Tent City Weeks Away from Ending

all right so looks like we've got the township uh in Tent City again today tearing down uh homes where people slept last night uh no option no shelter in Ocean County yet uh no place for these people to go again bulldozing before building uh which again I doesn't seem to be ethical or moral uh on my viewpoint so again I don't believe uh we're approaching this thing from the right angle um it's a wealthy uh country uh we've got a lot L of land uh we can definitely build micro housing for everybody in this country every American um they can you know this way they can work at a minimum wage job and still afford to uh support their housing and so yeah I just I believe the township and I believe uh the powers of be are going at this thing backwards uh removing people from their housing before creating new uh new housing in Ocean County uh for them and it's just wrong some people are are getting a years worth of housing from the township according to the consent order um that was uh signed last April a year ago and still there's probably about 20 people in Tent City close to that that don't have uh housing yet even after a year of uh of uh you know year that they've lived in ten City and you some of those people have died out here in ten City without receiving their years's worth of housing uh so um you know but it's a Year's worth of housing a Year's worth of housing is only a Year's worth of housing it's better than you know having nothing but it's not as good as having a permanent place to live you know it's a very unstable uh and stable future you know and that's you know this is people's lives fear in trepidation people are uneasy you know they're not sure of what the future holds you and again you know we're we're better than that as a society I would hope you know it's not about money you know it's not about uh you know it's not about people building their Empires it's about people you know having people having dignity and self-respect and uh you know this is what this is what you know all the the scriptures are about all all the law and the prophets are are wrapped up in these love your you know neighbor as yourself and love the Lord thy God with all thy heart soul mind and strength this is the the whole end of the matter and so again you know it's about people thank you today you asked me what we're doing out here today today we're out here um taking down some of the tents that we should have took down before that that were marked with the x1's but what it was that some of the people that were in those tents um you know had nowhere to go so we gave them an opportunity and gave them a chance today we're in here taking down a lot of the tents that are on the senses that we've already put housing for people um we have put in approximately about um I think it's 49 people with another 11 scheduled to go in um by the end of this week and early next week so we're not actually you know I mean I know there's a lot of different rumors out here that we're you know um tearing down tents that that people live in with census number that's not true that's not true at all now after today about how many uh residents here are you going to have left well it depends on who you're talking about are you talking about all the residents or you're talking about from from the Census from from the Census it's not that many you know um you know you're lucky if we have you know um 11 12 I'm not for sure on the count but it's it's not that many um the you know our goal is that you know we spent a lot of time um you know down in here on this project and we feel that you know we're we're to an end now but the the issue is coming to the end is you know what what do you do so our plan is that we're negotiating now um to put everybody up it's a lot easier to put everybody all up and work from you know um motel or wherever we may put the individuals at [Music] go
