hello and welcome to starcase monthly webinar we're here in the Starkey offices in Baltimore Maryland to my right is rabbiar thank you for joining us and I'm here I'm Robert C Goldberg we are here the uh let me just give you a couple of of preliminaries and uh what's the topic the topic right tell us the topic well I worked for my um preliminary sheet I think it's um how to deal with pesach in Sub-Zero temperatures that's good with snow last year we we burnt the hummus with in the snow remember that I remember that that was something that was right because last year it was early yeah yeah this year I don't think we'll have snow on peso you never know um these uh webinars are recorded and you can find them afterwards on uh kosherclasses.org or you can look we now have Vimeo channels and YouTube channels you can find them over there we do have our last webinar which was a special webinar checking uh for insects uh checking vegetables and we had uh videos that we showed and it came out quite well it's a good one that was a good one that was a good one and uh and you can find that I recommend you go to Vimeo and search for Star K certification uh the insect checking webinar you'll be able to find it there the link was also in the email that you got for today's webinar we do have our book out our book is out and let me show you what that looks like um let's see if this can we can bring this up early later okay minor technology you should be able to see on your screen the 2014 Passover directory it's a a joint effort between our webs and the star k um probably best provides the medication information so if you want to know if a certain medication is okay for a pay stuff doesn't have any comments in it so you can look in our book uh the reason that it says Abridged web would sort of defeat the purpose of being able to provide the Colo with a with a benefit so but on our website you can find all other piece of information except for the meditation the book is the the book you're doing a signing I think um you can do that okay uh so um yeah Barnes and Nobles right uh we also have first I think this is the first for this year but we had something last year also there I have it actually loaded on my uh my pad which is somewhere I was here before it's right there where is it in the chair it's on the chair okay here we go I have it loaded here and in this in what on on Facebook I assume that's what he was saying yeah um okay we haven't had that we had last year on the airplane but okay he says that there was no longer stuff too in New York City right um looks like we still all hit air on interface the closer okay well we have therapist advice so that was that was uh that was then as well okay the way we I'm not sure if you can see you can see some of the products we have here in front um I went to our local Kosher grocery store which is called Seven Mile market and they were kind enough to lend us uh this array of pace of foods for our programs Show and Tell uh and um so we do have we can show you some of the things that we have to talk about I wanted to start the way that we presented the webinar of the buyers trying to save you money on pesach which is a good thing because it can be very expensive yeah masses are up to 20 25 a pound schmura I was gonna say I got machine matzah with a decent certification for like uh two bucks for five pounds okay so yes you go I I I I I uh I do that as well I went to uh Safeway another store right and they sell five pound boxes for for like two three yes I stock up I I use those masses during the year I use different brands on pay stuff but I I started yeah in the Shoppers can I say that the Choppers um and they had it for for three bucks right so that's that's you know that's a loss leader obviously they're not making money they have grape juice also for two two four five dollars right you get a whole case right we stock up for the year on grape juice around this time because you get these good sales right uh Mrs pensac wrote an article for us uh that's in this book uh about how to save money for uh on pesach and some of the things that she mentions this article is available for free like all our articles um some of the things she mentions are that you should pay attention what you did the previous peso because sometimes you attempt to over Buy you know you buy uh right 16 different bottles of dressing right right and or you buy uh uh one one of our listeners wrote in that sometimes you buy 10 cans of potato starch and you only use four so you would know that if you remember from from year to year how much you need right uh RAM behind them it has a money-saving tip that for these Roa on the Sailor plate that you can use part of the chicken chicken wing that's directly attached to the body as this rower instead of the more costlies raw which they sell special and they charge you special for the Target and now now I'm in a way very good everybody that was perfect very good so they charge you a lot you can just use according to his uh opinion the chicken wing of course if you have a different costume you go with your custom but not necessarily not necessary to go to the butcher to uh to buy what they call azra she also points out that if you can wait till after peso then you can get some good sales or during pay stuff sometimes they're ready to put things on sale right Ben says which part of the wing uh uh did did we say the wing the wing