No, she's good. I want to I want this
this three
three topics on my mind today, Yehuda,
that I want to share with my friends.
The first The first topic It's my share
of being with all three will relate.
It's my share of being with you all
today. It's
Zion others. My share of being with you
all today.
And there are three topics that I want
to speak about. One is doing for others,
being there for others.
Oh,
it's good enough. Thank you. Thank you.
I want to express
Yehuda, I want to express that being
there for others
and it's
it's not a topic Being there for others
is not a topic of neglect of self.
It's [snorts] not a subject that Rabbi
Yerucham has a piece about this. Being
there for others sounds like forget
yourself, just be there for others. It's
not that way.
There's a line from Rabbi Yerucham used
to say
people were meant to assist others. A
neshama is godly as a piece of Hashem. A
neshama
A neshama wants to give. Being there for
others is not a neglect of self in the
slightest.
So, I don't want to like the subject of
being there for others is the deepest
usage of self. There's a line from Rabbi
Yerucham that an expansion of self is
being there for others.
One of my favorite
and people It's not like studied well
enough. If I'm selfish,
what a lousy I need.
The whole Indian of being there for
others You have an I need No, like
share. Let's go. You have a neshama. You
have a light.
Somebody was somebody was some person,
well-meaning person, very well was
making fun of therapy. You're too
self-focused.
We're just busy with self.
It's interesting where Yeshiva where I'm
very into guys like healing and yet the
main topic of the Yeshiva is be there
for others.
You can't be there for others if if
the taking care of self is to be there
for others.
If
I'm just selfish and that's an anee,
please. The anee is meant the ashama is
meant to shine to others, to be
others, to encourage others, to bring a
beautiful light to the world. That's
what we're designed to do. The very
taking care of self is there's a good
self to give. That's the taking care of
self is to make a good self to give.
There's a story that
Salanter that's a very important story
to me.
And I'm my sure
who was a who was who was a rebbe of
who said my koloni. Like they're about
to kill me. It's like all about the
people, for the people, invested in
Israel.
And
and I want to express there's a story
that
Salanter
Salanter spoke to his tell me to about
giving.
That was what he spoke about morning,
afternoon, day and night. He produced an
army of givers. Most of the Torah we
have in the world today, if I dare say,
is from
Salanter's tell me them.
His tell me them the altar of Slobodka
and look look what we have today.
A lot came from
we have most of what we have is by way
of Israel.
And Israel spoke to his tell me them a
lot about giving, being there for
others. Don't be selfish. Let's go. Give
and share.
Of course, that's what it's about. So
>> [snorts]
>> So
his Talmud his Talmud the Rabbi Yisrael
his talmud came
to Rabbi Yisrael Itzel came to Rabbi
Yisrael and he said, "Rabbi, I was
offered a job to affect the million
Yidden.
Quite the big steller.
To affect a million Yidden, he was
offered a job in St. Petersburg.
And a million Yidden were were he was
able to affect. It was like quite the
big steller. He was very young. He was
25 years old.
And he asked Rabbi Yisrael should he
take the job?
And Rabbi Yisrael shocked him. He
thought the sugiyah was, "Am I big
enough? Am I royal enough? Maybe
somebody older should get it." Rabbi
Yisrael said, "Itzel, you're a big
davening. Is this good for your davening
or not?"
That's so selfish. You're a davener.
Does being a rav for a million people
help your davening or not? It's It's He
was like shocked. It's a famous story in
the Musar movement. You heard this
story, right, Levi?
Very famous story. Are you heard me say
it? It's a very famous story in the
Musar, very important story. Cuz it
looks so selfish. Is it good for me or
not? You have a million people. Forget
the me. Be for others.
But it's not
it's not forget the me. Be for others.
It's the best thing for the me. Is Is
we're born to share. We have a neshama
to give. And he was asking if does this
match your neshama? Doing this giving is
this the share with your neshama? If
you're a davener, Itzel, by by its core
you're a davener.
