Day #102–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

is day number 102 of our daily study of ramam's say for a Mitzvahs and we are in the three chapters today of mishna Toda on chapter six seven and eight of the laws of ritual Slaughter we have again just one Mitzvah today a positive commandment of covering blood what does that mean it means that when one does shrita ritual Slaughter it is a Mitzvah if the animal being slaughtered is a bird kosher bird uh we had the Mitzvah before about eating kosher birds or a Haya I should Define what is as opposed to a behemoth behema is usually what they call livestock for instance cows sheep goats okay that's a behemoth Aya is a wild animal a kosher mammal but it's a wild one like for instance a deer which is kosher people don't realize very often that deer are Kosher but they are okay so if one Slaughters either a bird or a higher for kosher consumption it is a Mitzvah to cover the blood that spills from the slaughter and many people are familiar with this firsthand at the capotus ritual on erivium Kipper where you pay a professional to perform the shrita but because only an expert can do that but then uh he will often give you the honor of doing the Mitzvah of covering the blood usually they provide sawdust or some type of uh dirt that is used to cover up the blood and there's a bracha actually that's made when you do it offer okay that is our Mitzvah today and we will see you again God willing tomorrow