let me let me probably the wind he just means he's directly attached to the body okay that's the wing the wing is directly attached to the body it's not like we're dividing up the wings they're not like the upper wing and lower wing okay there's one Wing right okay that's what it is um save money by not buying all these expensive products and do pay stuff the old-fashioned way that certainly would be uh when you're buying all these products a lot of people do that I mean let's see them and and people who don't like they don't they don't buy anything they don't buy anything they make everything themselves which you have to have a lot of time right but yeah that would save money ITA says watch out for Travis raw bones so that sold in regular supermarkets okay so you go into a regular supermarket and they have a sign I guess that says Passover yeah uh plate and people might think that that would be okay to buy and that's thank you for pointing that out uh so we we you can see all the ideas that Mrs pensac has in our book um um that's available online or in your bookstore but uh one of the things I wanted to concentrate on is how to save money by not necessarily buying things that are only kosher for peso meaning there are things that are available as cultural pesos which may not be necessary to buy as kosher it doesn't need a Passover doesn't give you the passive certification that's one of our our pushes that we tell um of course from a uh certification point of view from a business point of view let's say it would be better if we say everything needs passive certification business no we are not of that no so we we do uh try to let people know what they can buy without a Passover certification um and that way they can save money um so for instance we have can I pull something yeah we have the almonds over here we have almonds these up Passover certified okay that's a good one too these are almonds that are passed over certified um but you don't need to get just fine but whole nuts that don't have any preservatives and are not made and it doesn't say on the label that's made in the factory that packages hummus or kidneys we accept without any acidification you can save a lot on that because they charge you a lot they're expensive they charge you during the year that's right they charge a lot for the Passover Passover the difference is now there is a difference between the two the difference is that when you buy the nuts that have a passive certification that means there's a rabbi there and he's checking to make sure all the equipment is perfectly clean and lots of coming in from the proof source and uh and and you know you you'll pay for that and that's fine if you feel more comfortable with that we feel that a person who's even if he's serious about cautious he can go with the other with you know with the the uh absolutely the the uh the nuts that we mentioned um there's something about the pecans though pecans we do have a little bit of an issue with right that's in our book also you can see about the people the joy is asking what about pecans well the whole pecans yeah or pecans you know that by heart I don't know where you're from I am impressed yeah good um are okay but it's the um it's the pecans pecans that are problematic right the midgets because they um there are reports that they soak them in alcohol pecan pieces and midgets those are the ones that are a problem otherwise they're okay so you know if a person wants to say I only want to buy things with a passive extra it's Passover I don't care so I'm fine that's there's something to that but uh we're telling you if that we don't feel that it's absolutely necessary another example is what you picked up so that's the Hershey's cocoa so it's domestically produced yes and uh we accept that 100 cocoa it doesn't require a passive reaction again the same thing if you bought the one with the passive reaction I'm not sure if I uh brought one along then it'll be more expensive probably it would be more expensive right and you would get all that yeah right there was somebody there for the packing okay uh let's take a look at some of these things this is Masa um and actually this is not a way to save money Rabbi buyer did I buying something like this because that's not for password this is not for Passover right somebody somebody May stock this in a Passover aisle maybe not in in a kosher store although even in the kosher store it's not the the machia from stock in the shelves he could make a mistake or it certainly insane you know you're bringing up another point this is another point this is not how to save money by buying things that I know I understand not Kosher things and the point you're bringing up is that when you go shopping right for products and you're buying products that do need to be kosher certified for Passover that you check the labels absolutely because there have been instances where like this with the matzas is very it's not very common fortunately but it could happen or they could have the non-kosher for Passover matzo mix in with the Passover months I had a story in my own home where um those little soup cubes that people use to make soup so they had really right next to each other and the same colors and everything soup cubes kosher for Passover soup cubes not Kosher professor and I you know when you're not looking you grab the one that's not gonna pass over and it could be a big problem