Shnayim Yomi - Ki Tavo - Sh'vi'i - #7 - Reb Eliav Friedman - Every Yid Has a Share in Torah

Shavua Parshas Ki Savo, it's been amazing spending this week with you. I hope that you've enjoyed the drashos. I hope that they've given you some inspiration, at least something to say at the table. Last thought for the week. At the very end of the parsha, the Kodesh Baruch Hu says to Klal Yisrael, "When I saw you guys, you didn't know, you weren't thinking, you weren't with me until today." Rashi says that he heard a pshet that on that day, Moshe Rabbeinu gave a Sefer Torah to to the Shevet Levi. And all of Klal Yisrael came to Moshe Rabbeinu and they said, "Moshe Rabbeinu, we also stood at Har Sinai. We received the Torah." We received the Torah and it was given to us. "Why are you Why are you Why are you giving it only to Shevet Levi? They're going to take it, they're going to own it, and there's a time going to come we're going to say the Torah is ours and it's not yours." Now, Reb Yaakov Gezunter has a geshmake name. He asks a beautiful question. How could that possibly be that Shevet Levi would ever say ever say to the rest of Klal Yisrael, "The Torah is ours and it's not yours"? It says throughout the Torah that it's obviously talking about all of Klal Yisrael, not just one Shevet. Number one. Number two, there are mitzvos that are that are for anybody but a Shevet Levi. Ma'aser, yeah, giving to There are so many mitzvos that that are that are for Bnei Yisrael and not for Shevet Levi. How How could it ever come to pass that Shevet Levi would look at Klal Yisrael and say, "It's ours and it's not yours"? Reb Yaakov makes a beautiful beautiful beautiful chiddush and he says like this, "The Kabbalas haTorah is two different things. Receiving the Torah and all the zechus of mitzvos is another thing. That the Torah is being given over to Klal Yisrael, that the chachmei Yisrael have the ability to learn of the Torah, to understand it, to darshan it, and to to have a certain ba'alus over it, that it's it's theirs, to be mechadesh chiddushei Torah, etc." Obviously, Shevet Levi can never say to Klal Yisrael, "The mitzvos are less yours than ours." That for sure would never happen. The mitzvos apply to all of Klal Yisrael. But what Shevet Levi could say to the rest of Klal Yisrael is, "The mitzvos are for you, too, but the Torah, the chiddushei Torah, the learning Torah, the being darshan Torah, the being able to come up with drashos and to and to learn things out new things out, that was only given to us. That's Meduic in the Rashi also. Yeah, I'll be sure we got we got the Torah. I was given to us as a is the being able to be things. That's a special gift that gave and he didn't only give it to he gave it to all of and that's why he says finally you're fighting for what's rightfully yours. Finally you're fighting for Torah. You want to fight for something, fight for your right to be good at Torah. It's been a beautiful spending the week with you. Just have a wonderful wonderful Shabbos and continue with the greatest gift you can give to yourself.
