as a leader the building block that you need for a successful project is dedication and I think what left my father to be so successful in his leadership was his dedication to the community and especially to the Lebanese Community his dedication stemmed from being a child in Lebanon working with his aunt as an adant an accessory to his aunt kishik who was able to spy on Israel was D dation dedication to his family dedication to his profession I would call him an innovator because he's always finding ways to make things better and if the system doesn't exist he'll create it life is evolving he's not stuck in the past he's always moving forward he's genuine he's giving with his time he's a true as they say he gives without really wanting to get anything in return I would say committed he very committed to any anything he believes in charity Community [Music] congregations my father was born in Lebanon from there he was trained so to speak with under my grandfather to help the community and I think from then he wanted to do medicine to do medicine in Lebanon as a Jew was a very difficult task he trained in France he took his values that Lebanon cultivated him with and he was even a leader back then from there there he went back to Beirut found it to be more probably prudent to leave Lebanon at that juncture he remembered that he had a friend Nathan hon who was working for Safra and he was in New York so that's where you're going to go they actually applied for visa after the Visa they were able to start requesting his parents to come so slowly they got them out of Beirut at that juncture he set up shop in uh Brooklyn New York his leadership history so to speak started uh in France also involved in many things in Beirut since then he came to New York Marvin and n Dean and the leadership of a the mtans they took him in and n Dean was I think he claims him to be his mentor became vice president under Marvin azra at the time the Lebanese Community wanted them to create another Lebanese uh Sho so they took him out and he went all over the world to make sure that everybody knew about the Sho that it had ties to the culture and to the traditions of Lebanon and uh next thing you know SSC was built we're growing up him being busy with the community being busy as a doctor we just thought that was normal it was expected we were all involved and I thought every household was like that but it wasn't until much older that I realized how much he gave and how committed he was our home was always open we had lots of people coming in and out rabbis every week for Shabbat our table was filled every week our house is always open growing up we were lucky to have parents like ours uh my mother was always prepared for whatever came through the door my father would come home from Shore with people it didn't matter what time it was my mother was always ready with a with an open door and food on the table he was always helping the community both medically and IND the school but I think that the Lebanese Community is far better off with 26 years of his leadership I think that's what the legacy is all about it's about giving back to others it's about helping others it's about helping those that are needer than you I'm very lucky to have my father-in-law as my father-in-law he has been consistent in everything that he does I have one son and I hope that he'll be even 50% of what my father Ando is the traits that I take on to show my children is passion to get you through what it takes to complete a project is something that he emulates and that's is something that I want my children to do [Music] it's very fitting for my father to be honored in this organization Rabbi semi cassen he himself has been a true leader for the entire Safar Community he's built leaders rabinal leaders to be able to pick up from Israel from the Shar Center learn what it takes to be a rabbi and go all over the world anywhere in the world I think that my father emulates that same type of leader leadership that it takes and I think that when Rabbi Samy called us said we want to honor your father for his leadership ability I think it was just a perfect fit dad I want to thank you for giving us the building blocks to become strong leaders I appreciate everything you did for us and our family I'll never forget the the dedication in treating my mother when she was sick and uh it's a lesson for all of us we love you grandkids look up to you I thank Hashem every day for you to be my father dad I love you you're a huge inspiration and I so lucky that I get to learn from you every single day Pat I just want to tell you thank you I love what you taught us you and Mom I learned so much from you I learned what it is to really give give give to your other heal to your community and to your children I really want to thank you for everything that you've done for us growing up and even now thanks P for being there for us we're so lucky to have you as a father [Music]