and be very careful right you have to be very careful with that I was trying to change the screen a little bit to to get the chat a little bigger but not so easy to do that um another thing that I that I noticed is going off topic a little bit because that's what we do here on Empire okay um I was in the store and I know this this is with a big sign this is kosher for Passover Pepsi we have to return everything here this is has a KP on on the cap okay this is not good why is it not good no because they usually have a different color oh but this has a KP this is this is actually it's good but you think it's not the best yeah look for a cake you have to be careful this has KP on on the cup on the top and that's fine for peso um and there's a big sign kosher for Passover and then I saw this little container next to it these are Little Nash keys made by poshkies and I'm wondering oh I didn't know that poshkas has coaches but you never know we have here noodles you're right these are noodle macaroni this is this is from Weavers it's not made with uh it's made with potato starch or whatever so you never know and I picked it up and I said oh this is a good thing to show but then I realized it's not it's not because why did you think it was good because it was just next Tuesday big sign that said it's this is you know this was like a Facebook section absolutely um so you have to be very careful with that kind of situation um okay let's take some of these let's take some of the questions if we can uh I'm sorry we won't be able to get all the questions but let's let's take a break and we will do that um let's see okay please address quinoa today if possible okay that happens to be my my issue um this is the quinoa about Goldberg is a champion this is quinoa packed by setting the Farms um it is rkp um there was there was a a more common brand called ancient Harvest that for all the years was was doing Kosher for pesach this year they decided they didn't want they weren't interested they didn't do it um so we're not recommending that for peso there are uh this brand there's also another question okay okay right we could do that how much time are you giving me uh we had the whole remember last year we had a whole webinar and it's still available um uh if you go yes on quinoa if you go to our if you go to our yeah let me give out this information if you want to know more about it go to our site I'll give you the the link it's star Dash K dot o-r-g forward slash quinoa so if you spell that just like it sounds q-u-i-n-o-a that's exactly how it sounds right Kim q-u-i-n-o-a like a psychology right so uh so you go there and you'll see uh the list of products that are Kosher certified uh peso quinoa for by star k yes you'll see information you can get the link to the webinar that we had last year explaining how the kin was processed obviously King was not Columbus and and the star k and most of the other major American agencies as well now that it is not kittens either right most of them have have come in the light have come around or behind them and has been saying that for for 15 years right and uh at this point uh everybody agrees I'll tell you something that happened with quinoa this year is that a lot of need a certification it need certification because they could pack it in places that pack helmets they could grow it in places that grow limits they could we've seen what we've seen yeah videos they could um they could um they they put barley some sometimes on top of it when they dry it they could use bags that are used for other things there are lots of reasons why we need a special certification um the reason that it's so expensive this year has nothing to do with kosher it's expensive for for all for everybody it's expensive because there was a it's the supply and demand of it and and and this year is the year of right isn't the European market last year 2013 was the international year of quinoa year of quinoa right um and so maybe that made a difference people a lot more people are buying it so there's more demand so the farmers the indigenous farmers down there in Bolivia and Peru were by way I understand it we're holding on to the quinoa until the price would go up so that they would be able to sell it you know every bag they sell you know makes another few pennies man it's a quinoa cartel it's a big difference so uh this is a problem for the for the you know and we had again we had we had companies backing out and they weren't interested in doing it but we pushed because we know that there are people that need it and want it right and uh it's very healthy yeah it's very healthy 14 protein a year so someone actually called me yeah uh just today asking about buying bulk quinoa from one of our stores over here and I told them that well you can't get that for pesach you can certainly buy it for during the year but well you can you can get it not from yourself from our store but we have if you look at that link that I that I told you can put that link up on the on the screen you did okay uh if you look at that link you will see that we can get you can get the Balkan or 55 pound bags which is a lot of quinoa and that's really bulk and um you know you can if you live in a place where you don't have access you could divide it with a very among various people you can order uh you know large quantities of it okay and uh and do it like that they'll deliver it they deliver UPS UPS