it's called attire from Baltimore thank
you for joining LCS ugh my pleasure and
we are delighted to have you today to
talk about the 7/11 Slurpees and in
honor of that we have over here a
special icon over here
you don't know what the Slurpee is
because that's with it and I I want to
start with this story as a host I am
Prerogative trying to get something for
it right a few years ago there was a
7-eleven not far from here that was
selling not not not kosher in 7-eleven I
was selling none
well they advertise it as kosher hot
dogs but who knows they had some leather
up there it was next day they are not
coach hot dogs we certainly didn't
recommend it and I went in there to talk
to them to see what we could do about it
and when I eat I call the 7-eleven
corporate to discuss it with them I got
a call back very soon afterwards from
corporate and he said he wants to get
what the issue is it's not sure what he
can do about it but he was told very
clearly and he should make the start gay
happy that he should he should try to do
what he can because even we I mean we
don't we don't get paid by them or
anything we know they're not clients of
ours but we do put up this stark a list
then the slippery list and and and then
it wasn't really that much to do about
it they couldn't really control him and
then they went out of business so
varnish em for that Slurpees was the
topic of rabbit buyers cashews comes
article in this month's phosphorus of
cars there we go we're be confidential
article if you haven't seen it you can
get it in the mail you can find it on
our website it's an article about well
tell us what it's about
everybody it's no surpise what about the
survey's
right well you know we've had the the
Slurpee list we meaning the star K has
had a Slurpee list basically listing all
of the kosher recommended Slurpees for
we've had it now for probably 20 years
something like that and other agencies
have as all have also picked up on the
idea of having a Slurpee list including
Chicago they have one and I believe in
Canada there's a couple of lists as well
the idea behind the article though was
to try and understand a little bit about
why illogically well what the hell on
basis is to rely on this list because
we're not this star K and then any
conscious agency really is not going in
and saying that all the Slurpees in all
all those stars are all certified Kosher
we're not saying that what we're saying
is that based on our research the the
the syrup or the concentrate that's
being used in the machinery are all
certified and based on certain holic
issues we are saying that you can trust
that the Slurpee that you're buying is a
kosher slurry that's what we want to
talk about but that's that is the basis
of that basically so there is a there is
a disclaimer though at the beginning of
that article there's a disclaimer that
says and some guy in the office it were
just it on write yours truly that we do
not certify Slurpee stores and it's
better to buy from a store that is
certified or to go back and check the
flavor so I wanted to leave that to the
side for one second and bringing us back
into this conversation it's like who's
the owner of a Slurpee here in
of a 7-eleven or 7/7/11 I probably only
slip these two or a two-second 7-eleven
to sounds yeah
the two it's not a big step they won by
Old Court okay they won by ta right okay
so yeah to several Emmys when we were
allowed please sure okay so when we were
buffering yeah when I was about a high
school locker so it back to their Israel
here in Baltimore in their Israel there
was between the Shiva and registan Road
there was like nothing going on it was
all woods okay and then if you if you
make the he make the right turn off
Reisterstown Road which is a main drag
here in Baltimore then you would get to
the only thing you would get to over the
7-eleven and I think they had a panic
man machine this is going back to the
80s so there was a pacman machine and it
has Slurpees and that was like the big
draw to get guys to like illegally get
off campus to sneak out where's the
Slurpees was the Slurpees in the a
machine okay so that so this so you
sucks one of Utah's stores is the one
that's closest to to nari strong yeah
and there's not the store is closest to
ta which is nothing evil here in this
because a lot of students end up being
walk over first day okay
so I mean the first question that comes
to mind we're talking about a shaman
Shabbos owner of a 7-eleven is first of
all they sell non kosher and and and
they're open on a lot of issues were
involved when I joined was about Twitter
business and I suspect if you're upon
him of you know get a team of town to
see what the header is what we can work
out so at the end I have a real going
partner non Jew partner that I have and
you know then I should also mention the
problem wasn't just Shabbos Chaves a lot
of businesses dealing with non kosher is
fine but biggest problem that I had was
possible challah
because you have pepperoni pizza there
you know and it's a mini restaurant this
is an allowance has cheese and meat and
all mixed up so that you
the bustle of the meat and milk mixed
together you can't get the fish from
that that cannot benefit I cannot serve
I cannot make I cannot you know if they
need help to make any of the food I
don't touch any of the food make so but
I do not own any of that part and I had
to get a lawyer and Rabbani to draft a
legal document to sell any profit bump
