Take a Stand Against Antisemitism!

[Music] so we have uh y let me see if he is yes he's on let's get the rabbi on he is uh one of the most uh inspirational rabbis in this generation Jacob this is thank you the honor is mine it means a lot to both me and Victoria me and Victor working together for many many years doing uh we started by doing changing the the the vision of the D entertainment world to make it more appealing to the new generation right it yes so we've learned how to do it right and we try to bring good into entertainment and and in the high class we do it for many many years but we never thought that we're going to Pivot to something totally else I never thought I'm gonna be landing in JFK today with my tittis out and my keeper out together with a Qatar uh uh flight from Abu Dhabi and Phil intimidated and feel I felt a lot of Jewish bride at would with a lot of UHA because that's me but I believe that a lot of people will be feared to do that uh I don't know if I'm smart to do that or not I just my Israeli side of me is so burning that I just landed today in JFK and everything was Arab and speaking in Arab uh I didn't felt any hostile by way I didn't got any uh boycotts any names any nothing I thought comfortable uh the reason why I'm saying that I do [Music] believe that the group of people the percentage of group of people that spreading anti-Semitism and spreading the hate towards Israel without knowing what's going on is a small group of people compared to the entire Arab world out there and I know that Arabs themselves suffering by living in Arab countries from those extremist so they do have something in common with us and this is subject that I want to touch today together with Rudy that we're going to bring him on and I'm so honored that you are with us Rabbi Victoria thank you for making me part of this andab jobson please take it over from here thank you Victoria and thank you for giving me this privilege and opportunity to be here with so many of you at such a faithful moment in history and I think at such moments you know to paraphrase Thomas pay these are times that try men's souls and women's Souls These are times that try people's Souls These are times that bring out either the best in people or the worst in people these are times when we either rise and become the most extraordinary leaders examples ambassadors of Truth love authenticity wisdom light or it's times that we duck and we surrender to the spear or cynicism or fear or toxicity so this is really a time for unprecedented empowerment of all of the positive forces in the Jewish people and in all of humanity I think one of the reasons that we have survived for 4,000 years despite incessant anti-Semitism and persecution is because Jews always knew how to turn a crisis into an opportunity every crisis becomes an opportunity from Israel so you'll appreciate the fact that in Hebrew the same word for a breakdown mbar m is the same word for giving birth a woman on a birthing stool is called because in Judaism we saw every crisis as a Catalyst as an opportunity for rejuvenation for Renewal we are now facing a crisis once again anti-Semitism has reared its ugly head in extraordinary painful and horrific ways the tiny small state of Israel the size of New Jersey for God's sake experienced 4,000 rockets in 10 days and remember if not for the Iron Dome Israel would have been reduced to Rubble and thousands and thousands and thousands of Jewish children women and men and Arab children women and men would have been slain thank God for the miracle of the technology of the Iron Dome just let's put that in perspective and then the anti-Semitism and the ignorance from around the world this is really a very profound wakeup call and I would just like to articulate two very brief messages one is for Jews for us and one is for us and the whole world first I want to speak to my sisters and brothers the Jewish people my dear beloved siblings brothers and sisters from the whole world because we're all one family and that is make no mistake anti-Semitism has nothing to do with Israel's reaction to Gaza with Israel's action here with Israel's actions there there' have been close to a million deaths in Syria there have been millions and millions of murders in different countries around the world nobody utters unfortunately a sound don't make the mistake that this has something to do with Israel doing this or doing that we are dealing here with something that is going on for 4,000 years nonstop and it has to do with one truth and one truth only and it's uncomfortable and that is that Jews have a unique role in history the tragedy of the Jewish people is We Are Forever Outsiders and appeasement never helped in Europe before the Holocaust Jews assimilated like never before French Jews I was just reading a new book French Jews some of them gave the most money to the French government they served in the French army they were greater Patriarchs Patriots than the French themselves came the Holocaust and their children and grandchildren was sent to the gas Chambers the same is true with Germany and Vienna and so much of Europe appeasement and hiding who we are and assimilating and making believe this is just because Israel is strong and Israel has a strong military and if Israel would compromise and if we would just be nicer everybody would love us this is one of the greatest myths of History Jews are forever Outsiders and the reason is it's not our weakness it's our strength because from the day we stood at Sinai we were given a Divine mission to change the world the Jewish people whether we like it or not we are the conscience of the world and people hate their alarm clocks I still haven't met anybody who likes their alarm clock the fact is that Jewish Jews are the alarm clock in the conscience of history Hitler said it Hitler said I hate the Jews because they have given us and invented the conscience in every