If a davener should do this, if this is
what a davener's gift to the world, this
is the share you do it. That's the
world. So, then that's the davener does.
If it's not good for your davening,
that's not the I need to share with the
world.
I want to express a tremendous
appreciation to the dorm council today.
Moshe Rabbeinu Yahrtzeit, a rebbe who's
about who's about others who's really
about others
There's a big subject says if your rabbi
is dying to a malach to actually you
meet P U.
What is a rabbi is a malach who's
perfect? If your rabbi is not perfect,
you can't learn by him?
It's one of the hardest parts of life is
is facing a rabbi's imperfections. It's
a human being. So you find the human is
possible. What does it mean in dying to
a malach hashem to actually you meet P
U? If he's dying to a malach, let's see
if I find one thing. See if you have to
like under Clearly it means that you
feel he's a shliach Hashem. But the
nakud of a malach is somebody who mamish
feels he's on a shlichus.
If you sense in your rabbi a gaiva, a
very big ani and a and a certain type of
arrogance, run away.
A malach's all about the job. He's about
the job. There's no arrogance. There's
no gaiva. There's a person who has a
light. You have a light. I have a light.
He's not playing a certain role.
In very secular, I find secular somebody
is I am mister, I'm the teacher. I'm
rabbi so-and-so.
In a world of ruchnius,
we don't know who's bigger in a shamas.
The rabbi might be smaller than the
talmud of any any rights.
There's a malach. There's a shlichus.
There's a shlichus. He has an or. He
wants to shine his or. Maybe we'll shine
his or. Maybe we'll shine the or
together. Maybe we'll both shine a
light.
That's the malach Hashem tzuach ice. I
want to express how appreciate I'm the
dorm guys specifically today when
they're running things, organizing
things. I appreciate Yehuda what you did
today, what Michal did today, what Elio
did today. I just appreciate
tremendously people who are helping
others, doing for others, thinking about
others. We're born I promise you we're
born for that. We're born to help
others. It's not a It's not like It's
not a martyrdom. If you know anything
about the enneagram, then the sign for
two is like martyrdom.
Like a guy gives up himself, that's not
the energy of giving to others. That's
the most beautiful, the most beautiful
place of of a person's self. I see
people that are fathers, that are
husbands, and they're giving to others
is such a shleimus, such a beautiful
shleimus. Now, giving a wholesome,
healthy way, it's not a neglect of self.
I don't appreciate martyrdom. When
someone is like a broken down person and
like uh but they give it uh giving is
the is the most healthy, wholesome, what
we're born to do.
So, I want to appreciate the dorm
counselors a lot, what they're doing. I
want to be mechazek. I want to be
mechazek this inyan of sharing with
others, being there for others. That's
the tafkid of a mensch. Like never Adam
Akriti.
Who knows here besides where I leave
you, there's there's a minyan in Klal
Yisrael with certain group on Moshe
Rabbeinu's yahrtzeit every year makes
parties. So, minyan in Klal Yisrael,
does anybody know? Mar Shmuel Akriti.
The Chevra Kadisha is a minyan in Klal
Yisrael today is Zayin Adar. They make
parties. Usually it was last night
across Klal Yisrael, the Chevra Kadisha.
Why they do it on Moshe Rabbeinu's
yahrtzeit? The simplest reason is who
took care of who buried Moshe? Who was
Moshe's Chevra Kadisha? Rebbe Nachman
Hashem. Lo Yadati Kvurato.
Nobody knows where he's buried. Hashem
took care of Moshe Rabbeinu's bodies.
In every community, there yeddin who
assist Kvurah Yisrael, they assist the
body and get it ready for messa.
And they get it ready for burial. They
there's a whole system. They either low
lower the body into a mikvah.
