have sukot uh will speak briefly about it and um more opportunities to more opportunities to get to a place where we need to be all year today will be for a for Mara Julie sha Ben fan Ben abam Talia of will have and a very special thank you to all of the people that donated and are continuing to donate um for the campaigns we had recently whether it's to uh feed the poor in is or it's the r campaign or the Yip Campaign which also went to the poor get a message today from uh one of the uh people that we have um managing the area of yavel um it's just a simply an area full of poor one after another one tragic story after another and um it's you know many of them you know we've helped already uh in the last uh year or so you know and uh but um because it was you know the the demand was growing because of what's going on in Isel they're shutting down the country and so on uh it got to a point where you know the the person himself that that's running it decided not to tell anybody until last minute you know pretty much to tell people just come come pick up their basket or to uh ask them you know go and drop off the basket at their house with the food uh with some other areas like NATA and other plac in yush and other areas that we did in Israel uh they gave food in other places they um gave them a card with money in it to go shopping like a supermarket card but in this particular area yel this tadik and her tadik husband they go and uh um order the food and uh the meat and all the different things and the chicken and the food for the house and so on and so forth and they make you know huge boxes of beautiful amazing food now over the last uh few times that we've done it uh you see the people were so happy excited to get it and so on uh many people that were having schom bite problems uh you know because of financial reasons bashem got to uh you know get SCH they were able to make peace uh you know kids that were having difficulties in in different areas now uh just a little bit of uh food and sustenance and just simply seeing that is watching and answering prayers helped them a lot but this time she decided not to tell them just simply because uh it's a uh she wanted to make sure that we have enough for everybody and and so on so anyway so she told everybody last minute and uh she sent me I can't even hear the whole thing it's just it's hard it's too hard to to for me to to hear it and she I don't know apparently in Israel I don't know if it's uh like that in other countries but in Israel the phones over there automatically every phone has like every call is recorded like here I can't even get an app that records a call without making that stupid beep sound beep beep be every two seconds who wants that uh so uh you know it's like you I'm not on the phone that much but anyway I I want want to have that feature but it's not possible in Israel it's standard apparently that all phones are automatically recorded so she has all these recordings of the phone call and she sent me like a compilation of the calls and when she tells the people Hey listen we got you food for the for this for that and he just starts hearing people cry like yeah it's happen happiness but I mean it's extraordinary happiness people were two days away from the and they didn't haven't eaten in a day or two they started fasting already for uh you know so unbelievable you hear people crying you hear people happy and uh you know it gives you a little bit of a different perspective on life and on how the uh the times are different for different people you know it's a uh you know right now you could say yeah the whole world is suffering with Corona it's not really true it's not really true with all due respect to everybody here none of you are suffering okay I'm not suffering either from this Corona in fact I think my life has improved since this Corona virus is improved why are we reaching a lot more people the amount of kiru that we're doing has at least doubled if not quadrupled you know amount of work has increased drastically and I'm dying slowly but it's a different story it's my own issue uh but you know that but in other parts of the world specifically in Israel you're seeing certain people certain areas many of them are in other parts even of of the Us and other places where the effect is very different very very different it reminds me of a story of one time went uh to go raise money and um in the uh came to one of the people that uh he knows well it's a rich guy that always donates good guy and uh you know when you're raising money in the old days it's very different than raising money today you know and today you want to raise money pretty much all you need is you need a you know a few people that know people you know perhaps hire a uh one of these companies that uh does the marketing for you maybe use one of these campaigns softwar that they have to to uh encourage online donors and so on you see you have a campaign you see these campaigns you know raising 20 you know a million dollar in 24 hours oh bonus round million and a half and they ra i they have how they do it's amazing um and you see people are raising a lot of money very very easily and uh places that in many places were not known until the campaign like no one even knew this place existed until they donated part of the million dollars to it and people are raising money and they're they're having a uh successful time raising money how many people are actually getting closer to Hashem doing chuva as a result of all of this money that's only who knows but uh the point being is that money raising today is you know more or less very very different than it was in the past this also opens up the door to a lot of fraud as I've told you guys in the past there's a lot of donor fraud lot of it that's why I generally don't recommend anybody anymore people tell oh listen my my my rabbi's co is raising money my col my this I thank you you know you could recommend it I'm not a marketing company you know we have our own issues our own problems and I also can't trust you but I don't want to tell you that cuz you want to get offended so you know we have to raise our own money generally speaking I don't help I don't help anybody anymore just because I've seen too much ugly things uh in the last few years uh with donor fraud where you see campaigns that are just outright fake you know one woman uh is uh raising money just a few months ago raising money oh yeah my my my husband he's in a uh he got into a sick and he's dying and he's this and we have these kids and that and they and okay great so she has a campaign on some you know one of these websites and someone one of my students calls me goes listen Rabbi do you see this I said yeah it's one of the million things being publicized today what's the problem he goes it's fake I said why it's fake go I know the woman I know the woman and she's not exactly all there but anyway just to make sure that you know other people I talk to we called the husband the husband left her he's in Florida he's having a good time and he says listen she's a liar I'm very well I'm perfectly healthy she just wants to make some money that's it no the first story I got got countless stories like this this why I always tell people if you're going to