gener ation as much as we try to hide to assimilate to make believe we have nothing unique to contribute we just like to eat sushi Chinese food play golf and make a couple of dollars the world reminds us and says no you Jews you Jews you Jews let's not forget our uniqueness is our strength this is a time for an unprecedented Jewish Renaissance we need a Jewish Renaissance in America we need a Jewish Ren in Israel we need a Jewish Renaissance everywhere in the world the talmud says Jews are like oil you ever tried to put in beverages into a cup put in grape juice and orange juice and apple juice and mango juice and celery juice and Coca-Cola and Pepsi and seltzer and water and it all mix into one big mixture and then put a little oil what happens to the oil the oil never mixes the oil is always segregated the oil always segregated that's the story of the Jewish people as much as we try to say we're like you as much as Israel tries to say we're like you we are segregated they say no you're different and you know what the lesson for us is we are different we are the ambassadors of God to change the world be proud of your uniqueness be a moral voice to mankind the world respect Jews who respect themselves the world respects Jews who respect Judaism the world respects Jews who respect Torah tradition Our Heritage our faith our homeland the world is embarrassed by Jews who are embarrassed by themselves who are embarrassed by Israel who are embarrassed by Judaism at such a time of anti-Semitism it's a reminder that we are supposed to be leaders in the moral conversation of mankind to elevate the world and fill it with goodness and kindness and Holiness I say to all my brothers and sisters don't duck be more Jewish become part of a major unprecedented Jewish Renaissance we need to be stronger than ever more Jewish than ever bring in Judaism to your life bring in Judaism to your children's life do more mitzvas learn more Torah become more Jewish fill your life with jewishness that's what the world wants from us that is our Eternal role and every generation we're reminded again and again and again that our role in history has not been DED our role in history is not over this is crazy Victoria think about this we don't make up a quarter of 1% of humanity this 2.8 billion Catholics 1.8 billion Muslims 14 million Jews we are smaller than a statistical error on a Chinese census 1.2 billion Chinese as I'm talking another million were born we in a a Israel is like a m match on a football field and yet all the cameras zoom into the match and it's been like this for thousands of years why why we are a tiny insignificant valueless people the answer is because at Sinai we were given a mission to change the world we were given a mission to fill the world with truth with morality with ethics by us being more Jewish be as Jewish as you can be we will change the world in a positive sense but I think there's one more message today for all people and that is anti-Semitism is not only a Jewish Problem Like You just said it's a problem of humanity a world that has no place for Jews has no place for Humanity and every Tyrant and dictator in the world who persecuted Jews began with Jews but it never ended with Jews Hitler Stalin Bin Laden every every dictator the suicide bombers take Hamas it's not just Israel they persecute it's their own people do you remember in 2007 when they were throwing off their own people from the roofs in order to win the elections in Gaza throwing off Pak from the roof the abuse of Human Rights if you disagree with Hamas they kill you they murder you the cruelty is not just to Jews for sure Jews cruelty is to their own people anti-Semitism is not a Jewish problem and I say to the whole world if you we don't stand up together against anti-Semitism all good people will suffer because we are the miners canaries of the world this is a time especially Jews have influence Jews have had success we are integrated in so many financial and political structures and yet so many Jews are embarrassed we duck in fear use your influence stand up to hate stand up to bigotry stand up to the lies be an ambassador of truth thank you amazing Rabbi I moved wow every word Rabbi can I add something beautiful that I've heard they say that exiled we God exiled the Jews and what's the purpose on that why we couldn't live all of us next to Israel till mashia will come why it's all of scattered the world so the gamar said that by us being scattered we're going to be a light to the go and we're going to bring converts back to the nation those Souls that did say that they want to keep the Torah but because the overall is the votes of the overall nation that didn't took it those Souls that did want back then actually was part of it and we need to collect them back and and I feel that being being a Jew and represent the Jewish Nation the right way and to represent Israel me as an Israeli just I I can tell you something personal that hurts me a lot every year on y I have my Israeli proud pride and I and I I I I'm looking who's doing any any event who's doing any something something something nothing every year I'm surprised I'm four years in America I don't feel any excitement zero excitement now hasem does all of this kind of stuff in order for us to have an excitement for the land of Israel for being Jewish for understanding people start becoming oh let me keep Shabbat maybe we'll do something we don't need to wait till that happens but unfortunately we are a people like that and this week para we see how we would Moses that we we don't want to eat anymore that we want meat we this is a time for Jews to strengthen their Judaism I think we need a Renaissance of the Jewish people really you know like Yos the king made a new movement and the Jewish people re-embrace their historic role and this is what we need today every Jew no matter if you call yourself reformed conservative Orthodox Ultra Orthodox