any of the yummy talking of Shabbos or
for that matter to show up or any of the
day's that's better not to work as well
as any non kosher product in the store
with go to the COI and a monthly basis I
can invite you used to have a sign on
this in the front of the store that said
non kosher products in the store are
sure are under are you owned by my
different person did you take them I
think I went through a renovation so
that was one reason also it caused some
question by saying that was happening
even though even the are going to ever
agreement what I did I had to go that's
why I had to hire a lawyer to make sure
of things legal like you know but
7-eleven knows me as the representative
of the French frys either I cannot just
have another person owning it so you
have to make it look absolutely
so the rebutting that you work with a
very harsh everyone in town I just want
to point out it's not the star case not
right behind them and we don't we didn't
arrange that for you or way that's
really nothing to do with that part of
it but there are bottom that you work
with our crushes the reliable so do you
work at the store you actually work in
the store are you never pulled this out
of this tell us another service but you
can come you see me ever in the story
evolve you know that I could yeah is
there any other from 7-eleven over in
the country that unites on about
7-eleven but there is their convenience
convenience or yeah there's one in
Lakewood I believe like gas station
validations you know that one I think
they don't do they only so I think they
have cool trend I believe I don't know
why you think they have both I think so
right there you had something like that
okay so okay we deal with that simple
topic and simple thing turning through I
had to go through a lot of questions
just to make sure my own table is on the
line right okay so right so what is
let's go back to this to the Slurpee
logic I mean if you're in a store and
it's under attack sherry he mentions of
a parry mentions in Toronto this one's
on the COR we know in Detroit there was
someone that I bought there yes III
heard from rabbi Brody actually yes who
runs the Detroit would write some
questions on your arcade some questions
get there
and at one point we were certifying the
Slurpees in your store right yes well it
wasn't as sad as at the beginning I
started not for the sake of the money
just for the sake of service to have
there's a night challenge that had
thought and that part I had to work with
you know that we tell her we have a
match so for that to our time on this
one Thursday night it were you know at
the end it wasn't you know it wasn't it
was a lot of had about headache coming
to what it was paying off and you know
so I stopped it and but during that time
period
once I had the I was getting extra for
the Thursday night I had all the ballet
pee on their necks a spot right okay
look people come in they know you anyway
they don't really need a heavier on it
when they I'm not always there believe
me I get many calls from my staff doing
today tank talk to this person because
they don't have this culture so when I
talk to them they don't know who's on
the phone so I have sake I mean hip you
know they can trust but but that's why I
get persevering going on there she'll
discuss it with you no no um yet but I
want to come back under the under some
people don't have questions that's right
okay so what is the okay so if you have
a half shot in the store fine
right so mr. alter he's not really the
best way so did I get there jail right
there so even if I have Hampshire on the
store right that not necessary means
that all flavors that I'm carrying is
kosher that's correct because every two
or three months 7-eleven comes up with a
new flavor like therapy and sometimes
they're branded Nike Coke or Pepsi
products or Fanta products so you know
this start kosher sometimes there might
be off pants that they come up with
their own you know as try now everything
is become similar and breath
on brand and property and of beverages
so they might come up with their own yes
so you mentioned that let me just bring
7-eleven by having their own train had
its name for themselves that's what you
can see on your screens now as someone
just asked me yesterday about this this
Jerry and it's branded 7-eleven well and
is that it wasn't what you said it
wasn't done Elizabeth each kosher as far
as I know it's closer yeah that's all
that's a part of a coke product label
for come yeah however they wanted to add
real juice to it so I didn't I removed
my culture sign from the new signage
until I got the proper you know paper
paperwork
so you're saying even if you have to
serve the one that they send you
sometimes a new flavor I have this you
have to serve it may not be kosher
that's right so even if I have several
one week but I have to serve kosher is
that what you're saying is a culture
store does not mean that everyone every
flavor there absolutely for sure okay I
would think well it's probably gonna be
coaching the end I would think so a man
we know imagine then what you need to do
obviously it would be to label you'd
have to know that the story there have
to be some sort of a sign that this
store is under half shirt for the label
and then the rocket right you'd have to
have a list of the ones that were sure
so what I do on the machine but idea is
a label which that's the flavor I put a
sticker on it that's this kosher and the