will deliver anything that you pay for it yeah okay so that's I think uh unless you have a specific question about the quinoa we'll leave that at at you know at that point um let's go down the list a little more um okay any kfp coconut oil I know that's a that's a big question about the kfp coconut oil I think I don't know of anything yes everyone should really go out on their way to buy a PESA book or something either hours or or somebody's that had a list of of products it's very helpful I think when you're shopping of course and you know if you want to know what's available right or go online or something I mean I think there's a new kosher for Passover coconut oil we don't have one I don't think you would says the wing has two parts in New York City the part attached to the body is called the drumette well that's only New York City but what does that mean available in Cloud might understand your certification does he mean that there's a part of the wing I'm not sure that's not attached to the body um I guess I think we need it yes there must be so it's not just the wing there's more to the wing than just there needs the uh yeah yeah whatever okay so we need that there is a reason why yes there's more than I stand corrected there must be more than right you got to get the part that's connected to the body the drumette the drumette not just take New York yeah I I I I imagine if you have a whole chicken you know you should be able to figure out what it is but okay um okay let's see if pecans we did sunflower seeds sunflower seeds are kidneyos um and uh and astronautic Jews do not do not eat them however this is a good segue to discuss our star as certification star s is a certification that that's special for stardom so during the year there are special stringencies that they have like on tuna which I have a can they have this has a star s it's special uh I've never seen one alive star yes it's Bishop it's a special type of cooking for even for spider um and when when it's like spicy no no no no no just uh the Jew has to turn on the oven and so on it's a special special Trinity now uh when you when you have a star s on on Passover products it will say on it it's kidney out and it's meant only for sardin who eat kidneys so we do have with satin Farms also we do have roasted sunflower seeds just for for fun it's a with a star s certification not the star k star yes hummus last year is it available this year I'm not sure okay available in your local Kosher Supermarket distributed nationally by quality of frozen foods you can get the roasted peanuts roasted pumpkin seeds roasted sunflower seeds again it's only for aspartum who eat kidneys and there is a whole list from year to here right also in our book which I think last Friday this year I can bring up relatively quickly over here um is this it no here it is star SP kidney products for aspartum only and you can see on your screen uh a list of products that are certified for sliding um here you have a whole bunch of salads you have this Frozen wow there's rice rice is a big is a big thing for sliding um so there is a whole bunch of Columbus and things there's hummus yeah who's okay whose company is that this is pikant I'm not sure I suppose it must be available in uh in local local supermarkets there's rice okay this is very important and uh people were used to relying on the side of them were used to rely on the fact that uh that the rice if it's unenriched it's okay but we found that there are some issues and therefore you're best off getting one with the certification so that is for the uh the Stars let's go back now to our original uh discussion Rabbi buyer about things I've been trying to save money together can I have the sugar please so this is Domino Sugar this is actually certified for peso all year okay and and it doesn't or it shouldn't like I don't know if it does it shouldn't cost any more than it does uh during the year and uh you know you'll find it with uh special certification a special Passover certification special runs you're really not getting anything in this this particular case this already has a passive certification why do you need to run to to uh a brand that's more expensive and for that matter you don't have to get Domino's which is a which is a brand you can actually get like uh okay you can get it okay you can get a store brand without a Passover certification on pure cane garlic and sugar that with even without a pest certification right that might be even cheap it's even cheaper okay that would be that would be something to to think about I want to point out that it's only pure cane it's only pure cane sugar as opposed to confectioners sugar which I have two examples here uh pure King pure uh this is confectioner sugar regular confectioners sugar has a flowing agent in it in the form of cornstarch cornstarch is kidneys and therefore we don't use that on peso so on on peso if you do need to buy a confectioners sugar with a special certification I notice that these two but they're interesting one of them is just pure confectioners sugar and one has the sugar tapioca starch and potato starch in it uh which I guess that I think one of them is just not labeled completely I I don't think so I think that this doesn't have anything else in it and uh and it um and this maybe helps it flow better it's an interesting uh thing but you do need to get one with it with a certification coffee