we're back here at the huzzah telethon
and we are so so close nine hundred and
fifty four thousand three hundred and
seventy nine that is the number four
right this minute and this number is
changing by bit in a minute
and we need you guys to make that pledge
right now every dollar gets tripled
so everything it right now gets triple
and we need to hit that goal 1 million
literally in the next half an hour we
need you guys to come through right now
is the time and right now is when you
can change a life and it's not just
changing the life of a young man who's
moving from public school to yeshiva
it's it's changing his life and also his
future his children his grandchildren
and generations to come so you will have
this hope the merit to be part of that
by making that a nation today right now
go to you know it is it's huzzah huzzah
huzzah calm and that's where you can
make that donation
ok we're privileged to have with us
right now is empowerment Lord Amina
right that's right simpler man who is
rapping at Fatah that's right and the
tocqueville incredible organization work
with special needs children all around
New York area and I think even beyond
all over the country and so some has
been bubble so with Zach as well he
lives in Queens and welcome simcha
through the Kazakh telephone yeah it's
incredible it's incredible I wish they
could see that's like a hive of so wait
so where's your camera but you can look
at me okay
so it's a hive of activity people are on
the phones are making a difference
they're calling and they're getting
people active and the cause the real
important cause because what why is it
an important cause there's so many
causes out there and everybody gets
bombarded every day with this cause and
that cause maybe cause
right why should they give to Plaza why
should we hit the million Zach needs hit
the 1.3 million dollar mark and we're
getting close
we're getting close because I I wanted
to educate myself about a year ago a
year amp ago and I started talking with
you I need I started talking about rugby
lon
and I wanted to know what to talk about
and like a lot of people I thought pisaq
was the speakers Kazak was a magazine
what was a Zonk and I sat down with Ravi
lon and Ravi line showed me a video and
I just couldn't believe it it took me
back to when I was in public school they
were boys fighting there are boys
meeting each other you know with their
fists with the club with anything it was
it was just unlike anything I'd see and
he said this is a regular afternoon for
boys this is what they're doing boys and
girls they're doing all sorts of
activities and I went to the power
meeting and there intermarry
there they're doing drugs some of them
are overdosing I got to go to J wave I
saw what they're doing sitting with
their BAM we're gonna keep on wearing
since this learning holidays
learning tour learn English the Mishnah
it's a complete transformation that's
going on for these kids I thought this
is amazing this is amazing and it's an
investment cause it's right here in
Queens it's right here in Queens it's in
our backyard
we're in Kew Gardens I don't know if you
know anything in Queens watching here
but it's Q guard Miller's the right next
door is bar sales and these are our
neighbors
this improves our community this helps
our community yeah like you said it's
going to help their families it's gonna
help their children it's going to help
their wives hopefully they'll marry
Jewish women
and it's a real it's a real threat
because we're at second-generation so he
said something very interesting because
you know like when you sit down here I
didn't think I was talking to somebody
who came from the public so yeah yeah so
this is very interesting
yeah so tell me a little bit about that
okay so I mean it's apples to you know
to rocks at this point I mean there were
no cell phones there was no YouTube
there's no Twitter Dyke map 1992 when I
was in when I was in public school in
middle school but even then coming from
a kosher home going from a religious
home it was a complete culture shock
half my school was Jewish what why did
it pass any book - well in school it was
a matter it was a matter of not finding
the right fit for for your Sheila school
it was a matter of funds at the time it
was during the recession like so funds
one of the very big things she was a
very you know a very expensive there's
situations where they Shiva says listen
you know I mean we got it we got to pay
that our babe and this is what it is
because that's a public school so there
so I would so so I'm saying and again my
parents did the right thing and I grew
up in a wonderful home I'm a religious
state because of my community I'm
religious day because of my parents and
my brothers it was a culture shock
though I mean these were kids who they
just I mean they weren't I wasn't eating
kosher they weren't they weren't keeping
Shabbos right and these are other Jewish
kids and and then you had the newer kids
who weren't Jewish one Jewish and just
their values and it was a culture shock
I mean I I remember having a dress code
in English Evo writing a coward shirt
kids are wearing shorts kids are wearing
short sleeve shirts and just the way the
kids are behaving and but I also
understand that there's a draw to public
school a lot of people think that the
education is better there's there's
there's a lot of teams there's a lot of
activities there's a lot of things that
that a public school can offer that a
Sheila just can't offer but they're
showing that ueshiba can offer that a
public school can and that is an
opportunity to continue a Jewish
education it's not enough to go to
Sunday Sports not enough to belong to a
show like it's not enough in this day
and age like that Sunday school is the
first step but then it takes back
whether right Kazak does it's like soup
to nuts they have programs for people
who are only ready to send their kids
for Sunday's for Sunday's and they have
programs for after school and they have