Some tzaddikim they take the body and
the Chevra Kadisha, there's tzaddikim in
every city who take the body and put it
in a mikvah. Or the other option is
uninterrupted, they put tisha cabin.
They do it in two big buckets and it's
one one and one three bucketfuls and
they pour an never-ending kilwa. One
strain, it never ends. They like time it
exact. They pour one bucket then right
before that bucket ends, the other two
the other fellow two pour the second
bucket and then the third bucket they
put tisha cabin over the mace. So either
in a mikvah or tisha cabin. And they get
the first before they put the mace in
the mikvah, before they put on the tisha
cabin, they clean the mace's body.
They close their na'im. They clean the
entire body to make sure it's perfectly
perfectly clean. I'm sorry, no. They but
they clean the entire body making sure
it's clean. Then they either put it in a
mikvah or they pour tisha cabin over to
get the mace ready. Then they dress the
mace in takhrikhin and begotten for
kvorah, they dress they put takhrikhin
on the mace. That's what the chevra
kadisha does.
Specifically the chevra kadisha is is
celebrated is remembered and people give
staka to the chevra kadisha to support
this group that's whatever the costs are
to do this to to to bury to bury the
mace.
There were a few thoughts because klal
Yisrael has this minhag minhagei Yisrael
are crazy important. I looked this week
at the document of the Geir.
And when the mekabel mitzvot, I love it
that mekabel de'oraita says de'rabbanan
and then mekabel, they promise they're
going to keep minhagei Yisrael.
Minhagei Yisrael are like huge. [snorts]
They're on equal parts to de'oraita and
de'rabbanan. Minhagei Yisrael kodesh.
Holy holy holy minhagei Yisrael.
Minhagei Yisrael Shabbat and chag.
And because the minhag of klal Yisrael
is to do this to to celebrate the
Kadisha to think about the Kadisha on my
venue yard site?
I want to share a couple of thoughts
with the Kadisha.
I want to express
that the Kadisha first of all the Indian
is the covered of every person and
dignity of every person.
Every person's value and worth even not
alive that a human being does dignity to
the body tremendously wash we prepare
the covered of the dignity of a person.
In our Yeshiva zone's father is one of
the leaders in the world and making sure
people have
the Kadisha water berry 26 years ago the
one who trained the Kadisha zone's
father should unbelievable nice wasn't
thinking about water berry but his
father trained the Kadisha around the
world his father make sure that you're
not given the proper
not cream
and and has done a lot towards this and
done that the Kadisha gives covered to
everybody.
I think it's remarkable that zone is the
10th grade ready in the Yeshiva.
Our our revolution is a revolution of
covered of a person the dignity of a
person
and that
zone is so front lines in the revolution
of the dignity of a person and his
father somebody who taught on me is well
the respect even a dead body each person
deserves a tremendous respect I find
that very very inspiring. I like I say
it in front of zone I I like that he's
not here I think it's amazing that his
father who was so front lines on the
covered of a
and his son now assumes the position of
front line covered of each person's to
be respected to be appreciated. The
other day I was talking to cats and he
was holding his little baby his
daughter.
And one of the bachurim came by a
gashmak again Yeshiva. He said something
nice to me.
Oh, Rabbi said a nice comment. Then he
said to Raison, then he said to Rabbi
Katz something nice. And then he like
tickled the baby like it was like gave
attention to the baby.
I was so happy that the guy gets it.
The baby's also a person. I see the way
the guys respect youngsters here. It
gives me the guys get it. This bachur
like he got it. The covered the dignity
that it belongs to every person. That's
the right of every person. This is not a
place that is an attitude on a little
kid's scram. I watch in the base medrish
Friday night is a beautiful scene of
covered after the suda. People are here
just schmoozing. I watch the way the
guys treat my son Yisrael Meir. It's
like amazing. I watch guys like let him
play the games and with like a
tremendous covered. This is a bastion.
It's a fortress of covered of a person.
