Day #100–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

today is day number 100 of our daily study of rambam severe mitsus we're in triple digits now amazing um we are finishing today in the three chapters a day of mission those are laws of forbidden foods and we're starting another subject which is food related which is the laws of ritual Slaughter Okay so um corresponding to the last forbidden Foods we have negative commandment 193 uh the prohibition against eating vegetables or grains grown in a Vineyard this is the uh prohibition against kilayim which means a mixture of uh different types of vegetation and this is prohibited in the land of Israel in the land of Israel only Okay negative commandment 153 the prohibition against eating untized produce that means where The Miser the tithe the tenth was not removed for the levy now I just want to mention that we're in the book of kadusha which is dealing with these subjects of prohibitions later on when we get to the book of zroyum then we'll actually learn about how to adhere to these uh agricultural Mitzvahs so that we don't create these problems in the first place but right now in this context we're just talking about the prohibition against eating it so each Mitzvah has its context has its place Okay negative commandment 194 this is the final cautious related Mitzvah that we have corresponding and that is the prohibition against idolatrous Libations what we call wine that was handled by an idol worshiper for his Idol and then of course we have the accompanying rabbinic Safeguard of stamyanam wine that may not have been used for idol worship but there is a reasonable concern that that it may have been okay um now we're getting into the laws of srita so we have positive commandment 146 which is the positive commandment of to slaughter an animal properly and like it says in uh the volume aleph Deuteronomy 21 12. it says and you should slaughterha from your cattle and your sheep that Hashem is giving you cash as he has commanded you and of course famously it is known that nowhere in the written Torah does it actually describe how to perform ritual Slaughter so the fact that the verse says in the manner that God commanded you tells us that there is an accompanying oral law that fills in information that is not explicitly given in the written law okay those are our Mitzvahs today we will see you again God willing tomorrow