a base mattress they have a kollel and
they're helping entire families I met
some just incredible people who came
from nothing and now they're Roubaix him
there and
at kazakh at the J weight program and I
think a lot of people are afraid of
their kids are not going to get into
good schools they're really afraid of
that that somehow they go to a Sheila
they're going to go to you Sheila it's
not the same education in the textbook
in yeshiva it's the same textbook and
the she was that Fazekas is I mean
there's a very very talented guy I'm
sure you you interviewed him he works
very very hard to go and find the right
food he's not trying to go and put a
square peg in a round hole or an octagon
into a hexagon he's trying to find what
shape the child is and what school
they're gonna folk they're going to go
they're saying them the schools that
have accomplished secular education and
E and these colleges school can go to
regular ecology I've worked it and I've
worked in I've worked in to achieve that
right now I work I work in batako-san
MTA MTA is is a Jewish school kids are
going to the same exact College is that
kids are coming from far so high school
kids are going to you know all the
colleges that you know whether it's
Queens or Yale or two
or Columbia they're getting into the
same place of the game the same dental
programs law programs it's not been an
impediment if you've been to the
religious Jewish community and I suspect
you have right all walks of life there's
Reb a.m. and their people in Co well and
there are counties there are people who
own stores there are lawyers and
daughters that have been actuaries right
and it's it's I think I think that's the
thing that we need to be help
communicate also you're not holding your
child back you're springing them forward
with especially with the Jewish
education and and Kozik actually
communicates that to very well yes and
they do really well did these open
houses which are incredible that they
shop they bring the schools to the kids
and then the kids the parents they you
know make a make a up they they
they get comfortable with with what the
school is what the people are I think
it's just incredible very comprehensive
what they do and when I saw that when I
met Robbie lon and I you know saw I
don't know if any of the rooms big
enough to hold yeah needs energy his
energy is just intense he wants the help
you know beautiful and so I am so I'm
trying to help out I'm just trying to
help down and hopefully other people
that you are in those community will see
that it's it's it's a viable important
local very relevant sort of sort of sort
of organization
we all join it hopefully you definitely
definitely help me thank you so much
that love was stopping Weiser and and
the fact is that you know what what what
you said is so important I mean you know
it seems if I came from that background
sometimes been in in public school yeah
and I see what's on the other side and
this is going back so many years ago
yeah the situation is so much worse than
school and you know for people think
that oh maybe if you didn't those public
schools won't get into college we see
that in the Jewish community yes we see
all the lawyers and doctors and
actuaries like you said everything and
everything it could be anything
businessmen that are doing really well
and a pillars and leaders in their
communities really came from that public
school and moved on to Shiva and were
able to accomplish and reach their
dreams and goals and beyond and that is
what Kazak does and thank you for making
that point it's a very important point
because some people have a fear of that
and what will happen if they go to Shiva
Kazak helps them understand
not only will they will get their their
spirituality and be connected to Judaism
but as far as the secular studies as far
as living in the real world they still
be able to do it just as well sometimes
even better and if they've gone to
purposely absolutely oh yeah and also
because I think we can both agree that
community sets you forward and
connections and becoming part of a
larger Jewish community and making those
connections networking is also a very
bad place is either in Shore yeah yes I
mean yeah the biggest connections happen
that's how the biggest business deals
you know building and I always been
there absolutely but yeah definitely
when someone becomes part let's say
someone's they're part of a more there's
a there's a large community that even
without Publix even without being part
of a shul or Jewish school they do have
a community but there's a much larger
community out there that they're dipping
into and I think that also people forget
the bet that definitely does help you
help your potential and becoming what
you want in finding a job an internship
all sorts of things and these schools
ycq is one of the school apart a little
cut up like yzq is very very dedicated
to giving a secular education and we
spoke to some kids actually here on this
program that weren't public school and
their initiative yeah and and you see
these kids it's amazing and you see not
only potential but they're them actually
realizing that potential right and
that's what it's about
anyway thanks so so much for stopping by
always and continue your incredible work
at epitaph yeah and what you're doing
for special needs children um and for
you guys out there please make of the
nation's now we almost had a million we
right now it's nine hundred and sixty
four thousand three
three and that means that we I'm not I'm
not a math guy but we're looking at
basically another help me out here yeah
yeah like another 50 another another
forty oh yeah thirty thirty four
thousand thirty five thousand yeah
something that yeah we'll figure it out
the numbers are very close we needed to
right now make that pledge and
everything change your life everything
every dollar counts and every dollar is
tripled
so one dollars four dollars hundred
dollars is 400 alright thank you so much
thank you very much