oh you or you know or the repair or you
know dairy I label them so they know so
if something I'm not sure you know they
see five flavors are they have a kosher
sign that six one doesn't automatically
people are not taking it okay so that
would be true even if the story the
extra how many how many none in your
ownership of these seven how long you
belong the stores at three years three
years and how often have you come across
a non kosher Slurpee flavor so I think
twice and I'm not saying but you know
100% date was not kosher but it you know
one time was a 7-eleven brand so we
could not give that certification
and at the end
means I was able to provide it to me
there was another time that I was trying
to get the certification for it no one
knew what it was and I had to cut called
you know oh you I call different places
so that's flavor I ran it you know one
cycle and for one case I think you're
driving it there really it might be Co
99.9 percent of them are right which is
what kosher anyway which is what the
impression we've always been operating
under em and 7-eleven I mean that the
person that I spoke to the head of the
Slurpee division I'm really caught me
you know Charles it's the beverages the
beverage division was very adamant that
they then all they're the flavors are
kosher and that's what they told me so
they had in every there could be
different kinds of culture sure right
this is different obviously I was in
Vegas for the semi 11 show and I was
talking to head of beverages for a Salem
corporates Mike Mike Gallagher Brazilian
so he told me that all flavors that they
use is kosher but if I want for the sign
there I cannot put a sign on the side
see there sure myself unless I see the
certification myself I cannot put a sign
that I approve it
okay Robin Wascher sake much care for
number of years
I worked closely over character for
goodness okay there you go so we're
talking about this is part of the
halassi basis to allow without if
there's no happier on the store and you
didn't go to the back to check the
flavor right probably unlocking basis is
that really most of them are oh sure
kosher part what about the ones that are
not that are not kosher are you asking I
meant something like the ones that are
not the kosher so a few there the few
that are that are not kosher so our
feeling was that whatever is looked at
in a worst-case scenario if someone
walks into the store and there's a
flavor that's not kosher and they take
that flavor that's what you're asking me
yeah
they take the non kosher flavor yeah
something to be like are you asking no
I'm asking you maybe the the store owner
is lying
yeah isn't putting the right plan for
putting the route lacquered right well
and he's saying this is coke but really
is something else right so and it's
off-brand I mean we're not we're not
claiming that we're going to be able to
make a non kosher flavor kosher right
that's not gonna happen
right but what we are saying is that
whatever non kosher whatever there is in
this flavor that's not kosher
more than likely is probably bottle
probably not quite so really don't even
it's something really you shouldn't buy
without the Heckscher but if you do and
what are the odds anyway even though it
does happen it doesn't we know that it
happens well let me ask you as an owner
so our impression has been that the that
Slurpee that 7-eleven is very careful
about making sure that the signage is
correct and you know that's something
that they check up on apparently they do
they check so for the most part we have
to buy products from Selina from their
own wholesaler through the system
however if I run out of a is flavor okay
this is the
so you know I have to option I can
either see who else has I can borrow one
I can just leave it empty so I'm out of
that flavor
I can't run to a local source he wants
but if they have something similar or to
do it so what's the chance of it not
much however I can we can you know I if
someone goes online finds a cheaper
flavor you know a cheaper brand that can
buy and bring it to the store and sneak
it in here and there I was telling and
you know when they come to study had a
lot of things that we go over you know
systematic wise and reporting voice and
you know for running the store so do not
necessarily we go and check every single
leaf that I have in the back room every
single you know viv is a baggie right
back in the box that I have in the back
foot so well however you know if someone
someone wants to do it ok you know but
again well how much does the cash
I don't so here's the thing everybody
like anybody you spoke to 7-eleven they
told you that they're very careful and
they would never allow you to have one
sign when there's something else right
in the basket is that true is that true
they find out it will say you know what
is stop it bringing it down they would
they wouldn't even try to stop a day
because this clarity is a big phony that
something not a fine
I wouldn't say is a fine powder they
just consider remove it you know change
it time to your times then it can you
know probably knows
slip is their signature is tell me the
unseen is slurpee great signature
product signature product yeah right so
they don't want to ruin the reputation
by you know well we had a story from I
think
that it was a summer that was very hot
it was a heat wave right and they were
allowed to buy some off-brand I don't
know if they were allowed or not allowed
yes they asked for this with it sounds
