my feet tell me rule Oh shallow Shalom everybody hi I'm here in the beautiful Pacific Palisades which means nothing that probably anyone there but it's otherwise known as Malibu check out the Sun just set over the Malibu mountains there those are all the different headlands where I grew up surfing and came in for my mother's 80th birthday and we just got a is the front of their house very beautiful place got in this morning flew in straight from here it's a stroll so far I had quite a day davin yoga jacuzzi massage and then took my father round to doctors all babies really mm-hmm amazing like I have to like fill in all the honoring of my parents that I miss living in Aaron Cicero but I guess then maybe there's no greater honor to honor our parents have been living Holy Land anyway meanwhile you just want to share a little thought about face huh coming up and it's really an interesting thing and with its kind of uh you know right I learned what I'm about to say from my wife cuz you know my wife's a bit of a lightweight when it comes to mind altering substances so the the is base to you I've even a bigger leg baby anyway but there we were a seder night she decides she's going for wine by the time she had had her second cup she's plastered and can barely function for the rest of us ater and then we said to ourselves selves how are we supposed to conduct the seder after having two full cups of wine and I'm also like I'm highly sensitive so I was also smashed and I'm supposed to be leading this thing and yet all of us all of this is all of Israel's supposed to be doing this and it's it's a bit ridiculous because there are people who drink grape juice which if you look in the halacha there's just no room for that it's that's for like people who are either part of the Alcoholics Anonymous or it's for the infirm okay and I don't think anyone watching this is infirm although you may be part of Alcoholics Anonymous anyway the we're supposed to be drinking wine red wine strong red wine and it should be fairly potable which would be helpful you know so you want to get some good strong red wine but we're drink two cups run an empty stomach we're going on for hours and hours so it's not like we've eaten anything you know a little bite of a potato dipped in salt water exactly filling and and so here we are in empty stomachs and drinking all this wine and and I couldn't I can't drink one cup of wine without being tipsy two cups of wine them smashed and we're supposed to continue so what is going on here and there are two other times by the way where we where we're fulfilling a mitzvah in a kind of a very altered state another one is poram fulfilling the mitzvah of you know the downloaded poem really comes in unconscious that's why lit Fox for example are allowed to sleep a little bit on form date to fulfill their their odd Deloria duck because the downloaded perm comes when you're unconscious and so either you have to drink to get there meaning where you you got goodnight mesquita anyway so so the wine is mind-expanding cuz this is all about going from the narrow streets to the expansiveness and so this wine takes us to the the expanded consciousness of you'd see estimates right because it's brought down in its foreign that Egypt represents narrow consciousness and leaving of ancient represents expanded consciousness and we're going into this you know makes banded space man a mate's acrostic on on a memento from the narrow straits I called to God and he he answered me with with expansiveness so this wine brings us to that expansion the other thing about wine is its covenant you know whenever we're doing anything having to do with the covenant with God it's always over wine and wine is covenant so that's why during the nine days of the destruction assembly we can drink any other out like and drink Jack Daniels we drink beer you can drink tequila but you cannot drink because it's coming into our connection with God as been has been broken by the lack of a Jerusalem being built so we don't find that way anyway so this wine expands us and it's our covenant with God and God wants us in this like a higher place for the Seder to be in that in and also brings joy wine gladdens the heart of man and it brings us to a joyous place which is where we fulfill myths was at a joy and so anyway this Pesach just go with it man just go drink the wine go with it our sages knew what they were doing you can hack it you know just enjoy the wine make look I'm and bottoms up and get into the Seder get the joy going and and you're generally gonna act out the seder much better if you've had some wine you know your kids will have a much bigger blast with the way you you know present the 3d level of leaving Egypt for the children at the table you'll do better having had a couple cups of wine you know getting into the spirit of that kind of thing I mean I get dressed I have a Ferro mask in a robe and my wife has well you know another taskmaster Matt we come out with whips and start beating people and stuff in the middle the Seder okay so try to do that sober mm-hm anyway show them everybody blessings from
