I was speaking to a boy recently that's
struggling with different yeshivas and
when you speak to most kids about their
experience especially 16 17 years old
they have a lot of rage towards the
system and speaking with him I didn't
catch any of that and at some point I
asked you seem to be so okay with the
fact that at times you're mistreated and
how are you okay with that and he looked
at me with like this face of knowledge
and understanding and he said I'm always
supported in my home and my parents have
my back they believe in me and because
of that even though I'm in this
environment where sometimes I feel like
I'm being beaten up But at the same
time, he carried with them this sense of
we got your back. And it makes life so
much more enjoyable, simpler. Clearly,
we have a belief system. We have a Torah
that guides us, gives us form as to
what's right and what's wrong. We need
to unconditionally believe in our
children, believe in their capacity, and
that's about them. It's not about us.