like you had a brother
they were out of it so just by the wall
friend and no one's really coming in to
check that you changed the signage so it
can it can happen it seems again so I
think that that uh
that we understand that it can happen
right we're saying then it's a certain
it's not a certification right okay
we're not saying that but how often does
it happen let's say a hundred times you
go in and you see the sign how often
would you think that it's not what's
behind there did you ever say it's not
behind the ampersand and the other and
the bag in a box that's the fact there
is closure probably that might happen
often
all right what if the syrup in the bag
or just zero but the sign in front in
correcting quick Wow
happens a lot it can happen why for
example you mentioned your article as
well when we get an you when you can
have it the very opportunity for labors
anything I said in an article by the way
is when a new flavor or comes in or when
I'm at a walk to the ground and put a
different flavor therapy I don't go and
empty out all barrel this better machine
with the from the previous familiar I
just hook up the new flavor and it
becomes a mystery flavor or a new flavor
and some has people loved right and the
ads or what time to that so there you
had yesterday
sorry that's gone
she doesn't mention and you didn't
change the sign mystery on it no idea
for example if it's a for example it's a
banana flavor so I keep the banana
flavor yeah until oh and if I put mat
and afterwards until I see the color
changes in the middle at some point then
I change the label one other times 1000
times that is something I am what you're
saying even then probably using a kosher
chef ed that's how often is it that that
the sign is says the coach of flavor and
in fact there's an on culture
that's very non kosher flavor is in
general a very rare and even if it is a
non kosher flavor it's not like eating
concert it's not like the flavors are
right they should have a have sure but
the odds that so again every person has
to make the wrong decision what they
want to say if you want something if you
want to be a hundred percent so go store
that has a lecture or check the bag but
it's not unreasonable from no benefit
right Whistler plist right 7-eleven
gives us nothing we don't get paid for
this it's just a service exam your
question is really just a service that
we provide to the hourly seven this
thing is that the moment there are not
any non kosher Slurpee flavors does that
affect things I don't know how you know
that how would you know that they're not
any I don't know if that's true that's
from Arlene
I mean I think that you even know that
they're known that maybe not the
official certain flavors but they're
awfully off-brand they're all saying
Slurpee flavors isn't she she said
Slurpee flavors no non-conscious I think
7-eleven has I believe 7-eleven believes
that they all love their flavors are
kosher so that's what they that's what
they that's what they claim they claim
but it's very hard to know because each
one has to be checked out right one
LLC behind it correct right
I would say the majority certainly the
majority of Slurpee flavors are from
major soda brands that we all drink sure
right Coke and Pepsi and and you know
there's a few of the weird ones but most
of them are from major brands and most
of all those major brands are reliably
served
so teleport ones and paul asks on the
starcade slippery list for some flavors
it says only when bearing coach's symbol
what does that mean - they consume life
what does that mean what do you say only
one bearing for the Slurpee maybe for
the ICC's I think oh okay yes I see Isis
that yeah we don't say that for Slurpees
I see you have to go back and check the
boxes my shake each box so I sees works
differently why well first of all
because I see the I see product is
certified by wherever it is getting a
lot of free air time here by by Detroit
you know the Detroit VAD and and that's
what their instructions were that we
should check them I think it's possible
that some of the I see the syrups are
not necessarily made in in a kosher play
I think that it's possible but that's
why they told us to be careful to tell
the people that we should test it right
so we don't want ever guess what the
hash this is right okay so Paul does
that mean you need to ask to see the
certain tainer that would be true for
the Isis yes
my sense is one is concerned about
symptom in the legs shouldn't want to
refrain from buying
slippery's because there may be Bentall
okay it's again it's a kind of thing
that you know I'm not giving it up sure
the odds are very small that there is a
and that and I would say that we feel
how logically that yes it's okay and if
you want to go to the high level then
yes then then only go to a place maybe
check the box when when rabbi Goldberg
and I were younger so I don't think
there was a concept of buying a product
in a non kosher establishment right well
I mean the people do that I don't know
this they weren't around 60 64 look at
the history thing over there in the
article no but I'm saying it this whole
concept of going into a store that sells
you know non kosher and purchasing
something that's prepared not in a
packaged you know in a certified
packages unusual it's kind of a modern
concept this whole idea so yeah I think
person as we write in the article person
should be careful right and I'm sure
there was an article I read about a year