is an example rather buy your unit you're the coffee man oh yeah um you can pretty much Buy we have the brands we have the brands listed that are right the issue with coffee could be that they're roasting it in Roasters that was used to roast hummus uh during that year that's a possibility so we do recommend that you get uh we're having our book The Coffee work off of the list there's a number of well-known regular brands of coffee that are available um in instant and in uh here we go I have it up here on the ground um here we have uh and the important thing to remember about coffee is that the the real issue with coffee sometimes comes up comes up with decaffeinated coffee I don't know there might be maybe one or two Brands available with decaf that are you know well known there's a senka uh decaf that does need Santa has a piece inquiries decaffeinated coffee does need to have a pee well there is one that one second if we have one here here look around my body there's one called there are a couple guys a couple but these aren't like well known bottom line is you have to make sure you go off of a list right here's the next Cafe um instant decaf which has a certification for Passover actually from Israel this is Sam Sofia which is reliable for this and um that's what you do for coffee um obviously there's no don't go to Starbucks there was something there was something with the T this year with it with the neste um decaf tea instant tea in the previous years it had been okay so but they didn't do it this year so uh that you should note that it's not it's not for uh T itself as long as I'm talking about tea yeah um Regular tea regular plain black tea uh we say you could you could buy it does not need a special culture for Passover uh certification but I think we say if it's in tea bags the tea bags do require a certification can we say that like checking the book I'm not sure um I know regular black tea we say usually it doesn't but I don't say tea bags maybe I think tea bags do need yeah herbal tea doesn't does require certification for Passover and there's a lot of that available also um I think the tea bags we say require some certification okay let's go let's go another thing that you could buy without the certification is carrots some of the carrots like the giant brand Great American even peeled people I'm sorry package baby carrots right right carrots regular carrots thank you thank you regular carrots are obviously that's not not a Passover issue but uh peeled baby carrots like giant brand Great American or bolt house I think these are pretty popular brands that just have an OU they don't require a special Passover symbol um then you have things like aluminum foil and those kind of uh things you use in the kitchen which probably is available for peso with a piece of texture but we don't require a certification and you could save money there as well okay let's go back to the questions um Rabbi buyer um okay BJ is asking same with walnuts I presume no piece is just halves no that's not true no it's just the pecans that are the problem the Walnut pieces would be okay the only problem we have with the nuts is if they're ground ground nuts will have some ground well ground nuts and also if there might be preservatives added I have somewhere here some here like this is right some ground walnuts or you have ground uh almond flour those require Passover certification because of the uh the processing it's like a flower item and we do require pesto acidification okay Costco domestic salmon that's an OU product I heard that the fish needs to be rinsed first while the wild salmon does not can you confirm yes I know what she's talking about she's talking about the Frozen I believe the frozen salmon pieces that come individually wrapped from Kirkland brand the way I understand it is is is uh not exactly the way Cindy is saying it the way we checked it out was pretty much uh the opposite that the uh the domestic salmon or the farmed I think she means we'll call it Farm the farm salmon um doesn't have any Passover problems with it and that's okay uh the wild salmon at least last year they said you have to wash it and anyway we have a problem with wild salmon anyway because of the aniseac it's the worm problem so we don't recommend wild salmon anytime during the year but I believe that the uh that the oh you was saying that the the Kirkland Frozen uh farm salmon does not have any Passover problems with it okay um Hershey's cocoa is generally more expensive than hamisha Brands than the the really interesting I didn't realize that okay at least here in New York City okay um Abe says Abe from the CRC is telling us the CRC policy that all shell pecans require Passover certifications okay so we have not yet uh so we have a little bit of a of a I suppose that it's the same issue is that the alcohol washing but our information is that it's only the pieces that have a problem um so Rabbi Ackerman is asking that he has he has uh congruence who asked if they can use the meat and poultry and have a year-round hexadection that doesn't have a right so we we just differentiate like this uh that meat and poultry that is uh all year is is by definition kosher for Passover raw military raw poultry raw meat is considered kosher for Passover except for ground meat or poultry so if you have ground sometimes they have additives in those and um or the spices or you know raw meat raw chicken