we have with us it's even a shame that it took so long because he retired quite a few years ago we have with us a friend a police officer a detective a father a husband a phenomenal human being someone that said what he meant he meant what he said and there was no games with him someone that his phone was always on whether he was on vacation day or night 24/7 is is an understatement detective Vinnie martinos has been [Applause] serving has been serving the city for about 30 years give take and most of it 28 years I believe or 26 of it was here in Crown Heights personifying courtesy professionalism and respect a person that was able to relate to all community within the confines of the 71st Precinct and within each Community to each and every Community member walk around Heights people would even say his first name without saying detective because they felt he was their friend whether they knew him or they didn't know him everybody knew who detective Vinnie is in October of 2019 detective Martinez received a very prominent reward the chief Brennan reward which is not given to every single person I got invited to that and it was uh I had the Merit to attend and I noticed that it rained just like tonight it rained and it wasn't comfortable but everybody was happy to be there and it struck me why why is it raining you know and I thought I'm not I'm not a prophet or anything but a thought is a thought and detective martinos knew how to walk in Between The Raindrops he knew how to relate to every single person he knew how to tell everybody what they need to hear what they should hear and not only what they wanted to hear he did it with Grace with dignity and humility so without further Ado it's a great honor for ground height sh on behalf of the ground Heights Community to pull up detective martinos to receive this [Applause] award when I was first 71 I was I met everybody controls he really helped into my career and even today I still sh I still de uh I lot of friends in this room and it all comes about the community uh I never went by titles so when I was in the street and everybody said PNY that's I want to be know PNY because this community I served was my neighborhood I Liv here just as and I really appreciate all the support not only the community gave the but what I was able to do the to get back to the community so thank you