and half two years ago that about this
topic that maybe Josh coffee is the
right thing or wrong thing the you know
the batter I don't always love the idea
but what interesting you mentioned it
right yeah I guess I mean another
question is maybe the person himself
might want to be strict about it the
question is for your children everybody
else's ratings for the fees it's very
difficult to the saying like one of the
rabbi's in the office has the following
logic what do you think of this he says
that he feels that coke the coke Slurpee
they're always gonna have coke and it's
always gonna be the real thing because
everybody knows the taste of coke and
excuse the pun and it's always gonna be
the coke because good ad campaigns oh so
if it feels comfortable telling
everybody these kids everybody they can
always buy coke cuz coat they always
have to have I haven't people does that
make sense it makes a nice few main
flavors well you can't run out of any
flavor
7:11 told me there was three main
flavors in our hands and it wasn't part
the article writes the bull the
raspberry the wild cherry and the coke
so and the way we do it we try to break
em up between you know usually our to
disturb machines so we break the flavors
if one machine goes down some of the
other main flavors are still up in the
other machine okay so what is it the
Machine Co get out there a lot really a
lot really that's appreciated in the
summertime you know that's been usually
they really yeah and we call them you
know a few times a week machine company
cuz I see I see company emotional about
machinery yeah things their product it's
something we deal with it with 7-eleven
so you're saying buy coke also it's not
a given that there's always confines
anything else argument coke the flavored
cold nobody knows it everyone even if
it's not coke but just a flavor of Cola
yeah it's not as a complicated flavor
argue raspberry or wild share it's
probably gonna much likely to be not a
coach or suit I believe that that's the
also I mean can you tell the difference
between the brand coke Slurpee and an
off brand coke Slurpee I only had caucus
therapy I've told people I say are we
saying it's okay to eat non-kosher only
very rarely no we're saying that it
really happens that it's going to be a
non-kosher and even this it's a novice
certified flavor it's probably kosher
anyway although it's just not certified
meaning nobody went to look at the
ingredients in the song but it probably
is culture 99.9 percent of the time it's
not like eating in a restaurant that's
not kosher I just want to bring up one
thing you sometimes used to go to this
some convenience stores and you see they
have these machines that make Slurpee
type of drinks the slushies the slush is
people should not assume that they are
kosher because I know the fact that
those are all mainly of brands syrups
/aa smashes and are not carbonated you
know the internal icy machine or Slurpee
machine
Tennesseans are off pens whatever yeah
so you're saying is the same gas station
they have this washing machines that
Lena we can judge so we should make a
exact statements because those I know
I've been talking to many of the gas
stations and I see them that they just
go online they buy one in flavor and
it's not most of the enemy 11 is on top
of him or his I see Brandon have to
follow Isis so then can I just I don't
know think if we were going to cover
this topic or not but people that asked
us about other similar to what he's
saying
not necessarily the local gas station
but but you know chains that are
basically competing with 7-eleven quick
check for example or okay whatever so
something like that so I am I feeling
was is that if they're claiming if the
flavor that they have is as Cola or
Fanta it says that coca-cola Fanta
that that would be the same cup of
college answer that you would find in
7-eleven that would assume that that
would he would Norman that probably
right so there's there's no real
difference between a 7-eleven
locally we have we have real alarms real
farms right near base yeah they also
have applied disease does not own it yet
so they know that all incorporated they
know how yeah
elfonzo okay anyway but the point is
I've got a contact I'm trying to content
them every year to find out what's going
on who's there
slushie provider and they've always told
me invariably that it's called a cola
now so I've told people that you know
which should be coca-cola flavors and
that should be fine so the same logic as
a similar lifecycle similar logic
because the brand that it's a branded
probably you're right if you go into a
gas station where it doesn't really say
anything that's just a machine
flip it around sure that's problem so
high mass leaving conscious issues aside
for the moment is possible let's go
quickly show the camp or even a carpool
driver take the responsibility and take
the campers or carpals with Slurpee as
well
that is such classically that's so
that's a hard question to answer but I
mean carpoolers usually the kids that
drink Slurpee is not anything that's in
so we wrote about that situation quite
on waters whether you should take other
people's kids spent in the article oh
you write about me it didn't the article
oh you are careful scenario I'm not
necessarily approving that okay this is
a story crisis a scenario that's a
difficult question to answer I think
that usually if the kids are normally
drinking Slurpees you're probably not
