Day #70–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

Barak Hashem today is day number 70 of our daily study of rambam seifarimitz is this corresponds to the three chapters a day of mishna Torah chapters uh two three and four of Jose's which are laws of marriage matrimony and uh correspondingly we are studying a marriage related related law in fact we studied this yesterday as well it's based on the verse in aleph or Deuteronomy 24 1 when a man will acquire a wife we spoke about this yesterday that this is called kedoshin or betrothal it's the first stage of marriage it used to be done at a different time sort of uh almost like what we would call an engagement and then later sometimes uh with the custom was to do it 12 months later they would do the actual marriage we don't do that anymore that way we do kidushin and necessian under the uh one right after the other so there is no in-between stage uh the only thing that we do in between the condition and the Syrian is we have somebody ceremonially read the marriage document the Suba um it's important to note that once a couple enters into condition this Union can only be dissolved either God forbid by the passing of one of the parties or through a halachic divorce known as a get which we will speak about uh God willing as we continue to study laws pertaining to Jewish Family Life and marriage we'll see you tomorrow God willing