right-wing left-wing liberal Progressive you voted for Biden you voted for Trump you voted for neither you voted for everybody you hate everybody you love everybody you hate one I think all the Jewish people have to realize there are historic moments now and history is calling on us to open our eyes and see that the world is focusing all the cameras on us they want to hear something from us yes I know it's disturbing it's negative and Jews have to be careful and we have to fight anti-Semitism every way we can but we cannot change the anti-semites because we're not guilty the anti-semites have to change the anti-semites don't blame yourself for anti-Semitism it's one of the worst Jewish problems we have the self-hating the self-loathing that's not the issue we need to become a light onto ourselves a light onto our families and a light onto our Nations and I think practically what that means is if every single Jew listening to this will reignite their Jewish life and start adding more Judaism into your life wrapped fill in every morning if you're a male light Shabbat candles every Friday afternoon if you're a female give charity every day learn Torah every day say shma is and pray every day bring goodness and light become an ambassador of Truth give your children a Jewish Education give your grandchildren a Jewish Education make them feel proud of what it means to be a Jew let them understand what Judaism is what Israel is who we are where we come from what our R is and the world is waiting for our voice every Jew must use their influence to speak truth and turn this world into the place it's supposed to be a garden not a jungle beautiful he said I have to add Rudy so let me add Rudy he is a little bit late sorry Rudy we are I'm hoping that we didn't lose him um first of all thank you so much for it's 3:00 in the morning in Israel and Rudy woke up just for this live and Rudy is an Israeli and Jewish rights activist he has been the Forefront into fighting his anti-Semitism and all these lies that has been spread all over social media your videos got millions of views everybody was so curious during this whole fight between Israel and pales for more they were so thirsty for education and Rudy was the page that enlightened so many people on the complect so Rudy thank you for joining us today thank you for having how are youy so happy to see you I I I have I have one question for you first of all I would love to to learn from you how come you managed to make everyone send you the original videos that was amazing and I'm so happy in one week unfortunately though you reached to extra 12 or 13,000 people following you just because you have the original videos uh um you're a social media Guru before even before I know you for for a long time and I know what you do and I and finally I think in God's hand he made you representing us in a higher scale how do you feel about it and how is it really dayto day in the last two weeks makes you manage your day how do you manage such a big operation and and and what is your main message because I see from you both sides I want to learn how do you combine that and and what's what is your driven I mean it's been insane the past two three weeks first of all I live in Israel I live in Jerusalem my family in Aviv so obviously we've been in a state of War uh where there have been deaths on both sides Israelis and Palestinians and every single death is a tragedy because we're all human beings we're all a part of one we're all a part of this universe what is one which is Hashem um and Palestinians at the end of the they are our cousins and my family has to go through bomb shelters I had to go with them as well uh so it's been a very tough situation it's sad that in these times is when people tend to care tend to want to listen uh my social media reach on Instagram went from uh 34,000 to I think right now 88 or 89,000 weeks which is crazy uh it's sad that it had to take this situation for people to wake up but unfortunately in the history of the Jewish people usually there is some sort of moment or action that takes people to wake up and go back on the and to realize who they are um you ask me what's the purpose of all this for me one of my favorite quotes is that the true leader doesn't create more followers but more leaders I'm not the answer to the problems I don't think any of us as individuals are answers we're definitely not a part of the problem but our goal is to spread light to others for all of us to be able to take responsibility of our role and I was listening to what the rabbi was saying and I agree I would put it maybe a little bit differently I think that we're all a part of a body let's say that the Universe the world is a body each nation is an organ or a system or can choose to be two organs or half of one whatever they choose and we we chose as the Jewish people on alai to be the immune system we chose that it's our responsibility to do T to fix and Heal the World and to empower other nations to be to empower the other organs for them to fulfill their own potential and their own greatness which is different than us and great in itself not even in comparison and so if the Jewish people the immune system does not fulfill its responsibility then it's obvious that there will be a subconscious reaction of the other organs that blame us for the diseases in the body not because we created it but because we have the responsibility to change it and to fulfill it so it absolutely does come back to us that we need to take a responsibility uh on this role that we have in this world and also the role that we have in this land we talk about T and well let's first let beautiful I have to ask you because we do have a lot of followers who are not so familiar exactly what happened I have a lot of people asking me questions uh why exactly the war broke out in Israel who is to blame and are the Jews really responsible for ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians so Ry you're the best person to ask this so there there's a lot to unpack here first of all this conflict has been going on for many many years I would say it even originated where the British Empire did what they did best the same thing that they did in Pakistan and India and in the ethnic groups in Nigeria and in Afghanistan they divided and Conquer they taught the Palestinian Arabs said that the Jews were an extension of the West uh and made them see the Jews as the enemy the zionists the Jews the Israelis and they taught the Jews uh and the Israelis and the Zionist that the Palestinians were extension of the pen Arab uh world that was trying to swallow them up so we experienced each other as the enemies to each other's stories and unfortunately rather than building a society uh that when we experienc this civilization it would be a Jewish State a Jewish country and when they would experience the civilization would be a civilization for them we ended up fighting fighting into war now fast forward after several Wars and the consequence of those Wars living in a situation in a status quo that is unjust for all you have certain individuals that definitely profited from this current flare conflict war Clash whatever one wants to call it first of all there is the issue of which is also considered shimik for the Jewish people there's been Jews living there for many many years in fact there were Jewish quarters there because there's a famous burial site for the Jewish people of a very righteous man named shim which is Shimon the righteous now in 1948 when the Jordanian Army conquered the entirety of the West Bank judan Sam including Jerusalem they ethnically cleansed every single Jew from the area including the Jews in Shimon sadik also known as J now in 1967 which is almost 20 years later Israel liberated judan Samra in a defense of war and also reunified Jerusalem now the families that were having the Deeds of their homes in sadik went to the courts and said listen these homes were stolen by the Jordanian Army and we want to have access to our homes back the courts took from 1967 till 1982 with due process and appeals to eventually agree that these homes were actually owned by Jews and they were stolen by the Jordanian Army however the Jordanian families that own those homes were making rent they owned them as assets and were renting them to Palestinians now the courts ruled that the Palestinian residency would be respected protected as long as the same rents that they were paying to the Jordanian families would now be paid to the Jewish families that were the rightful owners those Palestinian families refuse to pay rent and we've been almost four decades since that moment 39 years and there have been many attempts to let them know that if they don't pay the rent they would be evicted and there were appeals in courts and eventually the courts decided you're not paying the rent to a property that at no point you owned that is owned by the Jewish family so you will be evicted now an important part of information that a lot of people don't know is that the lawyers of these families and by the way we're talking about eight homes we're not talking about thousands of places hundreds we're talking about eight homes the lawyers of these families were appointed by The palestini Authority these families were offered by the courts and in potential settlements in courts subsidies maybe they would get money maybe they would get uh the ability to live somewhere else and those lawyers that were by the Palestinian Authority said we don't want to take anything we're not going to accept anything why because they wanted to wait for this moment for them to get nothing and to use their people's suffering in order to exploit that suffering and then to create a movement which why was that movement created right now because in the past two weeks we were supposed to have the first election in 16 years for the pales authority and now nobody is talking about it because everyone started talking about something else which is the displacement of Palestinians which is not the displacement of Palestines it's the removal of eight families eight homes that did not pay the rent after that what happened is during uh Ramadan there were Muslims Palestinians that were praying in ALA which lets be real this is also the most important place for the Jewish people and we are not even able to access this location which is a whole other topic and then obviously you had individual writers that were attacking Jews and attacking the police and obviously the police is going to react to such attacks and they dispersed the violent crowds now they did so especially and purposefully during the time of prayers in order to en Knack a reaction of the world like look at what the Jewish people or the army of the Jewish people or the state of Israel is doing during the time of al-a and using Al AA or the Temple Mount as a pressure point has been something that has been used for years we saw it with the massacre said that the Jews were trying to take ALA which resulted and Jews being killed in Kon and then ethnically cleansed from Kon so we need to be very careful every time someone talks about the Temple Mount or Al AA because they're probably using it in order to Galvanize a reaction an emotional reaction which eventually leads to a physical rapure then on which I live in Jerusalem there were everyone was dancing in Jerusalem and the finale we all know is dancing at the cotel there was a band there were hundreds of thousands of people we have individual Palestinians that from Ala itself started shooting fireworks down not one by accident but a series of fireworks at a tree to light it on fire and to then have an image of Jews that were already dancing and a tree on fire and then you have one thing after the other after the other and Kamas gets involved and we look now that you know people have