doing anything then they wouldn't do
that normally but you know that's how
you know if you probably wouldn't know
if one of the kids is not allowed to
have normally Slurpees and now you've
been lending bringing him dad you should
not to get into a whole carpool
discussion but I remember you know we
were driving carpool more regularly so
we would you know the parents would
decide what they're going to listen to
in the car okay you know some parents
let's say had had tapes that they got
from the library book tapes okay you
know sort of not necessarily Jewish tape
it was culture tape but it was not
necessarily Jewish some parents it
wouldn't some parents were okay with it
you know you have to come to a decision
between the parents it has to be a kind
of a communal discussion so the same
thing if you want to bring the kids to
get Slurpees like rabbi go over who's
saying that should be something where
all the
so our question would be for a Kim you
know where you didn't have access to the
ask all the parents question yeah we had
the role of the camp we'll have to
investigate this I make his best
decision just to make a suggestion I
have had people
carpools the console store and even for
camp as well summer camp that they come
and solve the kids either you know if
they want to buy ice cream for the kids
you know the haagen-dazs and what impact
ice creams and sample wanna keep
Halloween style or something or you know
you cannot have dairy like this pretty
neat or they wanna gets there be someone
to someone that much sugar so they give
the other people options okay you know
you don't want to get ice cream because
you guys you know Jim Collins job you
can get a soda
everything is something good so but so
they bring the cook they brought the
kids over something that is very
something that you know ice cream but
they give them option if you know you
cannot have this I give a you know yeah
but I wants to get something else
together so that's it
start to give the kids a so yes so you
tell there's an idea okay give them
something there's something else that
would be kosher sure for anybody that's
right joint you know I can't get a
bottle of you know coke or whether okay
that's a bag of cheese that's a good way
out okay so all still asking questions
would that be about the 7-elevens how
can the 7-eleven have certification for
a Slurpee machine if they can send new
flavors any time because the the half
share will visit but and they will they
will set certain rules to the store and
tell them if you got into flavor you
have to call us first and if you don't
call us then we're gonna drop your
certification so that certification
store knows that they may be risking
their right if we would certify a store
and we go you know we agree on certain
flavors we go behind
shame you see what a new flavor what is
this you know certification is not going
to last and that means that he won't be
able to sell as many Slurpies icees
before and he has a loss and he doesn't
want that so the same idea when we and
we make that argument in the article
they want my real son where there is a
fear well that's easy asking if you have
a certification he's saying even with a
certain certification that's how it
works right but and so any questions
about the slippery's I think we well I
just wanted to just to bring up the idea
of when you mentioned drinks and
fountain drinks yeah
fountain sodas meaning the kind of soda
we will you buy from the soda fountain
so that's the same idea that you're
getting it's the same general idea of
that word that we're facing with the
Slurpee then the flavors that says it's
called the Cola right most of the
flavors you find it so people what
you're saying is the person may have
really you know God usually I'm going to
a fountain and taking coca-cola right
because he's assuming that it's coke
right but it's really identical the way
that there's a well in a sense of some
of the fountains take off-brand
sometimes it can't happen yes but you
know is that more or less often inside
things I never had I never seen anyone
doing that be honest with you because as
you say cold so that you cannot flavor
the flavor the taste anyone can tell if
a coke drinker would know it was a Pepsi
or coke or a you know colophon off-brand
Cola I see so you cannot play around
with window space so sometimes we get
different flavors
kick-starts blue raspberry or different
you know good juice product or energy
product out of a drink and that I have
to go and again cities course or not for
sure almost on Friday the signage has to
be that's correct
you notes and buy buy buy drinks you
don't leave the old stuff in there I
would imagine right now the drinks it
Jess you have to make sure that when you
put in coca-cola you're not gonna have
in orange you're not gonna have like
trying to fight we make sure you know
whatever watch behind you reflect the
pipe it's different it's learning so
that one that makes even better it makes
it have to be it easier because you're
not gonna get the mixture of the flavors
like everybody's right sure and it once
before we go through this step you just
want a mission just some of the flavors
the really but some of them are oh you
do yeah right so long it's the dairy
component no buying not lean it's very
it's very nullified yes those sugars the
original original one was the the Diet
Pepsi that were few Kannada came in with
with the tagatose which was a sweetener
based on milk sugar but there are other
