as I went through my teens in my
20s um I got further away from um you
know practicing Yiddish kite then I
heard about Janet the rabbi of the kabad
uh and tenek might have mentioned it to
me but in any event I I made a phone
call I was connected I spoke with
someone and they asked me a little bit
about my background and uh then they uh
connected me with a a teacher and that
teacher was Rabbi Ley
Kaplan and um I studied with him for a
little over a year and a half I it was
just a really wonderful experience um I
I really feel truly privileged to have
been connected with him he was an
amazing
teacher and we uh he asked me what I
wanted to learn and um he was very
flexible and there were several times
where you know I would tell him that I
felt I was getting so much from doing
this with him and he would every time
tell me how he felt he was getting so
much out of it and uh I sense very
strongly that he he didn't just say that
they were there were not just words um
that he really felt for whatever the
different reasons were that learning
with me um someone who's obviously a lot
less learned than him it there was
something uh you know very positive that
he got out of it you know looking back
on it it was something I look forward to
uh tremendously every week and I always
felt um felt terrific when I got off the
phone with him um and and the other
wonderful thing about it was that I
could ask ask him any question I want
related to what we were learning not
related to what we were learning and he
he was always um you know very gracious
and forthcoming in in answering my
questions I would strongly encourage
anybody that is uh considering uh doing
this and being a teacher it's a
wonderful experience and what you can
give to somebody as well as what you can
get out of it is uh is really a
tremendous thing