been killed on both sides neither the Palestinian population nor the Israeli population are the victors here we both have suffered from the situation so who really won well we look at Kamas getting involved with the situation and them being the uh go-to political party today that the Palestinians now relate to because they were the ones that were the strongest in fighting against the the Israeli state but let's be real we all knew that those Rockets would never do anything uh to Israel of course it would cause death it would cause pain but Israel would not go anywhere so the goal of Kamas was not to actually destroy Israel or to really do anything that Israel would leave but more so to create conflict in order to get people to die on both sides but mainly on the Palestinian side to use that as political Ammunition To Go ensure to the world that Israel is the worst thing in in the world and so the people that are profiting from this are politicians are Medias our foreign governments that want this to destabilize the region our weapon companies that sell weapons to to peoples on both sides and those are the people profiting from this that we need to understand now you brought up terms like ethnic cleansing I'm sure other people have heard terms like colonization and apart time and genocide and all these different terms we have to understand that there's a fundamental difference between the anti-Semitism on the far right and the anti-Semitism on the far left the anti-Semitism on the far right will find the source of suffering and pain of a society and community and blame it on the Jewish people whether that be uh the disease or the economic sit situation or Wars they'll find what the society is currently dealing with and blame that on the Jews the anti-Semitism on the far left is a little bit different this anti-Semitism in the farle when it comes to Western countries will look within to their history and they will realize that they feel guilt for a lot of things that were done such as racism apartheid genocide colonization all sorts of things and rather than deal with their trauma and their guilt themselves they will place that guilt and place that trauma onto the Jewish people and associatees all these terms and all these ideas that they are against and they will place those terms onto the Jewish people the Jewish people are not ethnically cleansing there are eight homes that are being evicted because they're not paying the rent if there were Palestinians that were living in these homes or that were owning these homes and that were renting these homes to Jews that weren't paying the rent the same thing would have happened to them and in fact in Israeli courts there was a village built called amona in Jud in Sam that in 2017 was removed because some of the homes were built on Palestinian own own lands so the law applies across the board and in terms of colonization I mean the definition of colonization is a foreign people coming and taking a land that doesn't belong to them and exploiting those resources to a motherland the Jewish motherland is Judea is Israel the the the act of coming back to our land kicking out the British Reviving our civilization is not colonization it's decolonization it's the first time in history where Native people were actually able to have the most successful indigenous Liberation movement that ever existed revived their ancient language for the first time revived their civilization and were able to decolonize their land but of course instead of understanding our story as a story that could Empower and Enlighten other people they take it and they associate us to the things that they feel deeply ashamed of and that's the anti-Semitism on the far left that is very very relevant today and that many people aren't used to because we're used to mostly hearing or being subjugated to the anti-Semitism on the far right but they're similar but different and we need to understand them beautiful beautiful explanation I think a lot of people got a lot of understanding the reason why I asked that is because those type exactly those type of words and misinformation is what spread anti-Semitism like wildfire people were attacked it's it's insane what's going on it's scary and I feel like you and your videos especially the one you made of Trevor Noah uh calling out his narrow image of the conflict um which went viral I think it educated a lot of people do you feel like celebrities that were sharing misinformation spreading lies are actually hidden anti-semites or they're just simply misinformed I think it could be a mix of both first of all uh the reason why I have a lot of success is not only myself I have an amazing team with me individuals who make content make video um so it's not just one individual but in terms of the celebrities there are many ways of being anti-semitic right there are many ways of being racist one can believe that all Jews should be killed like Hitler one could believe that Jews shouldn't be able to live in the land one should could believe that Jews should have different rights one could believe that Jews can live but they I don't want to be with them and I still have negative opinions there are many ways of being anti-semitic and one of those ways is to want the disempowerment of the Jewish people let's try to put it into context if one was against the right for the Tibetans to return to Tibet and to revive their civilization that would be a form of being anti- the Tibetan people if one were against the rights of the Native Americans to Standing Rock that would be a form of being against the Native American people if one were against the culture and the empowerment of the maoris or the aboriginals or the aidis or civil rights for people of color in America that would be a form of being anti- those people there is a form of being anti- the Jewish people today and that's called anti- Zionism Zionism is the right for the Jewish people