ones that you might have other dairy
components I'm not sure sure
fairly certain that their desert bottle
and at this in Baltimore was available
right now if I want to order right now
to bring to the store is the a lot again
doesn't mean you should be treated go
ahead and drink that with a burger right
you can't do that right you're just
saying probably right right right so
that is more than if you if you had one
in there before if it was pina colada
flavor right in your Slurpee machine and
then you're gonna have a Coke in there
it will you know create it right it's
not make your coke there it did right
exactly one other indication then people
can watch for those also is at certain
time there's only certain flavors we can
order not all these flavors and
districts are available and instead and
that's area by area so right now besides
the regular flavors that we have in the
new flavors the new product on first we
can additionally order is banana
Mountain Dew in a colossal grape there
are five or six other flavors so if you
come to my store you see a strawberry
lemonade nobody else has it then you
might want to happen from that's right
but so dar have to be because 4px
but you know I went to the other stories
you know but it's there probably are
experts right there's a main flavors
that are always there so those five six
words that I mentioned plus blue
raspberry white cherry and coke those
are all ways you can find them in all
the stores and every two or three months
then you follow with only a couple of em
you come over then I when I got this the
7-eleven they had diet cherry coke and I
was hooked on it and before I knew it I
said I cannot order than I was possible
I didn't I did I was then instead the
system of you can get new flavor it was
a huge disappointment for me but you
know I cannot order them really yeah
it's Excel of those hundred flavors is
only there are about ten altogether
maybe it doesn't
oh yeah and then this is all that whole
world of unapproved
but that might be different area to area
for example the zone here which are few
state tri-state are certain flavors in
West Coast might be different flavors in
Canada might be different flavors that
they have okay alright I know that the
big thing it could for 7-eleven 7-eleven
just made me think you know the big
7-eleven Day is coming up July 11 oh
yeah yeah breed is free Slurpee that's
right come on their P's at the door free
fares yeah you know give that over three
thousand cups Wow that's why I mean this
story have people going from store to
store to store to store because they is
it true that they they track it by like
how do they my gums like cup right yeah
we drink up the cups maybe not cup of
pee ring up my sake
yeah pay for the customs so someone told
me that if you if you have a problem
with your Slurpee let's say it's all
watery or something you don't you don't
like it right so you can't just say it I
think they're gonna replace it for you
right because they give it a good
slippery you can't just take them thrown
in the garbage they want the cup back
well not because bag they want order you
have to keep track of the cops or
something because
otherwise they could charge for you yeah
well the Cubs are in the business their
senses are cost items coughs ladies the
straws of cost items we don't make money
we cannot sell a cup we sell the product
the cup back when you're switching it
for somebody well probably they might
want to keep track of it or just for
inventory purposes you know it's not
just well that's how the hundreds have
11 cups of Turkish models and we sell so
cookie number said they sold seven
billion feet something like that yeah
one for every prisoners ok let's talk a
little bit about ice cream we we stir
the fire so let me get to a different
screen over here we'll just talk a few
minutes because we're almost at the end
of our show but what was that we certify
baskin-robbins there we go so you see
this is this is the where is this it's
hard to read yeah this is the star D
which is basically non harvester L star
K on Baskin Robbins ice cream this has
this has two pages somehow do you get is
the second page okay so what does it say
what are the requirements of this Baskin
Robbins rocky road ice cream is not
kosher right because because of the
marginals as marshmallows in it
basically all the other ice creams are
kosher non-coffee straw right okay
decorations on store made custom-built
cakes and loose toppings in individual
stores are not on their box a condition
that means if you buy a cake in the
store it will have the the star D on it
but I think it does packaged tankage cow
it's not made in the store I mean it
didn't make the cakes in the store they
have it
then but you want to open it and write
on it you know happy birthday right then
then then there's no texture on that so
they want to add or if you buy an ice
cream and then they want to to add the
toppings to it that's not necessarily
kosher that's you know you're on your
own but there are another couple of
other rules I have them over here so you
mean if I go to Hershey Park or you know
in Atlanta and I do the best in rum and
I can assume that it's kosher
yes that just ice cream just just not
the rocky road my adopted knowledge is
not the toppings and for the cones or
the shakes or callosity if you hang it
in your hand you can get a little bit
emails cups and and so those that is a
kosher now sometimes people will ask us
