The words are based on the tefillah of Hareini Mekasher (הריני מקשר) attributed to Reb Nosson zy"a, following the guidance of Rebbe Nachman zy"a in Sichos HaRan 296. The original tefillah goes like this: הריני מקשר עצמי לכל הצדיקים האמיתיים שבדורנו, ולכל הצדיקים האמיתיים שוכני עפר, קדושים אשר בארץ המה, ובפרט לרבנו הקדוש, נחל נובע מקור חכמה, רבנו נחמן בן פיגא, זכותם יגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל, אמן. "During prayer, one must bind oneself to the Tzaddikim of the generation, as brought in Lesson 2 and Lesson 9 of Likutey Moharan (Part I) and in other places. Therefore, he instructed his followers to recite before prayer: 'Hareini mekasher atzmi l'khol haTzaddikim sheb'doreinu' (Behold, I bind myself to all the Tzaddikim of our generation)."
