good
afternoon or evening i'm not even sure
what it's like 6 30 what time is it
it's seven so it's evening i'm at miami
international airport
in line waiting for check-ins a long
line and we are headed off to colombia
my first time in colombia and my first
time in south america
so
very exciting
okay so we're in the air
what i didn't tell you guys is that i'm
traveling with two other people they are
close friends of mine and i'm gonna
introduce you to them soon for now i
gotta eat dinner i got myself a sandwich
from a grocery store in miami with deli
sandwich
it's a couple of minutes past 11 p.m
we just landed in medellin
and
that was a longer flight than i expected
stopped through most of it but
it was very turbulent anyway so they're
deboarding the plane
three rows at a time
everyone's sitting here relaxed no one's
running anywhere
it seems like the fastest and most
reasonable system
so
it's kind of awesome
okay that's us
we are in what seems to be the longest
tunnel in the world
and we got in here probably like
we're still in
um
i feel very conf like comfortable with
this driver but
if i didn't i'd probably be worried by
now
[Music]
no there's darkness
it's a metaphor for girl
i
i know it's a matter for hope but
well tonight you come out of a tunnel
so we've arrived to the outside of our
hotel
the weather is amazing probably
somewhere in the
mid 60 degrees
fahrenheit
place looks pretty nice
okay so i'm going to give you a little
room tour
it's nice and modern uh
i'm happy with the size
it was hot in here when i came in with
ac is on now so that's all good and keep
in mind this whole place costs something
like 40 bucks a night
so i'm impressed
bathroom
shower
oh they got the rain head shower thing
big sink area or whatever
washing station i don't know what you
call it i'm not fancy like that
and there's probably some kind of view
outside but i can't see much now
hopefully in the morning pray the
evening prayers david marv
and get some rest tomorrow's a big day
good morning from a freshly showered
hasidic dude on his first trip to
colombia i'm in medellin
first time in south america
and it's
morning i just got out
of the shower as i mentioned earlier
i am rushing downstairs
because my oh
i just pressed upstairs
i'm gonna get my head on straight so i'm
rushing downstairs because my travel
partners
are
they say they have a waiting taxi
so don't want to miss them
hope they did not leave without me
so
we are in the taxi
on the way to the synagogue here in edin
and with my travel partners we'll
introduce you in a second um
just off the bat
the city looks way nicer than i thought
about it
i'm actually very impressed
we're in downtown there's a lot of
nice trees the streets seem to be very
clean
and
the buildings are beautiful
what's not to love
say hi liva
hey what's up guys
you all know him from
two previous videos he was in the
first afghanistan video and he was in
the
the miami
take an uber driver to dinner video
so
this is the
i guess the second time we're traveling
together because he lives in miami now
and i am with
his father as well
mr david levinson say hi
hi
he is
a very successful um estate agent
who also happens to be the father
of the girl who married my brother
so we're sort of like family
and
it's our first time taking the trip
together we recently moved from upstate
new york to
florida to cooper city florida
and he is
setting up the real estate business over
there
and bringing lots of people over from
new york so if you're looking for a
house in new york
or
so we got to the synagogue to the khabar
house
this is the room where
we shall pray
there is no minion today
but
we're gonna dive in anyway
and
this is my tallest bag from prestige
embroidery
so we got
rachel's tomb kevin rocco the castle 770
burj khalifa bason mcdush eiffel tower
big ben sydney opera house the pyramids
and lady liberty that's my name in
hebrew
uh this is a verse from the torah
some more verses on the inside prayer
shawl thomas
two bags for my phylacteries
one with a canadian flag and one with
the u.s flag
they symbolize the countries where i
hold citizenship anyway now we're going
to pray my travel partners mentioned to
me
that their twilight bags are also from
procedure boarding he's kind of like the
schweinstein's ripple effect i get
something everyone wants to copy me just
kidding
this is
mr levinson's
this is live's bag
all custom made everyone chooses their
own design and they make it from a to z
so
if you're looking
for a tv bag you know what to call
prestige embroidery the link will be in
the description
and
those of you who know about khabad know
that khabar is always busy putting fill
in on people but now there's someone
putting tilland on
because
[Music]
he hurt his arm now a little nugget of
jewish information so
in judaism we have a concept called
that means that somebody who's doing a
mitzvah a positive commandment that god
commanders do will not be harmed so