donate money you have to look at it as an investment just like if you would buy a house you would do comps you know comps comparables you would look at other houses what this one sold what that one sold you get an A adjuster you'd get a appraiser you get all types of people to give you second opinions this is worth it to to donate it was a group of over here in Florida they said they were raising $2 million for a child that was sick it came out they the uh the insurance company paid for the claim insurance company paid for the claim they raised over $2 million raised over $2 million and but the insurance company paid for it how many people got the $2 million back all I maybe maybe a few maybe may I would say at best maybe 1% of the people got the money back that they donated for $2 million why because they didn't make a public publication for it it's like you have to find out from somebody who found out that was posted somewhere in some like Odd Place who kept the money the rabbis the three people that are you know said oh no we're going to start a new Foundation to help people with this disease that only six people in the world have yeah okay buddy and your kitchen two you're going to help and and another car another this another that a lot of donor fraud a lot of donor fraud but there are a lot of really good places that are raising money and are taking advantage of the recent system that's uh been developed in the world and you know they're getting to people that would never get to otherwise but that wasn't always the case at the time of none of these computers and Technologies were were there in fact raising money was a very very difficult thing to do needless to say it's always difficult but uh it's even more difficult back then because you had to literally go door too and you have to travel you have to leave your family and your kids and your students and everybody and go to different countries and yes hello yeah I'm raising money for is she what you never heard of you're never going to benefit from because I live in a completely different country but I'm the rabbi of this and that and hopefully this Jew will care enough about you that he's going to give you a few dollars and I know from uh one of the biggest rabbis in the world today raidon Ben Moshe is the head Rabbi of J he's told us some stories he came a few times he comes to America every year and uh to raise some money he still raises the old the oldfashioned way and a few years ago he came and he uh somebody told him listen why don't you go to this guy he's extremely rich he has you know hundreds of millions of dollars and the dies get go to him big rabbis usually get easier to raise money you think so he goes to this guy okay listen what do you do he start telling him this that half hour 40 minutes after 40 minutes from one of the not coming to you right especially if you have the money no after 40 minutes you go the guy says very good he uh goes under his desk he open something what was it little refrigerator refrigerator bottle of water he gives him he goes give him that and a dollar $1 now from our perspective I mean you could laugh you can cry you can do a lot of things but the G know that that person is going to get for that embarrassment of a that of the T it's not going to be a laughing manner but unfortunately in raising money there's a lot of b a lot of Biz lot of lot of embarrassment lot of a uh horrible things that a person has to go through in order to you know get through the of the person and get to the uh people have asked me several times well you know he used to raise $10 million a month from clients for Investments so obviously you could do this why don't you call people and say I'll never do it I'm not going to do it I haven't done it I'm not going to do it why because I know myself I know my and I also know what's what's what's really on the line if I start talking to people about money like seriously I start telling listen send money this amount of money that amount of like I used to do in the business world that's pretty much the last day that that person is ever going to listen to my Torah why from that point on it becomes business I'm already uncomfortable talking about it as it is some people that donate from time to time and some of them donate decent amount of money and you know they they say oh listen right Rabbi listen I just sent you another few thousand I tell them first thing I tell him why do you always call me you send me money why do you send me like shabbat shalom or a problem or something why is it always when you send money why always like they're well that's good news yeah right you sent the money why you think it's going to come it's not going to come if you didn't send it it's going to come in one way or the other but call other times too not because it's just money don't make it a money relationship why I don't know it's a it's a problem when it becomes money based and a few times we had to reject money we had to do certain things why because I know there's a certain test and part of the test for myself is is the whole money situation can we raise a lot more money sure but it requires us to change and that's not something we're willing to do um but at the time uh desperate times there's Desperate Measures you know there's certain times that a person needs to do certain things that he wouldn't do ordinarily and many times the uh whether it was the pic or or many of the Giants Giants of Torah that alv alv would just be a a dust under one of their shoes uh you know as they would leave their Torah they would leave their they would leave their families and they would go to different foreign places to go and raise money why because they got out to a point where they realize that right now there's no food there's no food for the kids there's no food food for the tal there's simply you know no electric there's nothing so it's either we're going to die or uh you know we go raise money so that's what they would do and that's how they build empires of Torah with one time a rich person came to rovic that uh you know was saying listen you should uh donate x amount of money to toov had four 5,000 students in his Yesa I think it at the time or maybe even until today the biggest Yeshiva in the world uh and the rich guy says why should I make such a big sacrifice I worked hard for my money why should I make such a big sacrifice so says to him says you think you're making a big sacrifice cuz you well you're writing a check and you works out for your money said I made a much bigger sacrifice than you and I continued to make a much bigger sacrifice than you gu says how I work all day I make this money all you you think making $100 million easy $500 million easy you make money you don't make money decided to give it to you said I gave up my life because when I was young already when I was a teenager they told me you're going to be the next told me told me you're going to be lead after me already when I was young young boy you're going to be I gave all of that up to go raise money so I could feed these kids so they continue learning toah meaning I can't learn T when I'm raising money I can't learn T when I see kids hungry I see kid has Hess in his pants I can't I can't do all that so all day all