Day #148–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

is day number 148 of our daily study of ramam save and in the three chapters today of missionary we just finished yesterday safer Israel the book of agricultural laws and we started say for Aveda the laws pertaining to the Holy Temple and we are in hilge Space the laws of the chosen house meaning of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem specifically chapters 2 3 and 4. corresponding to those chapters the content of those chapters we are learning the following Mitzvahs negative commandment 79 the prohibition against building the altar the altar is where the sacrifices were burnt in the temple so prohibition against building the altar with stones that were touched by iron you know how you cut stones Well normally with iron it's called the hewing the stones but uh no you're not allowed to do that for the stones of the altar and in fact if such Stones were used then the altar is invalid and it will not affect the atonement or the sacrifices brought thereon will not affect atonement it's invalid for sacrificial use negative commandment 80. the prohibition against ascending said altar by way of stairs well how are you supposed to get up there supposed to jump no a ramp why a ramp why not stairs it's more modest so you don't have to take not you but the kahin who is serving doesn't have to take big strides with a ramp he can walk more delicately and uh it's more humble okay um that is that's what we have for today we will see you tomorrow again God willing for more Holy Temple related mitzvahs