Of the dignity that that's the right and
the deserving of each person. One of the
most important questions of our life the
gemara says after 120 is a malach
averach that you treat your friend like
a king.
That you respect another person. It's a
big sugia specifically
of Adar. Specifically Adar which Amalek
fights the beauty of the Yid.
Amalek denies and defies the bonim
lashem, your children of Hashem. We have
a deep and profound connection to
Hashem.
Chazal say about bonim atem atem ru'im
b'Yisrael. A Yid should look nice. A Yid
should look nice. You're bonim of
Hashem. The dignity of a person.
Specifically Zayin Adar. On the month
where we where we defy Amalek. With the
downfall of Amalek and Amalek is beaten
is a big sugia of covered of a person.
The honor and dignity that comes to a
person. I wanted to say that. I wanted
to say the importance of the physical of
our body.
It's some people become very spiritual
and they forget about the body. I think
it's beautiful that a body is prepared
for pure it's washed. The body has
eternal value. I say eternal, the body's
fleeting, but the body's involved in
mitzvahs. The body's a shotef. Where is
the main scar that comes to you and I?
The main scar is going to be
Olam Haba is going to be wonderful.
There's Olam Haba, there's Gan Eden, and
then the neshama goes to Gan Eden, but
that's not the main scar for a person.
That's wonderful. Gan Eden is incredible
and you and I will be together, we'll
feel it, we'll experience it. The
neshama experience it, but it's not
fair. The body didn't get to go to Gan
Eden. The body put on filling. The body
ran base games. Not fair. The body did
chesed. The body was involved. In the
main place of scar, the iker place is
Olam Haba and Olam Haba. They'll be the
neshama and the body together to get the
main scar. Olam Haba and Olam Haba is
the main time of g'mol cuz it's the main
scar is the body and the soul together.
And it's so cool by me that Yidden the
body would say okay, the neshama is out.
Now the body No, the body still has
value. Physical. It was it something
precious. There's something incredible
about chevra kadisha. About the eternity
of the body. If you know anything about
Moshe Rabbeinu, Moshe Rabbeinu it says
like like
that Moshe Rabbeinu his body became cool
like this.
Moshe Rabbeinu's body became holy. He
was he was buried by Hashem means
there's eternity to his body.
And on Moshe Rabbeinu's yahrtzeit we
call Yisrael thinks about the chevra
kadisha, the importance of the body. The
older I get, I get much more into money.
Much more. See, money is a gift. The
world is like mamish I I'm into khasidus
pruta from a penny. Mamish, you take a
pruta, you mekadesh anisha.
Money is beautiful, is precious. Things
are used. Things have eternal value
lifnei Hashem. Use them. A gift from
Hashem and meant to use in beautiful
ways.
The fact that the body of a Yid that the
physical body af pesara yesh kein
lavetach is treated with dignity to me
is a big thing.
It actually is like the most misnagid
Amalek.
Amalek takes the bris mila and throws it
up. Amalek says, "Stop saying the
physical can connect to God. Knock it
off."
Hashem is Hashem. They they're
ma'aminim. There's a line from Rav
Hutner about Amalek that it's Chazal say
kol bidei shamayim chutz miyirei
shamayim.
And Amalek says a kol
Amalek says a kol bidei shamayim afilu
yirei shamayim.
But there's Hashem. Hashem doesn't want
help from a person. A person connect
Hashem. Amalek throws the mila klappei
malo.
And what's What do you say?
Ishbitzer says also?
He says a kol bidei shamayim?
Right. That
There's a whole shtickel. Trust me.
Trust me. Josh, there's a whole
shtickel. Ishbitzer and Amalek are
remarkably close. I I'm afraid to say
this here.
Never make fun of some The enemy does a
darkest the Ishbitzer has a shtickel
what the chiddush of Amalek. He like
hears it cuz in Ishbitz but avada it's
not the same. Avada it's the danger.