night I'm raising money raising money so yeah he learns T but not t like the uh like he can I gave up my entire life for this did you give up your whole life for this money no people don't understand they think that you know because of the many unfortunate bad stories of Rabbi Steels or a guy that calls himself a rabbi steals or the embezzlement or the scam or the tax evasion unfortunately every other day there's another horror with with you know a someone that calls thems a rabbi or religious figure and money tied to it every other day there's another horrible story and of course the the ones that hate the T they make sure to publicize it even if it's three years after the fact why to make sure everybody knows but unfortunately it comes out they don't even need to republish it because there's new stories all the time there's new stories all the time and it's sad it's sad because that is what people think the Torah world is when they're not close to the Torah World they think that that's what it is they think that these Rim that are embezzling money stealing money and doing all types of things that are uh you know immoral with the money they think that oh see so what why should I donate the money to this guy you know let me donate to the Red Cross as if the Red Cross is any better person that did an analysis on the uh big nonprofit organizations uh found that on the average we're not talking about Jewish organizations you just did an average on the big ones the Red Cross the Blue Cross the uh all these organizations that have billions of dollar so between 98 to 99 Cents out of every single dollar that's donated goes to the people running the organization meaning only one penny to two pennies actually goes to the cause itself all these causes yeah they have you see there their their financial statement they're public see the financials yeah we raised this year $100 million $500 million a billion dollar this and that see how much money went at the actual cause it's a tragedy a tragedy and many many there's many frauds in the in the donation well but unfortunately it's not just in a secular world it's not just in a Christian world it's also in a Jewish World quite a few stories in just the last year of different people that uh were involved in all types of uh illegal activities with donations money uh unfortunately some very big names some people that even got recently uh uh popular for for bad reasons but nonetheless uh you know we're trying to make good out of it only to find out that in reality they were really bad people they were doing bad things with their money and unfortunately this is happening all over the place either way you do not judge Judaism based on individual Jews you judge Judaism based on the Torah itself what does the Torah say if this person follows what the Torah say says he's a good Jew if he doesn't then he's not a good Jew that's it simple simple if the rabbi is making big SS of he's not a rabbi you can't say oh this religious guy or this religious Rabbi he uh he stole all this money he's not religious and he's not a rabbi if he stole like you're saying he did and if he did all these immoral things not only he's not he's not a rabbi he's not religious why because the Torah which is what makes you religious says not to do it so if he himself is not following the Torah that he says he's preaching then he's not I and if he's not religious obviously he's not a rabbi unless he's reformed which it's a different religion so in the old days it was very different in the old days theim would go and raise money when it was desperate times and one time went to one of his journeys to raise money and he got to a place he went to one of his donors that's a rich person and um when the uh the guy uh got there it was snowstorm usually snowstorm you stay home when lives are on the line there's no uh staying home there's no calling in sick oh Rabbi listen I uh I have a headache I'm not going to come today okay okay I have a headache come snowstorm they went if it was for a million dollars you'd go million dollars you'd go it doesn't matter if you have a headache but that's the difference different you know people's priorities are different listen I'm sneezing a little today so I'm not going to come for the shoe for a week okay no problem but if it was a million dollars every shoe you'd come come snowstorm while the snow is going on top of it it's freezing weather of Europe Russia sh it's like you know the Gom has you know the hot place and the cold place I believe that the cold place is in Russia it's very cold over there apparently so anyway is there he gets to the rich person's house knocks on the door the butler opens the door come come come come in no no please I want to talk to Mr such and such he goes he doesn't want to come in doesn't want to come in what do you mean he doesn't want to come in I don't know I asked him he doesn't want to come in go he runs over his door he goes for come come come goes no no no I need to talk to you okay you want come in no I need to talk to you right now okay so they're both outside now the the the owner he's like at the doorstep but is outside the co the snow coming down on him it's freezing it's freezing and he starts talking he says you know why I'm here no for tell me says the kids the kids at the in bonovich in banovich they don't have any food we are now sharing a meal for three for one for for a meal for one person between three four people and top of it some of them their shoes not shoes any sandals and top of it this and goes come here no no no I need to tell you hold on one second I need to tell you also the clothes they're growing the kids are growing the kids are growing they not going the ti because they can't eat that much but the the clothes is shrinking and it's holes and he starts telling them all the details of the agony and pain of the 400 students that he has and you know wasn't one of these people that would preach and do something different if there wasn't this family said ABA uh we have uh can we get chicken no why why why can't we get chicken Because unless we have chicken for all 400 of my kids we're not going to eat chicken at home we're not going to eat chicken at home his own kids his own kids which some of them became they said if there wasn't food in the Yesa exactly like we have at home not eating if they're not eating we're not eating so starts telling this Bal all of the different issues the shoes are now sandals the the the jackets are no longer fit the shirts have holes in them the food is being split among several kids and so on and so forth 20 minutes 20 minutes of details in the freezing cold the guy is freezing wman is free everybody is freezing he's going on and on after 20 minutes he says so what do you think are you going to be able to help this year the says for the of course I'm going to help okay he comes into the house the guy is catching his breath cuz it's so cold and after a few minutes of you know catching himself he says I don't understand every you you come to me I I try to give but I just don't understand why couldn't you just tell me everything you just said for the last 20 minutes inside next to the fire where it's warm and everything says the the does not feel the pain of the an the