to self-determine on their ancestral land if you are for all native peoples to self-determine on their ancestral land but then hold a double standard to the Jewish people whereas when the Jews want to do it then it becomes a problem that shows what anti-Semitism is and so I think a lot of these individuals maybe their intention is not to necessarily hate on the Jews but they definitely have ideas that are anti-semitic now it could stem from a place of deep misinformation which is why it's so vital and important for us to narrate our own story you know I've been in the spaces on intellectual spaces and on campuses political spaces uh for over a decade now uh talking about the story of Israel to narrate our story empowering the Next Generation and I can tell you that when you look at uh let's say a college campus for example if there was a student that would say something racist or sexist I can guarantee you that most black students and most women are conditioned and prepared to stand up against that very act and most of the society is also conditioned and prepared to stand up with that group being attacked and to condemn it and to call it out and at the very least to recognize it in the first place but today when someone says something against the Jewish people and that's Israel most Jews stay silent most Jews do not know how to respond and even if they know what to say they don't have the courage because they were not taught the courage to stand up in fact most parents usually tell their their their children ah just let them say what they have to say get the good grade eventually you'll get the good job and you'll make money and you'll donate back to an organization and that's not the right formula for the Jewish people we have to take the responsibility over our hands because if we ourselves don't stand up for ourselves we can't expect other people to stand up for us can I add one more one more thing that's very important for this conversation I think in America in general for living here for the last four years and see the the Jewish educ Education there is something that it's lack and it lacks of History a lot of history that you just said so many Jews I would say more so religious Jews don't know a clue about the history in Israel they don't know how to fight back not even fback they don't know how to explain what you just said and that's the basics of of uh yeah we're learning to I appreciate to everybody appreciate to but we need to understand that when in time I think you will agree with me that the history of Israel and the history of of of uh and how everything been created there and nobody knows anything only real Israelis know but oh also there is a lot of lefties controlling the the education in Israel if you go to a nonreligious school and if you go to more you you get a lot of love to Israel and understand because they really put the thees the they stopped there and they give education about what it is well and and why and all that not talking about the extremists in each side I'm talking about the majority here in the state the school system is a problem the fact that the Jew doesn't know how to answer when he he thinks oh my God maybe we conquered maybe we con what do you mean maybe we conquered what did you conquer so the one that did doesn't know anything they just know the toah G gave us Israel is that enough I'm asking is that enough Rabbi I think you're 100% right I don't know if you know but you know one of the the greatest biblical commentator in Jewish history is a man named Rashi he lived in the 11th century in France and he opens up his commentary on the Bible the first verse of the Bible Genesis 1:1 in the beginning God created heaven and earth and Rashi says I don't understand the Torah is a book of laws why doesn't the Torah begin with the mitv with the laws which is only in the book of Exodus why tell me this whole story about creation it's not a Jewish thing the world is everybody's world as R said and you know what he says and he wrote this during the First Crusade approximately 1096 he was living in France and Germany this is what he writes he says because God knew that the nations of the world are going to come to the Jewish people and they're going to say list at you're a bunch of Thieves you're a bunch of thugs you're you're you're robbers you have deprived the people from their land you have conquered their land and you are occupiers your foreign occupiers get out and therefore and Jews are not going to know what to say they're going to say oi Baler United Nations Truman Churchill they're going to give all these types of explanations and they're going to say no just because Hitler exterminated millions of Jews that's why you're allowed to make us homeless and that's why you're allowed to steal our land and our Eternal gift and it's not good for the Arabs you know if you're living on Stolen land if you steal land and you live there it's not good for you it's not healthy for you it's not healthy for you it's not healthy for the Arab world to to to to take away and steal the land from the Jewish people it's not good for them if you care about the Arabs you have to care about their future just as you in the diaspora and also in Israel we're taught to be Jews in practice uh it's sorry in theory but not in practice we were taught to study T and to do and to light the candles which is very important it's the sole element but a lot of times they forget the body and for something to work you need the soul and the body the body without the soul is uh empty vessel and the Soul uh without the body is something that's wandering without actual ability to enact something and so we need to teach Jews not only how to keep Shabbat and in and light the candles and do the S which is very very important and crucial to the Jewish people we need also the Jewish people to know how to be Jews in practice how to debate how to do public speaking how to