that's not so Romaine raw chicken right no sauces we don't have any problem with that so that's okay did you say the pecan has a brother or okay uh interesting pecans what do we say about good now I'm confused what do we say about it if you can't pieces is not a problem no the pecan halves are a problem those are pecan pieces pick and halves are like pieces that would be a problem um could you discuss spices okay um spices do require a certification because of again the processing um we do require certification however you should know that the sometimes there's something called Curry interesting spice called Curry which is like a Indian yes so sometimes we once gave a certification on Curry as star star k because it didn't have any of the kidneyos spices in it but sometimes Curry comes as as a kidneys you could find it certified as kidneys and sometimes it's certified without kidneys and so you know you should be careful with that okay you want to mention salt salt is a good example yes exactly salt is something that you could again save a little bit of money on um this one is Red Cross salt it's oup all year round and it says on it this salt does not supply ion iodine a necessary nutrient and the iodide is is uh the problem because they have to put a carrier or something to they don't just take a drop of iodine they didn't have to put it into something and then mix everything together so the kidney is so it's a kidneys problem right but if you buy salt without iodide without uh any and then you can get that special so that you can get it without a special Passover certification um you know you may save like 50 cents which 50 cents adds up from a buyer you can put it towards yeah the artificial language is like this all brands of non-iodized salt they do not contain dextrose or polysorbates may be used if it contains sodium silicate it is not a problem and we actually have some salted certified by the star k for Passover as well um okay let's continue um she's asking about Spectrum organic coconut oils KP without special certification I'm not sure you can call our office at 410 44 4110 or email us at info at Star Dash K dot org for further clarification on that or anything else that you'd like to know about we have our busy phones this is our busiest time of the year but um please do try us and we hope to be able to help you okay uh okay back to the chicken man like drumette looks like a mini poke okay I just okay well I guess let's see there's someone who's trying to help us understand this but um I just don't think they sell the other part of it that little tip at the end there of a wing I don't think you can get those okay separately is explaining for our readers what exactly the difference is and we appreciate that explanation um he's a drum that major okay okay uh Alicia is complaining that some of the frozen vegetables that have certified are very expensive any particular tips for checking vegetables for peso do we need a separate light box okay two good questions uh on question number one check out the uh check it check out our seminar webinar that we had um uh the link was in your email that we uh that we sent to you today and yesterday um the link to that webinar I think you'll get some good good advice there about how to check on your own and you need a separate like box we do have a comment about that now lightbox is the the uh machine that you use to help you check we do we do say something about that I think it's just uh just to clean it just wipe it down just wipe it down uh because you're using it cold and and usually you don't put hummus on it um we do have I think we do have a comment about that somewhere but I'm pretty sure that it's okay just without with just just cleaning it look at that oh I thought I thought we went through all the questions around buying but not yet one second one second okay pure cane sugar we discussed that no does not need any require any certification at all um unless it's brown sugar brown sugar we require for Passover certification but pure cocaine sugar does not require any certification at all sugar in the Raw if it's just plain sugar then I don't believe that it is actually that might be like a brown it's like brown it's like a brown and sugar so the question that would be do they add anything back into it sometimes it's supposed to be not like that but we need to check it out sometimes when they make brown sugar you'd think well sugar is like sugar is naturally brown right but the funny thing is that to make the brown sugar they bleach out the the brown and then they add it back in so the question is what are they adding back in if sugar in the Raw is not adding anything back in So then that's not uh that wouldn't be a problem what K-Cups are kfp we do have some cake we have some star cake cups um um if I'm not mistaken I don't I don't recall no don't we have something maybe I know we say we don't kosher we don't culture we don't cast your chewing machines I definitely saw something you have to get a special so unless you know that your Keurig machine wasn't used for comments during the year right if you didn't use it for Columbus during the year then you don't have to catch all right well if you use it for other types you'll need to get a second one for peso right there are there are K-Cups they're the kosher Facebook I'm sorry I don't have the information technology uh handy what about the machine itself so