rich does not feel the pain of the of the poor doesn't feel the pain of the poor say he's hungry would do you know what hungry feels like you ate your third meal by 12:00 what what what do you know about hungry cold what cold do you know it's 500° in your house if you want it to be you have enough fires in every room to build to build a whole Factory what do you know about it the does not feel the pain of the I wanted you to feel the pain of these little boys I wanted you to feel what they're feeling a little for 20 minutes not all day because blessed you but I wanted you to feel a little bit 20 minutes of what they deal with 24 hours a day before you decide what you're going to give and that's the reality sometimes people ask me listen I want to get better and I was on the way of getting better I started reading I started learning I started doing Yip arrived arrived I did all types of things but and I thought I was going in the right track I was getting better and everything was going good and I started becoming modest and I started this and I started that and I started doing MIT I started feeling like a little Benish I started feeling like a little babaali I was all good everything happen everything was fantastic Rabbi but then all of a sudden the holiday came out or Shabbat came out or something happened and boom I exploded on my wife I exploded on my husband I exploded on my kids I exploded on my boss on my employee started yelling at them things that I haven't said in years came out of my mouth all types of vile words and language I got so angry I almost wanted to kill the person I didn't even know why I was so angry and I felt like everything I built went to the garbage and I can't get myself back I can't get myself back to be the little B that I thought I was what do I do how do I get back it wasn't normal for me to act this way cuz I changed already but apparently not enough so what do I do to get back sometimes the Satan waits for a person around the corner and lets him lets her build why because you see sometimes even in recent past a few big rabbis that were doing a lot of really good things one day start going crazy start doing strange things start doing things that are against al start doing things that are against the uh the Tora start doing things that are against theem and it's like where did this come from how how could it be this is one of those things this is one of those weapons that the Satan doesn't use often but nonetheless when it uses it it's very very strange and very difficult to deal with for everyone around who doesn't know why it's happening but this is also so one of the things that a person doesn't have to deal with this problem but still could apply this particular thing for any problem is that you built yourself you buildt yourself you built yourself and all of a sudden you did something something awful and you feel like you can't get yourself back up so as we know Hashem runs the world with certain principles that he gave for himself certain rules that he gave for himself one of them is measure for measure and he rewards measure for measure he punishes measure for measure if you steal from somebody someone will steal from you at some other point down the road not because that's the only way that has can take away the money from you but also because there's a certain pain that a person feels when someone betrays them when someone violates their privacy and takes their stuff and anything that happens in the world we have a principle in the Torah no one gets punished no one gets hurt even in their finger even in their finger without there being a sin attached to it whether it's in this life or the previous life is irrelevant bottom line is no one in the world gets hurt even in their finger without there being a bed of sh saying this person deserves it this deserves it see why this big Rabbi deserves it yes not because I said so said so maybe not during his life maybe this discarnation he was a complete sad but apparently there was still an unpaid bill from a previous life oh this baby deserves what did he do there's no such thing as baby in Judaism there's the we all here in Mount sa meaning everybody here is at least 3,000 years old that's a reality few few brand new exist in the world and they're very very rare according to the so but the point being is is that no one gets hurt for any reason other than a sin that's attached to it whether it's in this life or previous life nonetheless everybody gets in essence what Hashem has connected to their name for one reason or another so sometimes a person is building themselves is fixing the past and he's doing good but all of a sudden what are you going to do he fell he fell he saw something his his mind went to left field he saw something on a on a billboard on a billboard you didn't even go you just saw something on a billboard next thing you know he's in theill he's uh he's in Cloud n all the Departments doesn't care about the he knows about all of them it's not he doesn't believe in God he believ in God 100% he give you a sh about God give you sure give you give you SE everything but that moment he saw that thing that's it his mind is in kafak she loves AEM loves her husband loves her kids everything she loves but I don't know what happened she went to the store she saw somebody from her previous life the next thing you know she finds herself in some place that she shouldn't be as a married woman oh you're a married woman four kids what are you doing and what what is this you have I don't know I don't know what I don't know how it happened I don't know how it happened I don't know how was I don't know I don't know but what do I do now I can't it's done it's done what do I do now a person can fall for a big trap without realizing it until they've already done what do you do then because runs the world with measure for measure and he's the ultimate Mercy he wants our chuba if you're still alive he wants your chuva but in order for you to LEAP from the hole that you're in it can't be a standard leap like in the past it needs to be more more than normal more than usual in the past you're able to let's say study an hour a day now now day is not enough why you want to get back to where you were right an hour day is not going to get you back to where you were not why cuz you're in a deficit now you're negative you're in a negative balance you could an hour is not going to get you there you have to do pretty much as much as possible until you collapse two three four hours yeah it's too much right okay stay in the hold it what are you want to tell you as much as you can you can't do for hour okay knows what you can do you know maybe more or less that you can do an hour cuz you've done it you don't know how much more you can do cuz you never really tried try more you give myale once a year out of one of your checks so in reality is M only one month a year not 12 months it's hard for you to give 12 months a year hard for you to give every week why because you like money and you don't have enough and you think that if you're going to give you're not going to have anything left and so on the same story that everybody else has and they already have and somebody else is going to give and all that stuff hard for you to