Ishbitz gone wrong could be chas
v'shalom terrible. People think it
doesn't matter what we do. I promise it
matters.
Ishbitz gives people big chizuk not to
be afraid.
Not to be afraid. there's a certain
courage and
but it's a it's a Sugya Josh, a huge
Sugya to the point that the Ishbitzer
was like Mazbir Amalek to me cuz in
Ishbitz they weren't like they didn't
live with certain type of fears, you're
going to hurt Hashem, not Hashem's he
wants us there was a certain courage
they promoted, they were much less
afraid to do things, to be things and he
was promoting something, so Josh is
right, but the Maiseh Amalek's as a
Kodesh Hashem Yirei Shamayim, we know
that's not true to me Yirei Shamayim, it
matters the activity of a human being
matters tremendously, very significant,
the physical of a human being matters
and the Chevra Kadisha which takes care
of the body of a Yid, the body of a Yid
that was serving Hashem, that gave
Tzedakah, that layed Tefillin, that ran
a Bais Cain, the body of a Yid is
Hashuv,
that's all part of the Chevra Kadisha,
the body of a Yid.
It leads me this this Nekudah leads me
to the third thing I wanted to say
today, from my Rebbe and something very
very important I think very important my
Rebbe taught me.
My Rebbe said the Chazal that Haman was
very happy that the lottery came out to
be to Chas Chas v'Shalom to kill Am
Yisrael on to hurt Am Yisrael in Adar,
he was happy because Moshe Rabbeinu died
in in Adar.
Now, if you learn the Gemara Kedushin
you have to know that Moshe died in
Zayin Adar, you have to know three
Chazals, you have to know that the
months that when the that we stopped
having man
on the second day Pesach, you have to
know that they were that they had man
b'Klalem for 40 days, there's like so
many things you have to know to figure
out that Moshe died Zayin Adar, to know
he was born Zayin Adar is an open Pasuk.
Moshe Rabbeinu on the last conversation
with Am Yisrael said says Ben A of
it's my birthday today. Remind on the
day of his death said it's his birthday.
We know that said I shall be demolished
I say I'm shelter the king. Sad the king
are nifter on the day they're born. It's
uncanny a nice number of sad the king
when nifter right around in a very close
way. Says I shall be demolished I say
I'm shelter the king. He fills out
He fills out the lives of sad the king.
And my sure I been who was was was was
was nifter the day he was born. So to
know my sure I been who was born Zion
out of the day was nifter is an open
possuk. To know we died Zion out of the
Yom Kippur to be a London. Asked my
rebbe and I loved he asked this about
our rebbe and my sure I been who my
rebbe asked how man knows he said others
a great time my sure I been who was
nifter Zion out of so that Haman's a
great salandan. He doesn't know an open
possuk he was born Zion out of and
Haman's mistake is granted he was nifter
Zion out of but he was born Zion out of.
That's Haman's mistake.
And my rebbe said to us that a mole like
denies denies the human beings
connection to a sham denies the eternity
of a person.
As a matter of fact the ramban says
bonna matan location means eternally in
my book. That's the ramban says. He says
laces do don't overly grieve to
amaze for your children of a sham means
we have eternity with children of a
sham. We're shy out to nits key is don't
grieve to amaze. We're shy out to
eternity. Don't grieve too much. That's
the ramban learns. Says my rebbe
we're connected to the rabbinic shalom.
We're connected to a sham. That my sure
was born is eternally relevant. Haman
who denies a connection to Hashem said,
"It all ended in Adar. It ended in
Adar."
It all ended in Adar. That's what Haman
says. So, he celebrates Adar is a bad
time. They lost Moshe. Why does he care
about that though? That's all that
matters to Haman. There's no eternity.
So, it ended. So, what was ended?
Haman's mistake is he was born. We don't
even care ended. He was born. He lived.
He lived is eternal.
