The Prohibition of Eating Milk & Meat Together

A pasuk in the Torah says, "Lo Sevashel Gidi  becheilev emo"; it is prohibited to cook a   young animal in its mother's milk. This verse  is stated three times in the Torah. Chazal,   our sages, teach us that one time is to teach  us that it is prohibited to cook meat and milk   together. The second time is to teach us  that one cannot eat meat and milk together.   The third time is to teach us that you cannot  benefit from meat and milk that were cooked   together. Once it is prohibited to eat meat  and milk together, Chazal extended the decree   and forbade one to eat any dairy products after  meat due to the strong lingering taste of meat.