give hard for you to give you give once a year you give during you you never really do the calculation but you more or less believe that you give enough but in reality if anybody did your spiritual accounting they would see that you in a deficit but that's only between you and hem now you want to get out of the hole you want to get out of the hole you have to give a lot more not a little more not 20% more a lot more than what you give normally why you're in a deficit if you already gotten yourself acclimated to giving $1,000 $1,000 will not do how much will do only knows but it has to hurt meaning that sometimes even if you give 2,000 not going to be enough like it depends depends on it depends on the sin it depends on on really what your capability is it depends on what asking for you I don't there's no specific number all I can tell you is it has to be a lot more a lot more sometimes wants a lot more from us to get us to where we need to be you did Chua you started wearing modest clothes you married a nice ashkanazi boy from y everything's good you kept all of his everything's good your Kos your kids are in yes so what else can you do is you made a big you made a big sin what else can you do you ate nonos one of your girlfriends you cursed you did all depends on your sin how you going to know you did enough starts hurting it's hard for you if it's easy for you it's not enough not enough not enough and that's one of the things that a person needs to test themselves I can tell you for myself one time we did a uh gave something to someone to help some people and uh I like to help people my whole life I liked helping people I think that's really the only reason to have money is to help you need it's a tool one time it was a lot more than normal and I told my R I said this is all it's about says what do you mean said I don't know I feel like I'm working working working all the money I don't I don't get to keep it I give everything away just gave all this I worked for all this for x amount of time and so g i it hurts I don't mind I it's like somebody wants to get uh you know wants to play a game you want to stay exactly where you're at you play with kids that are your age or younger you want to get better you have to play with older kids why cuz it's harder same concept in life you want to get better at work you want to get better at business you have to be surrounding yourself with people that are better than you needless to say says runs the world like a business this is one of the places that you could see it you want to get better you have to do things that are beyond the norm beyond your own norm and get yourself to higher levels with that being said there's a lot of other things that I want to say but this came out I don't want to take all the time I'm sure you guys have some questions who wants to start off with questions all of them no brief ones brief ones andot okay first you have to have a su if you are a guy you have to have a Suka you need to sleep in your Suka a woman does not need to sleep in a Suka but men have to sleep in a Suka now if it's raining or it's just completely like a nightmare to be in your Suka um because it's hot or bugs and and in essence it's causing you anguish and sadness then you're P You're un from that Mitzvah now you should not cheer if that happens if you that happens then it's not it's not a good thing because the whole goal of of Suk it's the only it's the only holiday where it says that one of the biggest obligations one of the biggest mitv to do during the entire sukot is to be happy the whole time and the AR says that anyone that is Happy from the beginning of sukot until the end of sukot it's a huge blessing that he will bring on himself or herself the whole year now it sounds easy yeah yeah I'm always a happy person yeah but to be happy during this time is not easy why because sometimes you have guests sometimes you have people that should have been guested sometimes you have you know people that you don't want them to be guests sometimes you have your own family that you hope you know kind of don't want them to be your family uh or you want them to be your family the whole time except during suot or sometimes the food you know kind of tastes like shoes sometimes the shoes look like food cuz the kids spill the food on them all types of things happen on all types of things why you're with people in a little area usually for for a week you know so all types of fun things happen during that time so it's easy to get upset and this and that I know one story where one time a guy said was trying to do Chua say I'm going to do you I'm gonna go to my brother's house oh you go to your brother's house you like your I love my brother okay after Su say no you're never going to believe it what happened I went oh you did you kept to yeah yeah I went you got to everything no what happened it didn't go so good why what happened I don't know we're there my parents were there my brothers were everything was there the food was there but then I don't know I haven't been around them for a while so I don't know I kind of I guess maybe I forgot how certain things are in my family and at one point my brother started like arguing with my mom and all of a sudden he started yelling at her started yelling at my mom and I just couldn't take it it was so annoy and so obnoxious and so rude that I took the whole table and I flipped the whole table on him said oh so didn't go that H that happens don't let that happen why you have to prepare something that certain things are going to happen obviously never yell at your mom never yell at anybody but the point being is C Satan tries extra hard to make you unhappy why because the biggest Mitzvah is to be happy B about to be happy so expect certain things to happen that are particularly annoying but don't blow up don't go don't lose your your head don't lose your cool uh especially you know some some of us are very quick-tempered it's very easy for us to get upset especially at small stupid things you have to do everything you possibly can to go swallow your lip bite your lip staple your lip do whatever you need to do smash against the wall a few times come back when you're ready don't get mad why if you're upset if you're angry if you start fighting the whole holidays in the garbage now what happens if you already did it got an argument already so what you stay angry the whole all day obviously not obviously not calm down make peace with your wife make peace with your husband make peace with whoever you got into a fight with and start all over again do over you know like in a computer press control all delete start over again same thing same thing start all over over again even if it's an hour left of the two days left of the whatever it is start all over again you have to why that's life that's life so biggest thing is to be happy second thing is also you have to build a Suka especially guys now when it comes to Suka if you're you know if if you're able to build your own Su if you're going to be hosted by somebody else that has a sukar that's also fine but that again means you need to sleep in the Suka uh number two you need to eat in the Suka anytime you eat bread anytime you eat bread you need to eat in a sukka now if uh