K'hal Mevakshei Hashem
129 views
You have probably never seen a parking sign like this. At Khal Mevakshei Hashem, the reserved spot is not for the rabbi or president. It is reserved for a “big tzaddik.” That message captures the entire shul. When the room becomes noisy, Rav Yossi Zakutinsky does not simply shush everyone. He shares a Torah that reminds them who they are and draws them back into davening. Growth here is not measured by how spiritual someone looks. It is measured by greater humility, deeper love for another Yid, and the courage to become who you are capable of becoming.

You have never seen a parking sign like
this in your life, [music] and somehow
it sits in a parking lot here in the
Five Towns. Reserved for a big tzaddik.
>> We're continuing our journey to station
ourselves in front of [music] every
single shul in the world. Today, we're
at Khal Adas Yeshurun KMH here in the
Five Towns. Let's [music] go check it
out. No reserved parking for a rav, no
reserved parking for a president,
>> [music]
>> just for a big tzaddik, because that's
not a title reserved for somebody else.
That's a title for every single Yid.
[music] But what does that actually look
like? Let's go inside. If you're a guest
here on Shabbos, you might notice
something [music] interesting. There is
no shushik. And if it does get a little
too loud, the rav just might get up and
share a Torah to get the shul locked in
for davening. It might be something
like, "The greatest thing we could do
for ourselves and for Klal Yisrael
[music] is to focus on our davening."
Funny enough, one of the members'
children actually began calling them
shush Torahs and started writing them
down after Shabbos. Rav Yisroel does not
focus on telling a [music] Yid what he's
doing wrong. He focuses on reminding a
Yid who he is and what he's capable of.
And the measure of growth here is not
how spiritual you look. Are you becoming
humble? Do you love Yidden more? Those
are metrics of success. No Yid is
complete [music] without another Yid.
And that's an idea that Rav Yisroel
Zegatinsky connects all the way back to
the Baal Shem Tov.
Pnimius HaTorah, the Baal Shem Tov, is
the cornerstone of this shul. And it's
not just for adults, it's for kids, too.
[music] They come to the fabrengens,
they know the niggunim, they know the
names of the tzaddikim. One member even
told us that he loved the shul so much
that he moved his entire family here to
Lawrence [music] to be a part of the
shul. The rav here takes lofty Pnimius
HaTorah concepts and [music] brings it
down to the community so that they not
only can understand it, but connect to
it and live with those ideas. But this
place, in this unassuming building, is
bringing so much light to the world. If
you're here in Lawrence on Shabbos, be
sure to check it out. It's incredible.
