In the seventh aliyah we find that a
kohen gadol would need to have perisha.
He needs to be separated for at least
seven days prior to the commencement of
him starting the avodah. The question
is, why seven days? The simple answer
one could say is seven days represents a
week. When a person is able to be by
themself for an entire week, that means
every single day the person person was
able to ponder, what did I do this day
that I could have done better? What is
it that I did this day that I could do
better? And if a person thinks to
themself how it is they can make the
world a better place, then they're ready
to serve Hashem. So we were thinking
that's why the kohen gadol needed the
seven days for him to be able to sit and
reflect and recalibrate himself to be
able to say, what can I do for the next
time,
the next day of this upcoming week that
will make it a better day and hopefully
a better life for myself as well. This
is a very powerful lesson for every
single one of us also.
