PESACH IN DUBAI!!! (Passover 2022)

I don't know why but in my head I was thinking that I'm gonna lose weight over Pace that but apparently apparently it's not gonna happen hello and welcome back to my channel thank you for being here as we are getting back into regular programming I wanted to share with you a little bit about what our pesach and Dubai was like pesach otherwise known as Passover is the holiday in which Jewish people celebrate their freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt foreign [Music] I am in a car wash having the car cleaned repair stock all over the New York area the tri-state area in the United States people are getting taken advantage of people are charging 50 100 200 for a car wash here in Dubai I'm having my car cleaned for 35 Dirhams that's less than ten dollars inside and out so whoever says the Dubai is an expensive place they don't know what they're talking about these guys are working very diligently to clean my car and I'm thinking all of them are from Muslim countries I don't know how much money they're making per hour but it's probably not a lot there's also a very good chance that they've never met a Jew before in their entire lives so I'm going to give each one of them a 10 Durham tip that's a little bit less than three dollars and that's very generous for what they're making and I want them to know the Jewish people are nice Jewish people kind and I want them to remember that forever I'm gonna make their day very nice thank you tender house for you here you go tender hands for you thank you for you thank you you did a great job okay have a great day thank you you're the man high five While most people celebrate pesach at home there are many people who go to hotels that offer a pesach program in order to skip all the difficult preparation for the holiday I believe this is the main Ballroom where we will be eating all the meals over pesach quite large morning December of 2021 Mr Israel schenfeld who's the owner of shamefeld Tours in benebra Israel reached out to me and asked if I'd be able to come join their pesach program which was going to be happening in Dubai my role as part of the face app program was to give lectures talking about my story my travels to some of the most fascinating places on Earth and the lessons that I've learned throughout my travels so being that Dubai is not yet the center of Jewish life there's a lot of Jewish life here but uh it's not not so many Jews here so sometimes it can be complicated to get Jewish items if you need a religious Jewish item to be complicated but the fry them over here he is a very special man radio personality in Israel it's a very popular radio program and he runs the Dubai culture Safari so every Tuesday here in Dubai you can go to the desert with him eat an awesome kosher Arabian dinner dinner show it's a lot of fun friends here for pesach and he was kind enough to bring my Talus my new prayer shawl to Dubai Israel thank you I'm trying so let's go get it so here we go call us I wrote I was looking very hard for someone to bring it and a friend to clear it wow thank you so much thank you very much dear tadek oh there's your uh keep doing awesome things this Dallas is gonna go from Dubai to places I don't know you're not not allowed to say we don't know yet it is evening in Dubai and I'm running errands I have to pick up a package of Becca shoes if she recommends long coat which we wear on Shabbos holidays I had a noob extra custom made and was brought from New York to Dubai by a friend of mine who rented a house here for pay stuff check out this house ridiculously large I just picked up my back of sure this is the new suit that I'm be wearing for Paisa made by funo in Brooklyn try it on tomorrow properly so it's Eric yamtuff Passover pay stub starts tonight and I'm at a tailor shop here in Al satwa it's one of the neighborhoods of Dubai and we're gonna get this new Atara this new lining put onto my Palace they're doing it on the spot [Music] that was beautiful right across the street I had a Pakistani man who just sewed on the lining to my Talus to my prayer shawl and on the talus on the prayer Charlotte now says that means God He Who blesses his nation of Israel with peace good afternoon it's only a couple hours before pesach Passover is starting I'm at a store called MMI which is an alcohol store here in Dubai I need to buy some kosher wine for the holiday and I need to bring my passport because I was here earlier and they didn't let me buy anything because I didn't have my passport so I'm heading back again okay so this is the kosher one section it's small but there are some kosher ones so this is a special delivery that I had brought in from New York this is a massage or a matzo cover you put your matzas inside for pesach for the Sailor that says Zion's family Mavis which means for freedom to slavery and here there's a verse about how God took us out of Egypt and that's why we're celebrating and we have to tell our families about it so thank you so much to prestige Embroidery in Brooklyn