Shalom Aleichem, welcome to Schneim Yomi for Parshas Acharei Mos and Kedoshim. Yasher Koach and Tiskal Hamitzvos for all who are following this amazing journey. We begin this week's Parsha with the description of the Avodah the service of the Kohen Gadol on Yom Kippur, which took place not just in the Kodesh, but also in the Kodesh HaKodashim. We read this Parsha every year on Yom Kippur, and the first Aliyah, which is really two Aliyos, it's combined, describes how the Kohen Gadol went through a process of bringing multiple korbanos, various sacrifices, which included bulls and goats and special incense which he brought Lifnei VeLifnei into the Kodesh HaKodashim. We read about this in the section that we have in the Yom Kippur Mussaf called the Seder HaAvodah, whether you're Sefardi and you say Ata Konanta or in the Ashkenazi you say Amits Koach. You're going to read through what thing you will notice when you read through the Pesukim here is that there is a series, which is different than it appears in your Machzor, and that's because the Gemara says in Maseches Yoma that the Kohen Gadol actually had to go to immerse in the Mikvah five times, and he had to wash his hands and feet from the Kiyor 10 times. And for that reason, the Torah Sheba'al Peh slightly changes the order, the sequence of the Kohen Gadol's Korbanos according to the Pesukim by introducing one more time that he would go into the Kodesh HaKodashim to remove the fire pan from the Ketores. One highlight in this Aliyah is that the Torah describes "Vehol Adam Lo Yavo Ohel Moed", nobody, no person, and the Talmud Yerushalmi says even a Malach, even an angel, is not permitted in in the Ohel Moed, in the Heichal, in the Kodesh, as long as the Kohen Gadol was going Lifnei VeLifnei to the Inner Sanctum in the Kodesh HaKodashim. The question is, why? So, says the holy Reb Meir Shapiro, the Lubliner Yeshiva, the founder of the Chachmei Lublin Yeshiva, and the founder of the Daf Yomi, he says the Kohen Gadol is representing all Jews, all of Klal Yisrael, all of us in achieving atonement of bringing us closer to Hakadosh Baruch Hu on Yom Kippurim. If one person were there, perhaps it would divert the Kohen Gadol's attention to focus on that in one individual, and that's not acceptable. Today, on Yom Kippur, the Kohen Gadol is the shaliach, the agent of all Jews, and therefore nobody else can be there. It's just him representing all of us and Hakadosh Baruchu meeting in the Kodesh Hakodashim.
