Day #29–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

is day number 29 of our daily study that I'm saving Mitzvahs and in our daily study of three chapters of mishna Toyota we are finishing the laws of villain mezuzah and safer Torah and what do we have left because we've covered villain two different myths of Phil and head and and we did um and we did say for Toyota so what do we have left because we're finishing these these now um we want to know what it is here we go positive commandment number 17 the Mitzvah incumbent upon a king this is for a king to have to write and to have an additional Taurus scroll in addition to what we learned yesterday remember when we learned positive commitment number 18 yesterday which was that every Jewish male is supposed to have his own Torah scroll uh now we have positive commandment number 17 which is that the Jewish King is supposed to have one in addition to have his own and that he is supposed to have it with him at all times except obviously when he enters any places where we're not allowed to bring a Torah scroll but at all other times he is supposed to have it with him when he goes out to war when he comes back from War when he's sitting and judging the people when when even when he's eating he's supposed to have it in front of him in order to keep him focused on his duty to Hashem and that is a Mitzvah that most of us will not personally fulfill because uh we're not Kings but uh at least hola quickly you're a metaphoric King but uh literally we're not Kings but we had Mitzvahs like birkus kahanam a few days ago right so the blessing of the the priests that's not a Mitzvah that we all do the the priests do that blessing so there are some Mitzvahs that are incumbent upon individuals or groups but they're also uh Commandments and this is one of them okay we will see you tomorrow we're starting a new section of halachus tomorrow we're going to have a whole new Mitzvah tomorrow totally new subject we'll see you tomorrow God willing