therefore
we have a custom amongst jews that if
you're traveling i'll give you like a
couple pennies or a dollar to take along
with you to give to charity the place
you go
and then you're sort of a
somebody who's doing something good so
you're not gonna be harmed so the rabbi
in miami
gave me a buck
before we left
and now we are going to put it into
charity
yep doesn't fit
we got it in now we're safe
so now we're seated at the restaurant
house
we're starving
this is his breakfast
chicken and salad of rice for our
fries more chicken
oh thank you
this is a kebab
this is chicken it is 11 20 and we're
doing
meat for breakfast again just the way we
like it
okay so just go back to the hotel
a little bit annoyed because i put
my you know the tag on the door so that
room service should not come in
because i had all sorts of valuables
out
but they came in anyway
thank god i'm pretty sure everything is
here
but
they made my bed
so that's kind of nice so we came here
to drop off some stuff and now we are
going out
to explore the city fun
so one of the reasons why i love travel
so much is because it always surprises
me look at this beautiful hotel that i'm
leaving right now
um
really gorgeous
was not expecting colombia to look like
this at all a lot of nice buildings it's
very clean there's a we work right
across the street
you know we're getting into the taxi now
and explore the city
oh
okay so we just arrived at some
some spot not even sure what it's called
but there should be a look out of the
city
and there are
some
souvenirs and stuff
what is this place
so the ground is full of these
flowers
that have fallen from the tree oh
another one over here
what a nice touch
and
there's the midday inside you got to
take you got to take a picture there
it's a thing
fresh fruit juices
so we are on some kind of rooftop i
think it's a museum
they have a
outlook
overlook whatever you call i'm not good
with words today
on the city of medina it's really
beautiful because you got all the
mountains
and then the
little neighborhoods in the mountains
and then the tall buildings spread all
around
beautiful kind of beautiful city
really not what i was expecting when you
think of colombia you think of murder
you think of drugs you think of cocaine
you think of crime you think of all
sorts of nasty stuff but so far all
we've seen
is
nice people
nice scenery
and a lot of people are trying to sell
us things by the windows
so we are at the museo de antioqua which
is
some kind of museum
there's a there's a lot of statues here
some of them are a bit inappropriate
and
the taxi driver who took us here told us
that
there's a lot of look up here a lot of a
lot of craziness and boy was she right
a lot of interesting people approaching
us trying to sell all sorts of things
all sorts of services
um
busy very busy
i already got one
we're good on that front
[Music]
hello
[Music]
hello
it looks like we're about to see some
street performers
let's see what they have to offer
thank
i think i'm about to lose my shoes
okay
i don't speak spanish yet
hey
thank you thank you i have no idea
what's going on but my sneakers just got
souped up
and now we have these cool
button holes or whatever they're called
[Applause]
now he's going to do
[Music]
i'm pretty sure i'm gonna break the
stool
make it exciting
yes
we certainly
got scammed and overpaid
for those
sneaker buttonhole thingies and now
we're being followed everywhere by
people are trying to this woman's
literally walking behind me with her car
and she's trying it
no thank you no thank you no thank you
it's getting a little bit intense
this guy keeps reinventing himself like
a second ago he was selling hats now he
has
he got a box of food everyone's trying
to sell something i'm sorry i know i
have i have thank you i have hand
sanitizer
but to be quite honest
i think i'm speaking for the group when
i say we probably had enough of this
place and we can move on to another spot
you can maybe find something a little
bit less intrusive and evasive no this
is interesting but just for like two
minutes yeah it's interesting like you
want to do it once in your life but then
you don't want to do it again been there
done that we're about to lose all of our
money
so
yes i mean the ones we have in our
pockets at least
twenty eight dollars that's how much it
cost to get these
the halls
in the shoes eighty thousand pesos for
those that want to calculate
the exchange rate
yeah so these guys are going to town
tonight they're going to take all their
friends out to eat
probably never got such a big fish in
their life
i should mention there is quite a heavy
police presence here so even though you
can smell marijuana all over
and
i'm sure there's a lot of other illegal
activity going on there is a police
presence so it does like kind of feel
safe meaning it doesn't feel like
anyone's going to get violent with you
am i right
yep
okay so
just an fyi for those thinking of
visiting
you
