The Navy SEALs are widely recognized as
one of the most formidable military
groups in the world. I think they're the
ones who just went into Venezuela and
did that crazy
mission over there. But anyways, their
reputation is built on their ability to
undertake missions in the most dangerous
environments and to handle these
operations that demand exceptional skill
and courage. We all know this. We've all
read about them or you heard about them.
Now, becoming a Navy SEAL is not easy.
It requires undergoing some of the most
intense training and all all these
things that they have in existence. It's
brutal. And the point of the training,
obviously, is that every mem- every
member of the Navy SEALs or the Delta
Force, whatever it is, they're ready to
face extreme challenges and operate
effectively under pressure. A lot of
times people can't work under pressure.
I can't do that.
They're good. Like they're they're calm.
They work it out. When a mission has to
be completed deep within enemy enemy
enemy territory, the Navy SEALs are the
ones who are entrusted with the task.
And what makes them so strong? What
makes them so powerful? Why are they so
Why everybody fears them? What's the
So, there are many things that
contribute to their power. Obviously,
they have weapons.
They [snorts] have cutting-edge
technology. There's no question about
that. They have a tremendous amount of
funding.
They're also trained very very well. But
there's there's one aspect that stands
out and sets them apart and that is that
they're trained
to never be surprised.
Never to be surprised. When you're
surprised, it's like, "Ah, I wasn't
ready for it. I didn't know he was
there. I didn't know Why why why why I I
don't know." What happens when this
happens? There's no surprises. They
undergo types of training that are
designed to eliminate the possibility of
being caught off guard.
It's almost like the concept of surprise
doesn't exist to them, which makes them
much more effective, obviously, and much
more powerful. It's an awesome strategy.
An awesome strategy. A lot of times when
we fall,
you know what? I'll I'll give you
another muscle besides the Navy SEALs.
It's the exact same thing as this. Harry
Houdini. I don't know if you've ever
heard of him. Harry Houdini was a very
very famous escape artist. You could
read up on him. You could learn about
him. Anyways, one of the the skills that
he had, I don't know exactly how he did
this, but he had his stomach muscle
made a certain way or you know he knew
how to brace himself, something that
anyone could punch him
in the stomach and
by all of his shows he used to have like
during the show if anybody wanted to
punch him
you could do it, no problem, nothing's
going to happen. It was like hitting
literally a brick wall.
Anyways, [snorts] the story is told that
how how did he die? He died from a
ruptured something after being punched
in the stomach. And the question is how
is that possible?
Isn't this the guy who you were able to
punch? I think it's a famous story. I'm
sure you know what I'm talking about.
And the answer is
that when the guy came over to him and
said I heard you it's true that anybody
could punch you, is that true?
He said, "Sure."
And then he punched him like four or
five times in a row.
I think it was the appendix that
ruptured. I think so.
And um and he died a few days later. And
what was the shot? I thought he was so
strong. And the answer is of course he
was strong, but he wasn't ready for it.
It was a surprise. He wasn't braced for
it. When you're braced for it you you
know you do that whole thing. So okay,
so now let's go. Come on, bring it on.
But when I'm not braced for when I'm
surprised, I'm not ready for it, so then
I can't do the same thing.
The Navy Seals [snorts] that's like this
by Harry Houdini, that was the story.
And so many times in life if you're not
ready for it, it's a surprise, that's
when accidents happen.
The yetzer hara understands this and the
reason why shmiras einayim and all the
inyanim of shalom are so difficult is
because very often it comes by surprise.
You're not ready for it. You're driving,
you're walking, [snorts] you're at your
house, you're on your computer, you're
minding your own business.
And all of a sudden something came up.
I wasn't ready for it. All of a sudden
there's a huge nisayon right in front of
you.
Many times this is how the temptations
are, they come when we're not braced for
it. We're blindsided and therefore when
you're not ready we stumble.
Cuz I'm not if I'm not prepared for it
it's a shkiah, what do you expect from
me?
So how do you get in control? How do you
do this? How do you rise above?
The answer is never be surprised.
If you're always prepared
then it's so much easier to fight cuz
there is no surprises.
I would say this is a Navy Seal without
training.
Once you carry this with you, and I'm
telling you from experience cuz I do it.
I have this in my car or wherever I go,
usually.
Once you have it with you, you're always
on guard. You're automatically like a
soldier with a gun. You're ready to go.
Doesn't mean you're looking for it. It
just means that you're protected from
it.
>> [snorts]
>> And it works. There's no such thing as
being surprised because you're
constantly aware of where you are.
You're on Earth. You're in a battle from
all sides, always. And it happens to be
that one of the tremendousness stainless
of today's generation is this type of
thing. Everything's accessible.
Everything's open. There's no rules
anymore.
It reminds us of who we are and what we
stand for.
And when you click it, it just gives all
of that strength.
And it's something that's unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