you're not eating bread you're having a coffee you're having things that are non bread you can eat outside of a Suka but the reality is you should do everything possible to try to eat and do everything you can in the sukat that's the whole point you say wait it's not comfortable the whole point is for you to being a Suka not for you to go have you know 3 minute K Su to go back into your air conditioner that's not the point the whole point is to be in a sukka yes of course in certain places like G I mean uh Florida uh it's very very hot all year round so you have to try to make do now I can tell you personally since I moved to G I mean to Florida since I moved here I've been trying to get this air conditioner inside of Suka thing right I have yet to get it right every year I try every year it doesn't really get to it it just doesn't get to it I try and I don't know certain people tell me that they were able to succeed I I still don't know what their secret is a few uh people that told me their secrets are not allowed so that's I guess how they do it in secret if you cheat uh but uh to stay atically correct it's it's it's a lot harder it's a lot harder because you cannot put a ceiling can't put a ceiling on a Suka it has to be the you know which is something living uh or something that's from you know that's growing or whatever and uh so you can't put like a roof or or something like that so that's a problem why because even if you have nice wooden walls or PL whatever you're using as walls um the air is coming out so how do you keep it in and I tried I've had the styrofoam all over my walls and I've had this so this year I think I'm I'm not there but I think that will have better chances than previous years but it's if you're not going to make major sacrifices break your head toil and toil don't expect to enjoy Judaism not just I'm talking about if you're not going to break your head if you're not going to toil if you're not going to sweat if you're not going to exert every bit of ounce of energy Blood Sweat and Tears into the MIT do not expect to enjoy Judaism you will not enjoy Judaism in fact you will hate it because the only way to enjoy something is if you invest in it needless to say in your spirituality in Judaism itself in the Torah a lot of people say oh yeah I try to study Tor but I don't feel the sweetness of Tor where is the sweetness what do you mean TR why because you think that you're learning 10 15 minute videos here and there that's that sweetness of toan no you have to break your head you have to break your head you have to when you're tired when you're this when you're that when you're problem you have to break your head that's when you eventually get to sweetness same thing with sukot if you're not going to break your head to make your Suka the way that you always want it to be you're not going to enjoy it so that's why the uh the years that I've exerted myself the most even if it wasn't perfect it was still hot it was still this I still enjoy I still stayed in my Suka pretty much as much as I possibly could or needed to uh simply because this is this was my place and honestly it's in some sometimes I hated leaving it even though like I'm in it it's like a sauna it's 500 Degrees get I'm getting no Florida you guys know what I'm talking about uh you know so you're in it it's 500 Degrees in this thing it's it's actually colder outside of the Suka then is inside the Suka it's like maybe I should just leave this and rent it out as sauna it's unbel hard the thing is so and you have a fan and you have an air conditioner you have all these different things nothing's working it's like you're blowing back at the air conditioner maybe he's hot come on no not working so you try you try but you know what I still stayed in it sweating and everything's still white it's my baby and you have all the you know all the different things that you put on and the lights and the different things and it's yeah you put a lot into it if you put a lot into it you're going to enjoy you're going to like it you don't put a lot into it you're not going to enjoy if you put one of these little freaky things three things guess what you're not going to you're going to look forward to not being in it look forward why because you don't want it you don't want to be in it now in the beginning you don't know what you're doing first time you do it second time you do it you still don't know so in the beginning anything you do is good but as you grow into it you start doing it for longer you know see that you want to invest more into it why because in essence what it's really supposed to be it's supposed to be a replacement of your house for a week so that's really it's supposed to have everything you have in your house house everything you have in your house would literally have even a bathroom in it everything would be in it they wouldn't leave it for a week they wouldn't get go outside even they would pray in there they would learn there they would eat there go to the bathroom there everything there now under good conditions where wants our mitvah it's not going to rain at all it's not going to rain at all unfortunately this is the time during the year where normal nature normal nature like as if there's anything other than normal this is a rainy season everywhere in the world it's rainy season so we pray wants our it's not going to rain on us let it rain everywhere else there's not on us in our Suka uh and uh you know it's it's important that uh it doesn't rain at least during the first couple of nights uh when you're having K because if it rains and rain is going to go inside your Suka you can't enjoy it you can't eat in the Suka and thear says that if it rains during that uh during those uh that night um of the kou and it doesn't stop if it just rains for an hour or two and then it stops then you wait and you have the K but if it's getting to the point where it's raining raining and it's not planning it's not stopping already it's getting to the point where it's going into the next day you have to do the K inside the house and that's it and that's not a good sign if it's on the first night why it means that hm doesn't want your mitvah so you shouldn't pray sometimes you oh I can't hopefully it rains so we can eat at home it's much nicer in the house no no no don't pray for that it's a very bad s sign very bad sign um so thing is is that guys need to sleep in a Suka um now that's the second thing uh the happiness sleeping in a Suka third thing is you have to have theim you have to have theim the four minim uh I don't mean minim like you know miris uh mice fredman draso and Goldberg not for me for like you know love the uh so um cuz there's even more me than just for going do so anyway you have the now the I don't know how the situation is in other places but I know that the situation here in Florida for the AL where we are is atrocious um apparently we are like the garbage disposal of the rest of the market because the Stu that comes into the market here that I've seen for the last few years is always like second grade third grade like stuff that everybody else doesn't want uh and I've seen this already for several years that I've been here but it this way in in Florida I've seen many actually in America