Day #126–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

today is day number 126 of our daily studies in the three chapters a day of mishna Toyota we're starting a new section of halacha uh we finished the agricultural gifts to the poor yesterday and now we're starting through mice all about truma truma is uh another type of agricultural gift all the misters that we're learning in this book which is called safer Israel the book of seeds literally are going to be agricultural mitzvahs the the plural term is used and actually interesting we're going to learn about two different types of truma today here we go positive commandment 126 is the Commandment to take to remove set aside the truma truma is a gift it's an agricultural gift it's given specifically to a kahen to a member of the Priestly class and it's not a tithe a tithe means literally a tenth it's much smaller it's either a 60th or a 50th or a 40th those are the amounts that are set if somebody's very poor then he only has to give a 60th the average person gives a 50th somebody who wants to be generous can give a 40th what is that uh 40th would be 2.5 percent I think that's right okay um so that's the first Mitzvah today to take off that a portion of the of the produce which is just a couple percent and to give it to the kohen all right then we have positive commandment 129 which is the Commandment for the levium to give truma from their Miser all right so now we have a couple Concepts here that we have to explain my sir means the tenth and we haven't learned about that yet but that's a portion which is a tenth it's given a portion of the produce that's given to the levium and they have to take off a portion of the gift that was given to them and in turn give it to the koihen and this portion is called my sir minha maiser the tithe that comes from the tithe or it's called trumas Miser the through my gift that comes from my sir and it's a tenth so the lady receives a tenth from the regular Jews produce and then the levy takes a tenth from that and and he gives it to the kohen okay so those are our two Mitzvahs today we're going to be continuing tomorrow with more mitzvah's corresponding to the laws of turuma we'll see you then God willing