for making this beautiful beautiful matzo cover it has the UAE flag and sometimes if you really can't find what you're looking for you have no choice but to improvise the holidays starts in about two hours and I'm in a bit of trouble traditionally on the first night and on the second night of Passover the man is supposed to wear a special long white robe called a kettle which symbolizes purity it also symbolizes the fact that one day we're all going to move on from this world because in the Jewish faith somebody passes on they are dressed in a white robe a shroud before they're buried I forgot to bring so walking around here trying to find an Arabic white robe a kandura hello and so far no luck hello when I I'm trying I'm still trying this neighborhood is predominantly inhabited by people from Afghanistan and Pakistan and um they've honestly been quite friendly as you can see oh my wife wants to know where I am so I'll tell you where I am I am in Old Dubai because I had to leave al-satwa the last neighborhood I was in everybody was praying Friday during Ramadan and everyone was praying at the mosques and most of the stores were closed and I was not able to find a kandura a white Arabic robe so I'm running into the gold souk and the spice souk over here because those should be more open today and hopefully hopefully please guys I'll get what I need foreign I was here a few days ago and I left and this man told me that I broke his heart but now we're back how you doing welcome back thank you everything is good good you have a men's condura for me yes of course like this guys yeah yes big big size I am very big be honest I am honest we have very big sizes for big men okay good of course I needed to bargain a little bit but because I've spent so much time in the Middle East I got out of that market with a great deal do you think it's gonna fit me let's see no I need a bigger one Marathi with the Thai very nice [Music] okay so how much is it no no no no so you know you can't make sure I understand no no no he told me 100 so yes you make good price it would be much better very nice this is so cool so I came here in the store to pay my credit card and I showed this man what's your name sir Abdul Abdullah you're from where Iran Iran amazing I love I love your people and I want to visit your country very soon so I showed Abdul that three years ago I was here in Dubai for the first time and we took a selfie together isn't that crazy it's really crazy I love you guys you've been such friendly people here thank you okay thank you so much have a great day nice to see you again nice to see you too yes yes okay okay next time next time very soon have a great day I love coming to this place friendly people and uh just a good energy thank God I got my ropes and we out of here luckily I made it back to the hotel right in time and the next few days were beautiful okay it's Monday night the first night here in Dubai I'm about to go on stage to speak to a couple other people I'm a little bit nervous but I'm pretty sure God's gonna be with me and it's gonna work out great and my wife is with me so that's the most important thing thank God my talk that night and the rest of my talks went very well the next night we had the honor and privilege of having Mordechai and David known as the king of Jewish Music performed for the first time in the Arab world [Music] so pesach the second day is about to start and we ran out of the proper kind of matzah who do you rely on Chabad obviously they gave us beautiful masses thank you so much Rabbi Levy duffman Ruben and the whole different family and come out of UAE thank you for saving us as always we know we can rely on you overall the atmosphere was great and it was really nice getting to know so many new people and making new friends from all over the world and the food was great too there was so much food okay so we're just walking into lunch this is the desserts and all these different cakes cookies and pastries and more cakes and cookies and pastries and fruits and then more feels like it never ends Carving Station in this huge Buffet salmon another kind of fish potatoes meat blintzes chicken beef vegetables different kind of potatoes more chicken more beef sweet potatoes more vegetables vegetables and beef more beef and vegetables Fried Chicken and hot dogs then this is the salad bar hello [Music] flew by way faster than I could have imagined and before I knew it it was almost time to go home the summer is here we're at the mimuna Moroccan comets Festival which happens right after pesach she has Donuts I have wine a thyme music and alcohol and pizza and bagels and we're having a grand time [Music] since the Abraham Accords Jewish people have been so warmly welcomed in so many parts of the Arab world I cannot stress enough how important it is for all human beings to find a way to connect and focus on our similarities as opposed to our differences I firmly believe that through all of this new connectivity we can build a better and brighter future for all of humanity to end