generally it's it's it's a lot of places and other places even complaining the same thing it to in general unless you're going to invest extra time and money to go buy a yemenite atog or anog that you know from Morocco or AOG that you know from a specific Market or something that's a unique you know for sure it's an very very high likelihood it's a lemon very high likelihood so that's a reality now if you haven't done it already by now you know it's kind of too late kind of too late so in in years past uh you know we would uh and from we have his brother gets it for us that's worked out this year two I didn't offer it to people number one because I didn't know if it was even going to be possible uh to do it this year because of everything that's going on with Corona it's very hard to do any shipments altogether right now number two you know the the amount of money that people are willing to spend on the stuff doesn't even pay for the shipping and people want to get you know top of the line and and this all for like you know 70 bu or 100 bucks maybe maybe in your dreams it cost a lot of money why cuz it does that's it people are there to make a living oh it's not fair okay so go buy lemons then we go to public go buy a lemon where you my life people think that everything is supposed to be because it's a mitvah it's supposed to be cheap everybody supposed to do for free who said who said who said that it's supposed to be uh supposed to be cheap like why why do people think like this I don't understand like in your business you feel perfectly normal charging the the person four 56 $110,000 for whatever nonsense you're selling him but you want everybody else to do everything for free why under the I don't understand that mentality but anyway I don't even offer a lot of this stuff you know because again I know people just have a warped mentality of what things are supposed to uh supposed to cost uh but also a uh you know if if a if somebody cares enough about this me well usually they make their own Arrangements they call they they maybe they get somebody to to send it them ahead of time point being is don't be disappointment if your L love is half the size of what it usually is because uh it seems like that's what the market is offering right now where the this year again 90% of the ones that I saw this year are literally half the size like you know love is supposed to be like you know nice size like a little little Bab like would you like break the one into two but this way like what happened to it not really sure even the guy that was selling the a couple places I went to the guy selling like listen I would tell you I said don't worry I already took care of it I ordered from I'm just you know this is going to be a toy I'm not going to use this H the quality of stuff is not the best you have to work on it a month in advance in order to get what you really want which means you have to put yourself a little reminder on your phone next year already start working on it a month in advance but either way either way get yourself because you don't know for sure it's a Limon so you still do whatever the Mitzvah you do uh you don't you know you don't have the best do what you can if you get better quality get better quality you can't get better quality you can't get better that you fulfill every morning women do not need to fulfill this Mitzvah uh because it's a Time bound Mitzvah some say that they're allowed anyway some say that they're not point being is it's not an obligation for women for some reason or another there are certain women that da like the MIT of the men I don't really understand that but I guess that's the Apparently uh you know she lik to put on to fill in and do a shake a love but modesty not so much very strange but anyway you know it's a the love is a is an obligation and so on and as I'm sure you could you know hear myself and countless other speakers give you 500 about why do love why they and so on and so so I'm not going to spend any time doing that now uh there the same thing the the is like your heart and you know so on different types of juice okay um aside from that you have the k k at night uh it's k y you also have to light a yov candle uh k y you have to do also K the next morning during the and there's no for guys you don't put on um it's a uh uh easy not to do a Mitzvah because a lot of us say oh yeah I can save my some time no it doesn't necessarily save you time because you have to have a long prayer But Here Comes the in my opinion the most if not the second most difficult Mitzvah of this holiday most if not second most not for me because of what I do for a living but for if I wasn't doing this for a living and I was still on Wall Street this would be a difficult Mitzvah what's the Mitzvah you're not allowed to work on you're not allowed to work on yes everybody knows you're not allow to work on the first couple days of of number one it's Shabbat number two even if it wasn't Shabbat it's everybody knows you're all to work on that thinking that you're allowed to go to work on wrong the says anyone that goes back to work and works on like they do on a regular day loses their share of the world to come it's a big deal wait so how come how come the supermarket still working how come this is still working that's still working ah then there's a different then you have an explanation what's the explanation number one if there is a job that's necessary necessary for the the needs of the holiday like food stores and so on they're needed for the they're needed for the holiday so that's a perfectly fine to work in the food store and the supermarket and things like that that's number one second if your job itself is a Mitzvah you're a uh you know teaching Torah you're doing K things like that that's a Mitzvah that's allowed all year round all year round to do K all even you're allowed to do K all the time you do K there's no such thing as not not uh not learning tah not publicizing tah so that's the second thing third thing is if if there's a threat that you will lose as a result of not working now this this is the misconception that people have people think that not making money is equals a loss that's not true not making money means not making money meaning you did not generate a profit that's not equal to a loss a loss is whatever you have goes down in value I.E now you have a job boss says if you don't show up doing you're fired you don't have a job anymore that's a loss that's a loss or you have a trade that you want to make and uh to make a profit not but if you don't sell you could potentially lose money okay that you can do that you can do why because it's a threat of a loss so the threat of a loss you're allowed to work on that but as far as the generated Prophet you now let the generated Prophet okay now if in the process of protecting for a loss you end up generating a profit that's again there's leniencies there but the point is you should not be going to work to go generate profits if your job is a lawyer doctor uh uh and things of that nature again you have to speak to your r that knows your business knows you knows what the ins and outs of certain things but you should not work during if you don't need to uh you know again unless you're in a field of Torah