understand counter narratives how to create coalitions how not to wait for the king and queen or the emperor the presidents of societies to stand up for us for us to be able to change a civilization and pop culture for them to recognize who we are and to make sure we take our own future into our own hands this is something that many Jews in the diaspora were not taught and I know that there are many leaders that have tried to push this down but the majority of Jewish Education teaches Jews to be je in theory and not in practice and this must change and of course we know that we're not going to disappear anywhere and we know that if we don't do anything that things will get worse however we can make the change now and start educating people differently and make sure that the next generation is a lot stronger and a lot more equipped than our generation question for you Rudy so since you're an expert in social media and because social media became of its own War you know there's war real war that's going on and then there's a whole social media War to defend ourselves so what do you think are the tools that people can the listeners here can use and what can they do to fight this social media antisemitic War so first of all social media is sort of public media you know you have private media companies that push agendas for different reasons whether it's to sell advertisements to make this conflict into a sort of soccer game match as if it's one side is good one side is bad uh but social media is really media for the public and so if we're seeing a lot of anti-is an semitism it's a representation of the deeper problem within societyin pop culture that such ideas are even acceptable in the first place so it's not something that's just easily changed overnight but we need to use social media as a tool to spread light and show even better information now I think this also fundamentally starts by how we narrate our story I think many Jews when they talk about Israel they talk about facts they talk about 1948 they talk about 1967 they talk about 197 3 they talk about the United Nations they talk about all these things that are factual and it's great for a certain conversation today the youth andal spaces and political spaces care about narratives that are based on Liberation and Justice the same way if I were to go and sell a product in France I would be speaking in French or if I'm selling a product in America I am speaking in English so people can understand the audience today cares about about narratives and about Justice and Liberation and we have the story so how can we tell our story to the world the story of Israel is a story of a 4,000-year old native people from the land of Judea that were physically in forcely displaced by a western white Nation called the Romans during our I don't not be afraid and if we start doing those things we can shift things we look 70 years ago in America for example you didn't have rights for women to vote you didn't have civil rights so what happened that in seven years which there's still plenty to change for those communities that a society shifted to a point that today it's ridiculous to even say that a woman wouldn't be able to vote or that a black person wouldn't have equal rights just because their skin color a society has shifted because people invested in the youth and the youth changed their objective and how they saw the world and also people put their lives on the line and also gave their lives in order to be able to change history and to create Justice and Jews should not be afraid to stand up because if you don't stand up you might be minimizing the risk of your attack in your life in the short term but you're maximizing the risk on the long term so do not hide who you are and be able to stand up for your people uh Israel or whatever it is and the in the other hand whoever is spreading the hate the haters will get all those messages instead of balancing it out I think there's a huge problem in that social media and I must add that I'm I'm uh this year for 2021 I'm going to be representating of un let unite Foundation it's very important to jaob that you will hear that it's a foundation that's for not for JS for everyone uh to unite through education so they're coming with a with a platform and a curriculum for school to make it a um a part of uh the legal system to learn about everything all the key issues and they're coming up with an app I'm going to be a presenter of that I'm trying to work and be part of that 20 21 will be amazing with the light unite Foundation I had to say that so keep keep keep uh uh looking and hearing about light unite Foundation thank you la for reminding me uh but I really think that there is a problem in social media how how that can be controlled because you will confirmation bias and e Chambers and you're absolutely whatever you Google if you're basically typing in your answer in your question you're going to find the answer that you want regardless of if it's right or wrong and the things that you're already liking and already watching and already prone to are the things that you're going to be exposed to over and over so there is definitely an issue with social media in that way however the reason for why today a lot of the left especially in the youth is geared towards anti-israel which wasn't always the case it's not necessarily because of social media it's because anti-israel anti-jewish individuals have gone to those spaces and have created coalitions with these minority groups and have convinced them that the source of their suffering whether it be the suffering of people of color whether it be the suffering of women of Native Americans of Hispanics is either the same thing that Israel is doing to the Palestinians or Israel themselves are responsible for the suffering that they experience which is again exactly what anti-Semitism is to find the source of suffering and blame it on the Jewish