
gotta know who you are gotta know what
you gift this you got to bring that out
to other people that's really where your
power comes in shabbat shalom - Lori
Salomon and family from Suffern shabbat

this on the show a lot and we've got
some really wonderful feedback from it
and it's who we are which is although
this is a show that is based at least
timewise in the United States of America
it extends outside of course to all
these different countries we very much
are tethered to the State of Israel our
homeland and we speak about heroes and
the power within it's almost impossible
to not mention the heroes that are
within the borders and one of the things
that always strikes me and the guys that
come on the trips with us always strikes
them is that when you think about the
idea after you think about the soldiers
protecting the entire country you would
think these are sort of sophisticated of
adults that have been spending a
lifetime in the army but they're not
their kids their kids with big guns but
they're kids and they're not even big
kids like can you see like it's really
soldier they're not like six for 250
like God doesn't make us that big like
these are like scrawny kids where they
get the power from I get it from within
you know it and I know it you meet that
elbow soldiers have it you meet an
Israeli soldier there their dedication
their commitment they draw out this
power that they have inside them that
far surpasses any physical lack of power
that they may have there's a source of
power and where does it come from so I
want to play you a video from a hero
hero that passed away but a hero
nonetheless in fact I found out about
this individual years ago and I have
been learning about him and from him for
years he has been
a source of inspiration in my life is
really a touching story and I'd love to
show it to you the story of the power in

new segment we're going to be trying a
new segment this week the panel
discussions talking about
Jewish privilege it's going to be hosted
by the executive director of project
inspire Jesse Friedman please turn your
attention to this panel thank you so
much charlie and welcome to the ask the
rabbis session of the bring Shabbat home
program we have with us today rabbi to
be sitting here who's the rabbi of the
village shul
how are you rabbi - sydnor roth gob
forget his intro and doorbell time
joining us via the phone is a senior
lecturer on campuses and Jewish thought
thank you very much guys we're only a
short stop walked here today
here we go the question of the week is
Jewish privileged so it's a hot topic
the jewish privilege is it a real
concept and is it per guard of your
thoughts I'm going to Europe I felt I'm
personal your thoughts of whether other
Jewish privilege is a real concept and
is it regarded so first of all the whole
word Jewish is the word though which
means appreciation and thanks so the
entirety of Judaism is to acknowledge
our privilege it were blessed we the
most common word and feels like a swing
which means privileged fortunate what
can people in the world we were given
the tire up we come from unbelievable
legacy boldness but hrut is because he
went for it we accomplished things we
accept the total we've lived and people
people use it as a pejorative they're
trying to put us now well let me say
this in 15 seconds is that we've lived
our entire lives with I can't read
there's not a person in the world that
hasn't put their food on our neck to say
that we've been privileged and that to
the cause of our success our privileges
the bill need not to be broken or worn
down that we had leaders who gave us who
turned our pain into fire the world
should learn from from Jewish pain on
how to turn pain into greatness and joy
it's a blessing so you say never tell
them that we are privileged we are
privileged however it didn't come from
us growing up so to speak in a
privileged environment we earned our
privilege by accepting on ourselves with
our and
paid for everything triple we've we've
done everything with both hands tied
behind our back we've lived our lives
not being able to breathe from walls of
ghettos from literal boats from gas and
look what we are amazing well on this
from us we have we definitely have
earned that I'm gonna go rob a sitting
there
your thoughts that I'm Jewish privilege
is a real concept or and is a pejorative
meaning is this is this how we in deep
privilege so look I think that we have
to define our terms when we talk about
privilege I think what we're really
talking about is having some inherent
advantage I'm privileged not that I'm
entitled that I have an advantage being
in this situation so when we talk about
you know is there Jewish privilege I
think the answer is yes I think there is
Jewish privilege I mean look we have the
best system of morals and values and
ethics we have the Torah we're hounds
people there's no question about it we
have a bluefish we constitute point O 2%
of the world but we make up 30% of Nobel
Prize winners no question about it
we we have some type of inherent
advantage that being said I don't want
to use the word privilege because when
we talk about that what we mean is
especially when we talk about skin color
we mean it's it's something I have but
you can't have you can't change your
skin color when we talk about Jewish
privileged Jewish if inherent advantage
we're saying yes I have it but so could
you anyone can have it it's a beautiful
esteem or you're posing on the inherit
inherent privilege I felt that more of
the earned privilege shows me grab your
thoughts on on Jewish privilege is a
real concept and as a pejorative the
biggest problem I think is not that
whether we are privileged or not it's
whether Jews recognize they're
privileged I think the rest of the world
gets upset that we think we're
privileged and we are so self-conscious
to recognize how privileged we are am I
said nobody's in there what's what's
something that Jews can do and have in
mind in order to recognize the privilege
that we have either inherent or have
worked for over the years think that if
if every Jew could pick one one aspect
of you display not something naturally
but something that they already familiar
with and just delve into it
or come to appreciate it take a little
bit of time every day to just value that
one Mitzvah and realize how special is
realize what a son gave us I think it'll
help grow our own appreciation for what
we have in this world
thank you that's perverse in a final ten
seconds is yours I felt him I loved
dearly when at the end I can do this
then we'll speak after his ballina there
but the catheter realize that we work
for this at the other day I think a
privilege means we didn't we don't even
necessarily deserve this Roberto so long
God is so loving and so caring it's
already gave it to us that we can't even
do anything to repay it but I think it's
time to be able to take a moment to
think about how blessed we are how
blessed we are what an honor and
privilege it is to be connected to this
thing called duty is absolutely amazing
guys I thank you so much I know
everyone's busy on a Friday afternoon I
really appreciate you doing it
especially if you have out of your
beautiful Hawaii house over there so