you just answered that uh that you know it's available someone some people here in the office have um these little gadgets that you get like in the dollar stores where it's it's basically made out of plastic and it looks like a K-Cup and it functions like a K-Cup and you can add your own coffee into it and just put that in you know and use that oh really and they do that to save money on having to buy all these different K-Cups that's a great idea buyer so you can buy this little Cup right and put your own your own ground your own Maxwell House you're on ground coffee oh you oh this position ground coffee in there right and you could make your own cake up that way and save yourself some money because you Professor that's a great idea okay that fits in right in with the saving money um okay let's go back to some of our products here that uh that we discussed um is there anything else honey well here's something this is a jelly cranberry sauce um uh store brand it's a store brand and this one is a is a Jewish company brand and I didn't check the prices they do they do need a certification for Passover and they both have it uh and you know if it were me I would buy the one that's cheaper we know that I don't feel that you know there's any real uh you do need a passive certification but this has it and so I'm I'm fine with that you get these on points can you get these on point you can't get them out so then we have the honey honey is something that definitely needs a passive certification which this has why does it need Passover certificate because of the the sometimes they uh they they uh water it down with corn syrup because it's cheaper and you need to have a passive acidification that honey is expensive and if we could try to find the honey that doesn't right if you can find honey that's kosher for Passover all year round um and buy it during the year right that'll be a good thing that probably you could save some money on that um let's see what else we have over here um there we have the cell certificate please okay this is this is a this is a vintage Seltzer with um with we've checked this out it has a Passover certification actually and someone does not they don't talk it's on top okay I knew it was there somewhere um and this we've checked out the flavors and the processing of that of the of the Vintage Seltzer with the Passover certification and we're fine with it it may save a little bit on that over over a different brand the plane sensor plain Seltzer does not require any certification at all you can save money on that also just plain soda water right good good point what else do we have here that we want to discuss um okay ketchup you're kind of stuck you have to buy with your passive certification because of the uh the ingredients and that is probably or definitely going to be more expensive than than during the year um but I think we've given a good a good sampling of the different products that are available and how to how to uh bottled water by the way it doesn't need to be kosher certified right for Passover bottled water does not need to be even if it has some minerals in it right that's fine it's fine you can buy that's actually one of the most common questions we get on on color mode uh okay I'm in wherever I am they're on trips they want to buy water and we always make a mental note that we should send out that information to our alerts list so people should know that they can buy bottled water uh let's go let's go back a little bit um sugar substitutes difficult okay sugar substitutes Stevia would require kosher certification but we do have some in our book let me see if I can find that quickly book list of uh those are mostly Jewish branded products I believe uh let's see what we got let's see if I can bring this up where is it oh it's okay let's see if it's on this page sugar here we go sugar substitutes uh we do have one with a Starkey California light sucralose and then there are a couple with other certifications but they do require a Passover certification I don't think there's any way around that I do want to point out I think I brought the almond milk yeah over there where is it right there okay the almond milk over there almond milk uh this one has a Passover certification we do have listing in our book of other almond milks and soy milks that don't have a Passover certification but are acceptable if a person needs it if they are ill or a child or something like that um but really if you're looking for a milk substitute the best thing is to take something that has a certification for Passover it's absolutely this milk that is uh by Libras is is acceptable to anyone even if they're not ill so that really is much preferable over something that has some kidneys and they have something some almond milk some almond milks have in them a processed on equipment but this processed on equipment that has comments perhaps or so it has kidneys so this is really the much preferred over any of the other almond or or soy milks even if they're listed in our book which you need to if you're going to get one that's not this it needs to be one that's listed uh you know as acceptable soy milk is certainly kidneys soy milk is certainly kidneys but even then you need to have one of the brands that's listed uh right here that's what reminded me here on this page here you have the soy milks that are acceptable but uh there will be the evidence it's only