So, Haman's mistake is the very mistake
of Amalek that a Yid is not mikusher to
Hashem. A kesher to Hashem means
eternal. We're connected to the eternal
one. It means what happened is important
and remembered and scare for all
eternity. So, because it's pasha that
because of this as well, we celebrate
the chevra kadisha. Those who are giving
kavod to dignity to the Yid may have a
expressing that there's more. There's
more. It's not over. Respect the body
when to others it looks like it's over.
It's not over at all. There's
there's Hashem
and we're
the guf of of a Yid represent meaning
misunderstanding that's eternal what was
done.
I want to express to the chevra on the
day on the day of
On the day the chevra kadisha is
remembered, I want to say that that I'm
in my own experience and I miss my
father terribly and I
but I want to express that I'm connected
to him in a certain way more than ever
in my life.
Mamash mamash and and I see him and I
think about him and know that he's in my
book.
And I want to express on on this day of
Moshe Rabbeinu's of Moshe Rabbeinu's
yahrzeit but also the day he was born
that that there's eternity. There's my a
bird, there's a mason.
And that which was stays. My
was with us.
And the the lessons of my shed what he
created and he and he
my my bird my
he gets scared and he's connected to
what was.
I don't know why since
I throw I don't know what happened to me
after I don't I can't even explain it.
And
I throw I was with my I don't know why I
was dominated. It was a weird thing.
It came out of nowhere. It wasn't his
yard site. I was very much think about
my ready to the point I was going to
tire. I said I'm talking about I don't
know why I don't know what happened. I'm
talking about my ready there and I spoke
something that I felt connected very
much to him. When I got to tire out of
the blue
this sad guy I admire a lot tells me
that my ready was his principal and
shared two nuggets two precious stories
about my ready that I appreciated a lot.
Both stories I appreciate it was like
that
it was on my mind my ready and I go meet
at he says oh your ready was my
principal and he tells me two beautiful
stories
about my ready was like a precious
thing. So I want to express on Zion
other
that the goodness we do the good deeds
we do the kindnesses that endures
forever. The
that
that goodness endures it's forever it's
for all eternity good deeds that people
do.
All of us are human and we sometimes are
in a space of my the catness. Above will
come to you. What's it worth? I do this
I that's a normal thing. It's my the
catness.
Right now I'm my ready yard side I'm
like feeling my the catness. A guy does
something that's like eternally valuable
that's like really big. I dive in once.
I have in Yeshiva a whole mile of 11th
grade and I want to incorporate it's the
grade I feel I'm in emotionally and I
want to [clears throat] incorporate
this. Sometimes when a bocher is doing
well, we make it like oh, better better
like you're on the derech, like you're
getting there.
And there's a shtickel white to that.
There's a mile of one time. Lifnei
Hashem, somebody gave a dollar to
tzedakah once. It's like
it's not all in context of what
somebody's becoming. It's a There's a
sheker to that. There's a big lie to
that. Now, there's something to becoming
and there's a consistency and there's
something to that.
There is something There's something
there. He's a ben Torah. He's a godol.
There's something there, but there's
also something mamash to the mitzvah. To
us who don't believe in Amalek, we
believe in connection to Hashem. So, I I
mamash A guy learns and I was thinking
sheer to for a day. I don't want it to
be Oh, he's much better.
He learns He learns for an hour.
You know, whole guy comes in the
afternoon and we learn. Not everything's
on a derech towards and I want there to
be an understanding of the value. We sat
down and learned the pasuk together. But
as he pushed me to learn more inside
with the chevre rightfully, I already
listened to my friend tells me I already
listened last night. We learned another
gemara. It could be I'm going to share
with the chevre cuz it broke up with not
everybody got a chance to hear that was
going as that Reb Ezi taught us. Maybe
I'll share with the chevre what Reb Ezi
taught us.
But I want to express to the chevre this
nekuda that Moshe Rabbeinu was born in
Adar. To us To us, Adar's an auspicious
time. Beautiful time. You know why Moshe
was born? Haman says, "But he died now."