trabajo Thank You rabbi pretty much for
that what an incredible interesting
conversation hope that we all can take
with us and bring it to our Shabbat
table and keep on asking the question
and what it means to us and how we can
make it a bigger part of our lives now

Bernard is the CEO of a private

is still a highly sought sought after
speaker on speaker TV thank you so much
for joining us in the program
Charlie my old friend wouldn't want on
privilege to be here with you but so
long for this shabbat shalom - you know
about this well because you write about
it you talk about it you live it talk to
us about your perspectives on power and
people and what that means
absolutely so you know I was listening
to a lot of fascinating anecdotal you
know notes that were made by many of
your guests and just at a meetings major
story with Robbie here's what I want to
share the power of the pride right the
power of people and the capacity that
human beings have to really live a
transcendent life and to get up above it
and to find spaces and crevices and
places of deep meaningful connection
but the something that transcends them
themselves is a phenomena it's an
amazing thing and absolutely is it is
most experienced in the mass
distribution the people which is
something that we Jews truly
specializing we are on a militias who
know we are an unco - a holy nation it
is the capacity of our individual talent
that allows for the collective to be
such an awesome machine but Charlie what
I want to touch for a minute on is the
the power of the fragmentation that I am
as a singular human being in other words
what I've just said to you is the many
people that live within me and as I move
through a contemporary conventional
world in 2020 specifically the world
that we're currently navigating right
but in general finding place between him
and earth being a Jew that is connected
to something transcendent that is
plugged into a heavenly space but yet
has a requirement a responsibility and a
capacity to be involved in the world in
a physical material world there is as
natural tension that consistently right
he's born within us and it plays itself
out every single day and many times
every moment of every day and what
happens is we kind of travel through
this and we come to this one magical
incredible thing called Shabbos and it
is the only thing that quills their
tension and that finally says to my
cognitive rational brain that I am NOT a
physical human being that occasionally
has an experience of the spiritual but
it flips the entire thing on its head
and gives me a paradigm shift and it
says to me you are a spiritual being
delivered in the physical material world
to a corporal body and finally on
Shabbat as I experienced these
twenty-four hours I get this thing right
and as I'm kind of really getting it
right and my soul
has bled through my entire body I take
that beautiful half-dollar candle that
flame and I'm it's not there I'm
extinguishing the dominance of my soul
over my body I'm making a commitment
that it actually traversed through the
week that this be my dominant self when
I when I sippy when I said II totally
into the city you know the beautiful
people listening is that we are really
navigating right now an incredibly tough
individual time where so much is under
the microscope there's so much shift and
change there is so much that was
familiar to our being that is no longer
and they're operating methodologies that
I'm after re adapted so this would be a
problem for me if the world I lived in
was my home but it's not it's just my
house it's just where I transact a
shelter at home upstairs in a heavenly
realm where my soul actually lives
I think this mentality will kind of take
us through a whole different shifting
slice Wow Wow
Kiwi you always seem to do it that way
words the words awesome you put the
accent the whole thing with
sophistication you knock us over I'm
blown out you're exactly right you're
exactly right and and I think the
message you're delivering needs to be
digested not just heard because this is
what we're getting at is this
recognition that we are something else
and the end where you put it so
beautifully we this this world is where
we transact right it's not a I'm TV and
honor to have you on thanks so much for
another Rodeo together maybe we have
many more many more Charlie and may you
be blessed with incredible work you do
but so long for this shabbat shalom TV
thanks so much what an incredible
message and key we just delivered that I