for people who are ill or ill right we're allowed to right and some of them may have some hummus in it um so it's not it's not so it's not so simple um we do it just the other thing that you thought was almond milk is really uh how do you pronounce it seriously serious uh 100 juice is star KP all year right in all juices by the way need to be kosher or pasta except uh what do we say it's frozen we do say frozen frozen orange juice orange fruits concentrate juice right thank you frozen apple juice and orange juice do not need to be so kosher for Passover so you can save a little money that way too just get the regular if you're willing to lower your standards and drink from concentrate juice there are some we do have some information about that let me see if I can bring it up here uh the juice here Frozen any 100 pure white grapefruit or frozen or orange without sweeteners added it's preservative or enrichments may be used all other Frozen juice products require a reliable kfb Apple certification because I take that back then you said Apple I said Apple no the Apple app was not on the list grapefruit that's why you can't tune out of this webinar because completely I mean the listeners if they stop they may not hear our Corrections because we come back okay um how many buyer I would never accuse you of tuning out um let's let's look let's see um uh Costco has honey with oup three pack whoa that should be good that may be that may be a good price Ben Ben Ben is suggesting that that's a good thing okay I mean you know sometimes shopping at at large warehouses to save money I mean I I do that I'm sure a lot of people do that but uh the the the the the peso selection there is usually limited but that's a good that's a good find Ben thank you uh do flax seeds or chia seeds need kfp okay so there's a difference okay flax sees uh we say is okay according to start okay you can buy them preferably from a processor that doesn't process a kidneys or hummus you should look into that we don't certify any and then you should check it through to make sure it hasn't got anything else besides Flex the Chia we have not taken a definitive position whether or not Chia is kidneys or it isn't kidneys I know there are other organizations that have but we we have not so we don't recommend that okay he's saying that the hofke says salsa requires certification I'm not sure what why that would be I'd be interested um okay and we did get to the bottom of our chat right buyer amazing okay um and I think we've been here at it for about an hour everybody almost feels like it we did have uh people from all over I always like to do this let me see where people are joining us from okay mostly in the United States we do have some for uh um in Spain okay that's neat that's Alba okay a good friend we do have some people in there to Israel so I'm in Canada and um it actually tells us most people are joining us on on the PC uh we do have a couple people it seems about using the the other phones and and Technology you can join us by uh you know using your phone or because from South Africa But realize it's useless because most of those products that are European that's a good point and that and we do make that disclaimer a number of times in the book um that the products that we we're recommending are domestically North American domestically produced let's say I I put together the pet food list we can't believe that that out Talk About Pets a whole hour without paying unbelievable so um that list is available in in our book also for No Charge um and um and that there could be a difference between the products that manufactured in the United States absolutely let's say people call us from Israel and I say well if you're from Israel you're getting from uh from um from Europe Europe right Europe and it's the same brand same brand same products are a different products they're made in Europe and maybe they have a different formulation maybe it's the same formulation I don't know and you have to look into that everyone in their own country is that I will tell you this this is what I I um I mentioned to someone else that I went to Petco as part of my yearly um my yearly investigation into the pet foods and I explained to them when I come in what am I doing at Petco for you know the hours and I'm there checking the labels and I don't want them to think that I worked worked for PetSmart you know I'm coming in to see the competition it looks funny that you know you look like it the rabbi's coming in and looking at all the labels you know not buying anything smart so I always explain to them what I'm doing I'm there to check out for the Passover list so this year that one of the workers said oh I know the Passover list I said you do he said yeah we have it already I said well I don't know anything you have it already because I didn't come out yet so I don't think that you could have it because I'm here last year's list I said you must mean last year's list wow um he couldn't have meant from some other organization because many other organizations use our list and we allow them to to take a pet Grandma um I always say I'm right behind him is pet Rabbi so um we allow them to use our list and to go ahead and take the information we don't mind uh this to disseminate it and so I said I don't think that you have the list maybe you have last year's but you could you couldn't have this year's um thank you very much for
