Shnayim Yomi - Shemini - Sheni - #2 - Rabbi Yosef Palacci - Blessing and Atonement

We are on Parshat Shemini, Aliyah Sheniyah. So now we're talking that Aaron is finally he's giving the korbanot and everybody is waiting for the fire to come down. And uh he as he comes down he approaches the people and he gives them for the first time Birkat Kohanim. You know that everyone is excited about Birkat Kohanim. By the way, the Ashkenazis they do it only on Yom Tov. We do it as far as I know they do it every day. You know there was rabbonim that I know Ashkenazi rabbonim they would go to the Sephardic shuls just to hear the Birkat Kohanim. That's how that's how excited and when did it first start? It started by Aliyah Sheniyah by Parshat Shemini. He came down he was so excited he gave them Birkat Kohanim right when he finished the giving the korbanot. Now the thing was the fire was supposed to come down and everybody was waiting. Where's the fire? Moshe and Aaron they come in they're like what's going on? Wait the fire is supposed to come down. Didn't it come down from Shamayim? Where's my miracle? Where's where's where's the fire from Shamayim? They go back in the Mishkan they pray and they pray and they pray. Well they all have please Hashem please we're begging you. They all had all of a sudden after their prayers Hashem brings down the fire. Korbanot the korbanot that was on his back was starting to burn and now all Bnei Yisrael they were so happy. It brought down it was the big one of the biggest simcha that they had ever since leaving Egypt. They were after the Yam Suf this was the biggest simcha. Why? You say why? Because a person when he knows he got forgiven from sins he feels so good. He feels wow. And this is what was the intention right now when Hashem brought that fire down they know they got forgiven for the sin the greatest sin of Het Ha'Egel and that's what the simcha was about. Not the simcha was Hashem was we're forgiven. That's why it says what's the greatest days of Yom Tov that we have or the greatest days ever, that is the day of Yom Kippur. It's at the end of the Gamara says what's the greatest days? It says Tu B'Av also. But Yom Kippur and everyone why is Yom Kippur the greatest day? You know why one of the reasons that the greatest day is is because we were forgiven, we get cleansed, we get pure, and we come to Hashem Hashem we make teshuvah. Forgive us for our sins. We feel so bad. We'll never do it again IN OUR LIVES. HASHEM FORGIVE US. Comes the day of Yom Kippur Hashem says, I forgive you. You made full teshuvah. You accepted that you'll never do the sins again, and you repented, you regretted it. Forgiven. And this is the greatest simcha that we had. Aaron and Moshe pray. Hashem sends the fire, and all of Israel sees they were forgiven for their transgression.