you're in a field of mitvah you're and so on and so forth and this is very important because people get very worried about losing parasa oh listen if I don't work for a week you know how I'm going to pay the bills don't worry about that stuff we just went to on already decided how much you're going to make it doesn't matter if you work in or not whatever you're supposed to make K decided already you decided how much how much you're going to make doesn't make a difference if you work you don't work already decided for you you're not going to lose a penny by not working when Hashem says don't work you're not going to lose a penny by doing what hasm says say Hashem already decided how much you going to make so if a person has a difficult time havinga this is the time to get it this is the time to get it oh what I'm going to tell my boss I don't know maybe he's going to get mad let him get mad let him get mad listen let him get mad yeah but maybe he's going to fire me is he for sure going to fire you no I don't know if he's for sure going to find okay so as to take off yeah but I just took off for the okay so what you have to do this this is the wants that's what he wants I know it's not easy especially in the beginning but this is what wants surely when he gave us this holiday and he told us the rules he knew that you're going to have a job he knew that you're going to have a certain boss he knew you're going to have certain annoying customers he knew all this stuff he knew he knew all this and he took it all into account and he still did it which means that he's expecting us to pass the test so if you do not need to work don't work if your work is just simply about generating a salary and uh generating a profit you are not allowed to work on not allowed to work there's a difference of shouldn't work and not allowed to work generally speaking you you shouldn't work period as far as during even if there is a threat of a loss but if there's no threat of a loss you're not allowed to work not allowed to work uh so that's really the biggest thing aside from that spend some time with the family learn some Torah try to learn as much Torah inside the Suka as you possibly can if you um uh again if you don't have a Suka of your own you have so you know make sure to eat in the Suka make sure to spend as much time as you can in the Suka uh make sure to be as uh happy as you possibly can uh spend some time with the family this is the time where Many religious people usually go to uh you know have a uh you know uh go to the parks and things like that with their family I highly doubt people are going to do much of that this year because of this uh virus uh scare that's out there but the point being is that this is really you know in a in a uh in a small little box this is in essence the the holiday this is really the holiday there's of course surely other rules there's the rules of the there's the rules of this one other thing that I'll tell you since there's still time that you could still do something about it is that I've said this before and it gets certain people angry and I don't really care uh it's just because this is what the Ala is now the popup suas that you see as the vast majority of the market popup suas are in so many words they get you these uh you know these beams metal beams right and they put this uh fabric around it and then you put this the mat on top of it the mat is a kosher mat no problem that's good but the Suk is not a Suka why because it's supposed to be according to you can see you see most there are only a few that are lenient in regards to this and they're only lenient if it follows all the rules the walls of the Suka are supposed to be like the walls of your house meaning they're not supposed to move if they're standard wind they're not supposed to move so that fabric that you have around that Suka surely it moves you go like that to it and it moves you put a little fan next to it it moves that means it's not a wall that means you don't have a Suka you don't have a Suka the you're making is it's a sin so if your whole Suka is this this this fabric around it it's not a Suka get now they're going to say to you yeah no no we're not using that wall as the uh as the wall those that fabric as the wall we're using those strings using those strings strings I've used those strings in early earlier times and I can tell you from experience they're not reliable the strings are not reliable simply because unless you continuously tighten them throughout the holiday they're going to loosen up and start moving a little bit second they move you don't have a Suka you don't have a Suka so why play with fire here you already taught to build this this this little Empire of yours why get yourself some walls go to Home Depot go to Lowe's go to I don't know to to the the wood shop or something go somewhere get yourself some pieces of wood you can either get the fences 3et tall 3 feet tall like you got your Suka your whole Suka is made of that uh those fences put it around the three walls you got a Suka it doesn't have to go all the way to the ceiling doesn't have to go all the way to the ceiling just about 3 ft from the ground from the ground 3 ft now if you want if you're handy and uh perhaps they ran out of a u they ran out of those fences because everybody hears my sh and you're going to see you know Walmart and Costco and everybody run out of fences and everything say you don't ring said fences that's it sold out okay so after everybody slds out what do you do get yourself either a uh 2x4s or something metal beam or even a uh a wire but you have to have a um three of them and has to be a separation separation between them that's a uh what is it less than two something like that I give you the exact measurements I don't remember the measur on top of my head uh between them where if there's a one one one I think it's 80 cm uh between them if the separation is below that then it's that empty space that's between them is not considered empty space considered as if it's a wall that's in essence what those strings are relying on that there is a space between them but it has to be something solid that's my my point same thing as those strings those pop-up suas have same thing same concept three strings but not strings something solid a piece of metal a 2x4 a plastic two whatever something something but not strings cuz those strings those ropes whatever they are they move they move and then your whole Suka is useless so invest a little bit of time I know it's a little bit of a headache last minute and so on but what can you do uh that's another thing another thing on the Suka is again like I said before the two I think vegetarian you're still technically uh what you're eating fish still and you're just not eating you're just not eating meat whereas V vegan you're not even eating eggs you know you're pretty much you're just you're eating off trees practically right okay God bless you uh so anyway somebody wants to eat trees somebody that wants to do that that's fine uh you're going have probably a very difficult life uh but uh you you're probably going to look healthy uh listen it's a um if you're doing it for health reasons if you're doing for health reasons meaning you have a specific allergy
