Sefiras Ha'Omer
The Rav examines four central halachic disputes among the Rishonim regarding Sefiras HaOmer. In particular, the Rav analytically explains the approach of the Behag to Sefiras HaOmer, an explanation which touches on Sefiras HaOmer in particular and kevias moadim in general. The shiur also delves into the mitzvah’s spiritual import, portraying Sefirah as an ascent from impurity to holiness, reflecting the Mekubalim’s view of its inherent aveilus. Finally, it connects the Omer to a shift in Divine providence: from the supernatural hashgacha al-tivis of the Exodus and wilderness, where miracles defied natural order, to the hashgacha tivis in Eretz Yisrael, where life aligns with Torah under a natural framework, marked by the Omer offering and a new reliance on human effort in a divinely guided world. The Rav develops that it’s under this very framework that teshuva, repentance, is possible.
