The Power of Patience: A Lesson in Trust - Rabbi Menachem Salasnik
151 views
We often find ourselves rushing toward outcomes, missing the beauty and importance of the journey along the way. Patience and trusting the process—even when things seem uncertain—are crucial in our lives. Often, just a little more effort and a bit more time are all it takes to shift our circumstances. #jewishwisdom #jewishthought #jewishtiktok #moshe #patience #waiting #rabbi #judaism #torah #torahlearning #torahstudy #god #hashem #jewish #hidabroot

Many of us grew up reading fables. And
many of these fables weren't
particularly pleasant. They didn't end
particularly nicely.
Uh
you know, just to choose one particular
example, the story of this poor man who
did did some kindness, brought in a
guest. The guest happened to be a a
magician of some sort. And as a present
for doing the kindness, he gave him a
goose. And this goose laid a golden egg
every day. And every single day the
goose lays a golden egg. And obviously
the man is very happy. He takes the
golden egg. He goes and sells it. He can
pay for his bills.
But the problem is that the the guy is
impatient. And he he starts thinking to
himself, "Look, the goose must have all
of these golden eggs inside. Let's go
and cut open the gold the goose and I
can to get all of the golden eggs in one
go and then I can go and use that money
and change my circumstances." And of
course, he cuts open the the open the
goose and there's no golden eggs inside.
And you feel so disappointed. You think
to yourself, "Oh, if only just been
patient.
If only just listened to the
instructions."
Now, why do I mention this?
Because
the tablets were broken.
Why?
Because
Moshe had gone up for 40 days and 40
nights. And they miscalculated. And all
they needed to do was to wait a few more
hours.
But instead they got caught up. But they
ended up building a golden calf. And
Tisha B'Av as well.
They were ready to go into the land of
Israel.
If only they just listened to two of the
spies who brought back wonderful
reports. And this and and they could
have gone up and we would have
remembered for forever. The 9th of Av
was the day that we took the first
strides to walking into the land of
Israel.
And instead we got crying through the
generations.
We're supposed to be thinking
these three weeks
are actually a time of real
disappointment.
Cuz it wouldn't have taken much.
It really wouldn't. Just a few more
hours.
Just a little bit more effort.
Couldn't we have just waited?
Do we have to cut open the goose and
just to find that there was nothing
there?
What we have to remember is this.
If somebody came to you and said,
"All it's going to take is a tiny little
bit of effort.
Just to be to try not to speak badly
about people.
Just a little bit of effort.
And everything would change."
Would you do it?
Just a little bit of effort.
That's all it takes.