Nobody hears Haman. We We don't know
what Haman's talking about. He lived
now.
Haman's But he died is Amalek. Is is
can't connect to the eternal one. We
believe that you'd connect to Hashem. We
believe a human being connects to
Hashem. What do you mean? What do you
mean doesn't a neshama function with
Hashem? That's eternal. Moshe Rabbeinu
was born in Adar. That's what the yid
remembers. Us chassidim, even on a
yahrtzeit, we make a seudah, we
celebrate. There are people that fast on
a yahrtzeit. There's different minhogei
Yisroel. I could explain the reason we
fast. I want to explain chassidim and
litvish both. Why do chassidim they're
both saying the emes? Chassidim make a
seudah on a yahrtzeit, they don't say
tachnun, and some yidden fast on a
yahrtzeit. Beautiful minhag Yisroel.
Beautiful minhag Yisroel to fast. The
reason to fast is the neshama is judged
every year on the yahrtzeit. Now, why is
it judged? It was judged already the
descendants, the people they impact in
this world. The neshama actually comes
on the yahrtzeit and the three days
before and after. The neshama is mamash
here. People who who understand things,
can sense it, can see it, can feel it,
can understand it, the neshama comes
here on the yahrtzeit. It's impact on
this world on a yahrtzeit is very very
strong. Very very strong the impact
here, and the neshama is judged about
its experience here. And it obviously
changes yearly. New people doing more
mitzvahs, impacted, encouraged, the
zicharon, descendants. So, the neshama
is judged on the yahrtzeit.
Also, that inyan of being judged
relative to the neshama fast that don't
shul
to give more schar to the departed.
That's the inyan of the fasting on the
yahrtzeit. The chassidim will make
seudahs, are celebrating the mamash
besimcha this neshama's eternity. It
lived, it mamash made an impact. The
very seudah is celebrating and giving
more schar. That's their response to
being judged. The The mamash is still
getting s'char. They're like excited.
They're actually on the yahrtzeit
they're tasting the neshama's alive. Why
is the neshama getting s'char? It's in
olam haba. Oh, cuz the impact it had
here. So, oh, mamish still impactful.
They like taste eternity. They make a
seudah. They celebrate. No tachlis.
Yahrtzeit. Moshe Rabbeinu's yahrtzeit.
He lived. He impacted. He mattered. Look
at his people. Look at Am Yisrael. So,
Hashem gave us this precious neshama
that's still impacting. They're tasting
eternity. They make a seudah. So,
there's the minhagim
of us Chassidim that make a seudah and
the minhagim of us
Litvaks who fast and both of our
minhagim are beautiful. Us and us are
beautiful. Two beautiful minhagim that
each make sense and are rooted in in
truthful things and in truthful ideas.
Many people do
Yeah, yeah. Many people do What many
people do on the yahrtzeit is they put
out especially amongst the Chassidim
they put out tikkun and they want people
to make a bracha. Like it should be an
ilui for the neshama. Should be an ilui
for the neshama. They make a bracha.
It's a tikkun for the neshama and all
the brachas. People make a bracha. So,
you'll [clears throat] go to a shul. A
guy will have a little bramfen, a little
schnapps and have a little some cake and
people make him a zaynes shuckle do it.
You go to a shul, you see a little stuff
out, get the name and leilui nishmas.
Should be an ilui for the neshama. You
make a zaynes. You make a shuckle. Very,
very kedai.
Amen. Amen. Amen.
I think I want to tell you Reb Ezi's
raid from last night. Should I tell the
chevre? Those Some got it. Some didn't.
It's from Reb Kohn. It was actually very
intelligent. Yehuda, should I tell the
chevre first that you got the chevre You
got it last night?
>> Yeah, I was with him there.
It was cool that it happened in real
time. We had cashes and of Essie Kadarka
saved the day.