like this the following question and
this is a fair question
then if the rocky road is not kosher and
the last person came in he had rocky
road right and now the scooper has rocky
road on their negative scoop of vanilla
so then I'm getting rocky road in my
vanilla that's one way to do it yeah
there one it doesn't work like like
Slurpees that at that the rocky road on
the thing might be bubble in the vanilla
well this is the question I don't want
rocky road in here it's really quite
nice not to that flavor at the classic
Baskin Robbins question that's the
classic Baskin Robbins question and you
know that is something that the person
might want to be concerned about but the
the logic to it is like this is that
they do
they do wash the descendants order put
into water water into running water I
mean between guests do that yeah they
were just leave it on account they stick
it in a bit of thing with water in it
okay well we might have rocky road
flooding we know very little it would be
that really wouldn't be a problem so if
it's you know if it's in between
customers it really wouldn't wouldn't be
in this really should not recommend
necessarily that so much you go in there
then request to have them wash off the
scoop or probably clean when you get it
but the problem might be if the previous
customer order in first rocky road and
then vanilla okay so so they don't gonna
wash it in between so they're gonna take
out the rocky road and then then think
of pretender cone and they're gonna take
out the vanilla so so it means the
Borden's maybe you did he ordered rocky
road add vanilla two scoops vanilla you
know the ring the rocky road so you
wanna Nilla so now they're not washing
it in between his scoops right that's
that would be the question and there
there is logic to be much of that as
well as in days since I evolved as what
are the odds that that happened the
previous time probably we have right to
assume that other people came in and
ordered vanilla and scooped out the
where they were the remnants of rocky
Roman that doesn't happen very often in
the first place and even when it happens
now somebody else probably came in in
order to order that other to flavor get
your wire on that sort of on that
certificate that the person should check
the barrel of ice cream technically
they're supposed to check the barrel of
ice cream but they're all kosher so I
don't think we've ever had any I don't
look 36 flavors definitely advertise
right the the all 35
except for I don't think we've ever had
a report of somebody you know mining
they're using something different than
what baskin-robbins supplies to them so
you know so that's why we're you know
that's why it's it so once upon a time
Howard Johnson's ice cream never how are
you Anson yes you remember haven't done
that's about that Perry Johnson's used
to be a hotel chain plus and I was also
restaurant so Howard Johnson's ice cream
was known to be culture mm-hmm they used
to be a Howard Johnson's we're target is
right now or resin Center okay
there was a Howard Johnson's restaurant
their restaurant okay you don't remember
this no not really
so guys we could be coming back to Shiva
mmm from town damn arrest I wrote that
was a very long light right by that that
right heart and now I never did this is
what I've heard they would probably car
would be at the light someone would run
in to the Howard Johnsons get some ice
cream and come back in a row back past
one there are places that sell yogurt
that made they make yogurt you know and
and the yogurt the store is not on the
certification but the the yogurt mix is
on the certification right like come
many things over there we do recommend
earlier I do recommend that people go
and check the boxes that you're using
Kabbalah they ask them to go behind the
counter because they're if they're
making using an off-brand it's not like
using an off-brand of Slurpee where the
questions are minimal but I buy yogurt
the questions are much more serious and
and I would recommend that they check to
make sure they're getting what they say
is on you know many people make an
assumption that arenas are professor yes
sir all over the country is that you
think that it's something that we have
to ask our bakersfeld
Rena's expert he certifies them he can
tell us whether it's there's any real
concern that they're buying from
somewhere else or is it always going to
be the Reda's product because the
readers product our understanding is
that its reliance on you know you write
reliable and certified mmm the mixes of
whatever it is that you're using there
but isn't it the same logic that the
branded chain of stores they have to
only gets quite funky you know a
supplier like 7-eleven you are filming
that if you are getting from 7-eleven
probably on phones getting in from Rovio
farm you know Baskin Robbins from bass
going can't you sell but you just hope
this if we had a greatest list then
maybe we would agree with him we don't
have a real size house but no my place
that anywhere you know first name can
might just makes gotta make a shortcut
and if we get caught in problem or you
know if temporarily they have to do the
problem with with say yeah there should
be a lot to like that but it will okay
so I think we come to the end of our
seven the seminar we are grateful to
miss Debbie roses for doing the some of
the technical work want to thank you
have a buyer for joining us look for
joining us they're checking us the back
story of a servant
