In the seventh aliyah of this week's para, we have the famous expression, we will do, we will accept to do the Torah and we will understand it. This is a famous merit for the Jewish people. And the Gar tells us that for saying these two words, every Jew received a crown, one for one for nish, every Jew received two crowns in total. Now one would think that a greater sign of commitment than is we will do without saying that we will understand it. Even if we don't ever understand it, we will do it. Why do we get crowns only when we said whereas we said before that in an earlier day in we do not get crowns for that. Why is greater than than simply we will do? My father explains that we need to understand that when Hashem is offering us the Torah, he's not just telling us ways to act and practices that we do and with which we behave, but also that we are building a relationship with him. Hashem wants us to understand the Torah. Hashem wants us to come to deeper and deeper levels of in the Torah and in the mitzvah so that we become closer and closer to him and we build an ever growing relationship with Hashem. And so therefore more than we will do as a sign of commitment is because we are committed to understanding as much as we possibly can through the Torah and through the mitzvah so that we become closer and closer to Hashem and that's why we get crowns because that celebrates the coronation that Hashem is giving us to have this level of tremendous greatness that we can come close to him and we can understand as much as we can forever and ever. And that's why we get the crowns of we are committed not only to doing but also to pursuing as much understanding as we possibly can so that we become close to him.
