i appreciate the opportunity to uh to
talk to you about why i'm seeking
re-election how important really this
election is
we started out approximately four years
ago with governor christie changing the
way the state does business lowering
taxes making government smaller
making teachers and other unit people
accountable for their jobs
it's been a long road
in the last three and a half years we've
accomplished a lot of balanced budgets
lower taxes no tax increases are going
forward from the state and certainly
we've made accountable both teachers and
other government people for their
actions as well as shrinking the size of
government
that's really putting the government on
the right path and putting the state on
the right path and i think it's
important to know through that we've
grown the job market over 130 000
private sector jobs uh making new jersey
uh eligible for business right for
business and open for business and those
are key factors
that i think are important for us
we have to take a look at the sandy
storm and how this really devastated the
state multi-billion dollar industry 40
000 people displaced homes destroyed
infrastructure destroyed and i think the
governor has done a wonderful job in
getting us back on our feet and heading
in the right direction but he did so
part of his team and we are part of his
team as a senator for the 30th district
i've worked closely with governor
christie i've had the opportunity to
spend a lot of time with him i was the
only legislator that went with him to
israel last year and and built a good
bonding with him on that
he's called me we've discussed many
issues down here uh concerning for
example route 9. he understands how
important it is to to lakewood in parts
of the 30th district through howell and
that's why he put six million dollars in
this budget to start the ball rolling on
rappon take a look what's happened on
the garden state parkway they're doing
major work both on route 70 and on cedar
bridge we're doing uh exits next full
interchanges right here in lakewood to
lessen the traffic of surges that happen
he's also extended that into toms server
and bricktown so the whole region starts
to see a better traffic flow based on
the increase of population in the area
so there is a recognition through the
governor through the state uh that we
have to do something for the
infrastructure here and that he's part
of that that pushing forward on that i i
think it's important for us to realize
that governor christie having the team
supporting him in trenton makes a
difference and i'm part of that team and
i'm glad to say i'm part of the team
that i'd like you the opportunity to go
back with him for another four years to
certainly finish the job he started four
years ago getting the state on the right
track and again certainly putting us in
the right position for the future of new
jersey and their citizens
just on a side issue you know sometimes
people just don't understand what goes
on in trenton um i recently had a bill
signed into law by the governor the
tanning bill
now someone say what's what is tanning
but what how important is a tandem bill
in these economic times
i've worked on this bill for two years
with the american cancer society
because we've seen a rise in cancer in
young people and children
and very very honestly it was linked to
tanning beds melanomas
in some cases kill people
we went ahead and banned children from
using tanning beds in this state
and the american cancer society and
myself were diligently honestly this
past and of course governor christie
signed it i'll tell you how effective
this is the federal government now is
inducing legislation do the same thing
because the connection between tanning
beds and cancer in young children we're
talking about children people under 18
is a fact and if we can prevent cancer
or the heartbreak in some family having
cancer in their child we want to be
there i want to be there so i think
sometimes when you look at things in the
face of it and say what a tanning beds
have to do with anything it has to do
with fighting cancer for children it has
to be doing the right thing you know we
do the right thing for the entire state
we do the right thing for for those of
us that live in the 30 district as a
father of four i certainly don't want to
see one of my children god could have
cancer and if i can say i help prevent
it in other children to me that's a
success story so as we take a look at
legislation we do things that affect
lakewood and the 30th directly we also
do legislation for the betterment of the
entire state of new jersey so i thank
you for the opportunity to listen to me
and i certainly hope that that you give
me your consideration to go into voting
booth on june 4th to vote in the primary
and know that certainly i'll continue to
do the fine job for you that i've done
in the past and that i put my
constituents first
