is day number 34 of our daily study around them say from Mitzvahs and in the three chapters the day of mission of Toyota we're finishing the laws of blessings uh there's just two chapters left chapters 10 and 11. so uh we're gonna repeat again the Mitzvah the one biblical Commandment that corresponds to the laws of blessings we've been saying this for a few days we're going to say it again today positive commandment number 19 the grace after meals after you have eaten and eaten and been satiated you will bless the Lord your God and then we have uh three chapters to study so we've we only have two chapters left of the laws of blessing so what are we going to do we're going to start the first chapter of the next set of halachas what is that the laws of circumcision and correspondingly we have one biblical commandment there's just one biblical commandment which corresponds to the laws of circumcision and that is here let me introduce it properly positive commandment number 215 the Mitzvah of Mila of brismila the Covenant of circumcision and this is based on the verse which describes hashem's commandment to avraham our patriarch Abraham that every male among you will be circumcised and as the ramam notes in Safra Mitzvahs this is a positive commandment which it's very unusual in fact there's only two positive Commandments like this where the failure to perform this positive commandment incurs the penalty known as korres may God protect us it's the cutting off of the Soul and normally that's a punishment for a violation of a Prohibition but if there are two positive Commandments I'll let you I'm going to keep it a secret what the other one is you know to keep it exciting and you'll have to keep learning until you'll find out what that other one is but one of them is is brismila and uh when would that kick in when would it be considered that the person has failed to perform this positive commitment well initially the the Mitzvah belongs to the father when a male child is born the Mitzvah belongs to the father if the father fails to perform the Mitzvah then once the child is of majority age meaning Bar Mitzvah 13 years old it becomes the child's or now adults own uh obligation and if he passes away without ever having performed the Mitzvah then he would be liable for the punishment of quotas God forbid at any rate uh we're going to be learning this Mitzvah again tomorrow so we'll talk a little bit more about it again tomorrow God willing see you then
