The F-82 Twin Mustang, made by essentially bolting two P-51s together, was an usual aircraft that was designed to protect B-29 Bombers on long range bombing runs against Japan during the Second World War. The F-82 did not see service in the Second World War but was very effective in the opening stages of the Korean War, which is covered in our episode "Propellers to Jets: The Korean War Dogfights That Changed Air Combat Forever" Follow The War Office Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, or The War Office Podcast YouTube Channel.
