Thousands of chassidim from across the country and around the world gathered at the gravesite of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai to participate in this remarkable event, as the Rebbe lit the traditional torch in the central courtyard, accompanied by powerful singing and overwhelming emotion that filled the entire mountain. Throughout the Shabbos spent by the Rebbe in Meron together with his chassidim, a rare and elevated atmosphere prevailed — deep and heartfelt prayers, uplifting Shabbos melodies, unforgettable spiritual inspiration, and moments of unity and closeness among the large crowd who came to be in his presence.
