Stand By You | Shulem

JCCGCI Presents: Stand By You In a world where battles are often fought in silence, it’s important to remember that no one should have to walk through the shadows alone. “Stand By You” honors the unbreakable strength of Holocaust survivors—a testament to their courage, resilience, and enduring spirit. Their stories remind us of the power of survival and the will to keep moving forward, no matter the darkness they have faced. As we stand with them, we recognize the light they continue to shine, offering wisdom, hope, and inspiration to the world. As of early 2025, there are about 10,000 Holocaust survivors in New York City. After all they’ve endured, it’s crucial to ensure they have everything they need. JCCGCI is dedicated to looking after them, providing essential services and support. If you know a survivor, take a moment to reach out—say hello, give them a call, or take them for a walk. A simple act of kindness can bring a smile to their face—and yours. Lyrics: When the world has turned to darkness, When the world has taken away everything you know, When your eyes are filled with sadness, Nowhere to turn to… and hearts have turned to stone. When the world’s an endless question, And all of the answers have vanished in the flames, I’ll be here with love and consolation, Giving you hope to face the world again. I’ll be your hand to hold, I’ll be your eyes to see, I’ll be strong—everything you need. Gonna stand by you, Gonna stand by you, Gonna bring a piece of heaven, A star to light your way. If you stumble and fall, There through it all, I will stay. Gonna stand by you, Gonna stand by you, Gonna bring a piece of heaven, A star to be your guide. Doesn’t matter at all, There through it all, By your side. Gonna stand by you. When the whole world has forgotten, When the stolen years have turned to faded memories, When your steps are few and broken, You’re still a light for those who choose to see. Though you’re battle-scarred and weary, An unsung hero in shades of black and white, You are a legacy of courage— For you, we rise and celebrate your life!
