closer to the 3,000 range what does that mean just by birs alone over 10 that if that level was just same stayed the same over a 10year period that would account for a 30 30,000 person increase in Pop I would like to solve this problem right now by offering your name I would like to solve the problem right now but offering pay double what what the first people Peter Bri so if anyone had change of 50 I [Applause] would as the plan explain as the planner explain SM gr is obviously a term that is is place um to develop the to um combat the braw and it cost ReStore Community Vitality C CI we heard all the Babel of what smart growth is all I really have to say is you know I I would like to see it actually implemented um we know that true smart growth is the direct development towards existing Community already served by infrastructure because it's more cost effective and it actually helps stop light and the deterioration of neighborhoods a perfect example of true smart growth is um queenan apartments on First Street across from the bus station that is a beauti example of smart grow they took a dilapidated old um I don't know what it was old construction left empty and they turned it into beautiful apartment walking distance to shopping right across the street from a bus station for who who I don't know I wasn't there I didn't I didn't apply for an apartment but please pleas please let the speak en all know to the community and that is a beautiful uh being smart unfortunately see that a lot of the developers that are going to be involved in this I cannot say that I've ever seen them build one attractive Community all the communities that they build to me are what I would call orthop which means they try to fit in as much as they can and as little space as they possibly can theel will tell you that they're going to be creating smart growth neighborhoods of shopping included that in itself is not going to be smart growth creating a new shopping district and abandoning an old shopping district which I must say that I'm involved in obviously so that's why I'm picking this up um is going to just leave one old area as a plum and is going to make a new a new area uh they stay their on 600,000 ft of shopping they haven't been able to fill up the downtown area with normal stores in 30 years really professional all over agree that the commercial Market is going to be suffering for many many years to come so to build 600 square 600,000 ft of shopping is responsible um now first of all many towns have Implement smart grow first thing that they do is they put moratorium on all future development so they figure out what the but unfortunately our town is different our town has uh an exploding community and for me or anybody here to tell somebody who has children that they can't live in their town that they were born in is [Applause] [Music] not $20 at beginning buy it um we have a problem we have deteriorating neighborhoods and we have this need to build more so what I'm proposing that this lb is different and we cannot have a moratorium we need a balance we need to make a facelift we have to to make our community bigger but we also have to solve the problem that we have and I'll give an example if a person needs to go get classtic surgery they go to the doctor the doctor checks their heart and you see that they have a problem the person has Parts the doctor say you know what I can't give you plastic surgery you have part we have to first deal with the heart disease of our to we have to deal with the downtown situation we have to deal with deestroy and then we can deal with the [Applause] rest to hear the rest thank you Mr mayor council committee and St my name is Joseph C I live around the corner of Somerset at East County Line Road I represent the largest school in town of over 3,200 children we need I'll say it again we need open air space we need a place for the children I pass by this school daily I am so jealous of how it's so spread out and so much SP field ball fields beautiful buildings we need to move out of the heart of Lakewood and expand the smart grad Transportation the buses it's not an issue I see hundreds of buses going past my house daily I love it look at all those daa sweet Kindel all those little kids smiling at the window going why would anybody want not to have this in their neighborhood such knock of seeing all these kids going off to school every morning how can we not vote for smart plan I wish it a lot of luck and I hope everybody understands the necessity of moving out of the heart of the Town expanding his Horizon making more homes and schools for the children and residents of our town like to thank Stan I'm amazed at how we kept 1500 people quiet and transformed at what he was saying D looking for teaching job your h
