there's an expression in education tell me I forget show me I remember involves me I understand the irony is that having a lived experience actually enhances the ability to understand at a later point but you can't reverse it it doesn't work the other way it's understanding doesn't bring to an objective experience the objective experience brings you to a greater sensitivity for understanding in other words what I'm saying is if you come here and you have an experience you see a room packed full of people that itself is an experience and there's the music and there's the dancing and some guy speaks and it doesn't matter what he said what matters is the emotional energy in the room the experience you're not going to forget this you're not going to forget this and your kids won't forget this