want to make sure we end with which is
this idea of what we opened with we
didn't plan it but we opened with this
concept of the body and the soul but
what keep you drove towards what I think
is so critical
this idea that when we see ourselves as
more than the body the world around us
is a different feel the insecurities
that we're experiencing in the current
world that we're living in has a
different impact on us when we recognize
that this world this body is how we
transact as his words versus who we are
which is the soul this infinite powerful
incredible thing that can overcome
challenge that can dig and believe in
things bigger than ourselves as we saw
from each and every one of our videos
and our guests before we end I want to
just give one shot out I got a text just
now that blew me away I had to stop for
all those that they gave in shabbat
shalom thank you so much about sums to
all of you which I get to every single
one of you and hopefully I will in the
future I want to just give a special
shabbat shalom to a man named joel
salzman and here's what he wrote and i
want to share with the group because
we're talking about power and people and
I hope he's still listening because
everyone's gonna be inspired by what he
what he just wrote in here Joel just
wrote this the second Shabbat of July is
the 45th anniversary of my first walk
more than six miles from the neighbor to
Milwaukee I lived in to the neighborhood
that I now live in where my shul was six
miles 45 years ago and here you are the
anniversary Joel now you're living where
that sure was congratulations on taking
those steps that you did when you did
and you must feel incredibly incredibly
proud and powerful for who you are a
couple more - shabbat shalom before we
line up I just so many it's so wonderful
just want to say shabbat shalom - can of
course - Ken Stockholm from Skokie Linda
from Buffalo shabbat shalom - shabbat
shalom Pam - to everybody really shabbat
shalom - who you are and I wanted to end
with this idea these are our moments
this is our chance we've got really one
shot at this thing called life when we
identify with our bodies were limited by
nature but when we identify with our
souls we find the power that is within
us that we never would have known was
there the story of the Jewish people is
a story of a nation at dig
well past their body into a place that
is eternal the story of our ancestors a
story are her people and when God
created the world I believe he wanted to
make sure that we never got on the
treadmill and stayed there and never got
off this incredible gift called Shabbat
is a time warp we get to enter into a
space and time
it's amazing then you can sanctify a
place you can sanctify your body
what God did was he sanctified time and
as we walk into this area called Shabbat
not only does it give us a moment to
breathe and to connect it's more than
that it the energy the spiritual energy
is a little bit higher so we connected a
different level the Wi-Fi signal is
stronger and on Shabbat so that inner
mechanism that is spiritual can pick up
on it but it's not something that we
have to get something that we have to
become I mean we have to reveal within
us it's who we are don't forget that
we've got the survey coming out please
make sure that you fill out the survey
to find out more in terms of what we
want to hear from you what you like
about the show what we should keep you
want to get better and better make sure
you text one on one to 97,000 we'll keep
you up there and remember that we want
to hear from you want the show to
continue growing share with a few
friends of yours if you like what you
hear share it with someone else that may
get a little bit from it and we'll
continue to grow and hopefully we'll be
doing this together every week until we
get to do is live and in Jerusalem and
for me and mine to you and yours may you
have an incredible Shabbat maybe one
that is restful and wise maybe one that
gives you perspective one it gives you
peace one that gives you wisdom may this
Shabbat we go through it and start to
sense but inside each and every one of
us is a power source that is so
incredible
we can accomplish things that we never
saw pop never thought possible and they
like TV said may we go from that Shabbat
to create a greater week to then create
greater clarity in Shabbat and on and on
and on so that Hebrew every week is
better than the next
can't wait to see you in Jerusalem but
if not with God's help I really hope I
get to see you again next week
shabbat shalom