If guys can bear with me because I fell
badly last night. We had guys in and out
and it was hard to stay focused
rightfully.
It was a snow day. If I could quickly
tell you what happened last night.
Gersh, I want you to hear this. I think
it's pretty cool. David, tell me. Chaim,
tell me if you like this.
But I want to quickly I'll say it very
very Should I say it again? You know, I
thought it was good.
I thought it was good. I thought it was
a michaya.
But maybe it's too happy with Essie. A
little happy.
My tata wouldn't be mask I don't think
but it was
>> [clears throat]
>> Maybe. It's
and there's a reason for the name I
assume because his birthday was a week
before Purim. This was Purim. This was
Purim. This was Purim. This is
This is our Mordecai. This is our
Mordecai Tzaddek and I want to express
the story There's a lot that we we're
going to study Mordecai Tzaddek and
there's a lot to study. The nekuda The
nekuda and I we speak about Avraham
Ivri. The nekuda being an Ivri of being
a yachid going against the tide is a
metzius of the power of one.
Mordecai Tzaddek the power of one like
Kambaliza is unmoving and does what's
right and that causes a whole
revolution.
And I want to express the power of one
of our Mordecai. In the dorm, the care,
the love. I was talking about the tish
he was running Friday night. It's a
scene that was very beautiful to me. I'm
a very visual guy.
My picture Mordecai sitting on that
throne and like running that room on
leil Shabbos. It was just warm in there.
People felt seen. People felt respected.
They felt understood. It was something
that was nefle. I want to express that I
discussed I started here that I'm into
working on self and we're into being
selfless. So what's going on in water
way they're so into this therapy thing
just give.
When a person sensitive to their own I
watch Mordechai who's incredibly attuned
in his own understands his own stuff
could be present to others. And I want
to express that to an advertisement. Any
work we do on our self we're born to
give what has for Shalom we're not into
being selfish and being self-absorbed
has for Shalom look at Mordechai. Here's
a person who's understanding himself
very self-aware. What's it for it's the
benefit he could listen to another Yid
he can understand. He can connect he can
relate he can be present to another. So
I want to just appreciate you've made a
massive impact on this Yeshiva
Mordechai. I thank you.
>> [applause]
>> I want to express that this year I'm
talking more about Mordechai's it's the
last year he's going to be in Yeshiva.
The whole Yeshiva is going to his
chasunah. Single I'm able to
as Sham will continue his career but as
a bochur it's fun this year very
important to speak. But because of the
whole Yeshiva I'm like I can picture the
scene of that past the Yeshiva at
Mordechai's chasunah. It's going to be
that you should you fly in to throw
Mexico for Mordechai's chasunah.
You come in maybe you'll bring even the
prime minister or president of Mexico as
a Yid. Shame Mrs. Mrs. Shamebound should
come too. For Mordechai's chosson
everybody should come.
He told me she's not good to the Yidden
I need to call her up I need to speak to
her. She's one of us. She's one of us
she has
Tell her from me that she has to be nice
to Yidden. Tell her she has she's a Yid
she should be nice to Yidden.
She should she should she should.
I really I want to appreciate what
Mordechai what you do what you mean
there. Thank you very much, Mordechai.
>> [applause]
>> Very very few people in the in the
history of this mesivta is baruch Hashem
this is our 17th year.
Very very very few people have more
impact in these 17 years on what the
mesivta is.
And in in in real ways we've grown a
lot. The yeshiva's grown a lot. The
ribbeim, the the whole minhag of
less forced, less more like in touch
with the neshamos. Mordechai is allergic
to that which is like forced. When
you're forcing something you mamash are
good. You don't have to like force
something.
That revolution, Mordechai, you're a big
part of it and I appreciate all you've
taught me and our friendship and the
friendship you've given to the whole
yeshiva. Thank you, Mordechai Sandler.
God bless you.