people or to find the source of suffering and guilt of what you have and to associate that to the Jewish people and so they've been putting the work for 20 years to convince the society that to change the mentality within the youth that the problem is the Jew AKA Israel so confirmation bias and Echo Chambers are an issue but we need to invest in the younger generation especially on college campuses especially even in high schools and to be able to educate people and to create a more holistic reality because to be pro-israel doesn't mean you have to be anti- Palestinian Palestinians exist here there's no future where they disappear so we have to stop and and transcend these narratives where to be Pro one you have to be anti the other in my opinion if you're anti- one you're anti both because neither will disappear so to continue pushing zero some game narratives only allows us to stay in so we also have to leave a space for us to transcend the the the the conversation that isn't even holistic when we approach it so many even Jewish students go to the other side and become anti-israel because they feel that they were never taught anything even of the Palestinian narrative and they feel to so there has to be an approach of holistic truth and we also have to apply that and to try to educate that to the younger generation to build coalitions and it's not something that happens overnight but there is always a strategy to things let's say let's take college campuses for example you have four years you have freshman sophomore junior senior when sop when Junior when seniors graduate you have freshman that come in within four years you have a brand new campus so if you're coming in and targeting the The Freshman within four years of being there already they grew up in their four years of education with the presence of understanding what the Jewish people are because there's a group there that's educating people and within four years you can take back campus so we have to understand what's right for what's real for what's ethical for what's kind not only for Jews but also for Arab children for Muslim children and then there's the third View and that's the shame God's name because if you look at history we are here today 4,000 years later where is the Egyptian Empire where is the Persian Empire where is the ancient Assyrian Empire Babylonian Empire Greek Empire Roman Empire Byzantine Empire where are they all and the answer is they're in Wikipedia and we are the Jewish people and the answer is we created Wikipedia and Google and Facebook and Instagram at least part of those why what did we have that they didn't have the answer is we had shame we had and we have an eternal connection with that source of life which is transcendent absolute Timeless and eternal which the Torah and Faith have given us so I think in today's generation we have to bring all the opinions together we need to fight anti-Semitism sometimes with a fist and sometimes with a very strong United voice of morality and truth and history and UC ation and that includes also a voice there are Jews who put ads into newspapers that spew spew rhetoric of anti-Semitism and hatred they put ads on social media if all these Jews who had influence would stand up and say no no no I'm not going to be part of people who advertently or inadvertently are demonizing Jews for absolutely no reason we all have to use our influence our fists and our shovels in every way possible and I think together with that and the Baseline and the soul of it as R said in the soul of it is a very powerful connection to Judaism to yish to Torah to God to Mitzvah and to Unity because I think ultimately it's our spiritual resilience and faith that allows us to be able to live through and endure through thick and thin and not only survive but also Thrive and transform Darkness into light amen amen I I'm I'm I really think that uh whoever is an influencer in the as a religious he should stand up first uh and then judge others who are in another way I'll tell you we have a problem I find I want to hear what you guys have to say but a lot of Jews I speak to they're very Meek they they feel there's like a lot of an inferiority complex sometimes they blame themselves sometimes they really have this self-loathing self-hate and sometimes they're just tired and exhausted like you said get your degree make your money you know build your family and and move on and I think I think we're making a mistake because you know you called you called us are the immune system or or the I said before miners canaries the Jewish people are from the Jewish perspective and I think history's perspective we are a vital component in the progress of mankind towards a consciousness of organic Oneness and Redemption this is a very powerful role and that's why 4,000 years from the day Abraham stepped foot on the planet the world has been obsessed with the Jewish people nobody knows why we are so tiny we are so small the real answer is R cook once said because every nation has its time in history when it gives its message on Center Stage and he said the Jewish people are stuttering after thousands of years we're stuttering so the world is saying no no new but our message is so powerful but we are afraid of our own message we are afraid of the words we heard at Sinai from God we're afraid really we're afraid of our power we're afraid of our influence we're afraid of our goodness and I say to my brothers and sisters no no no we have the most encouraging calm powerful voice and message to be a true light onto ourselves and unto all the nations that we are all God's children we are all limbs of one organism we are all interconnected and integrated with each other and we are all responsible to make this a world of Oneness a world of goodness a world of kindness and the world is desperate to hear this message decisively with kindness but firmness and Confidence from every every single Jew
