you have a set of values that you hold with total conviction without any doubts but you're not feeling it you can feel like a faker you can feel this ingenuous you can feel hypocritical and that causes a lot of tension if you're a teacher you're there to share certain values with your students but you're not really feeling it right how does that feel you're a parent you want to share certain values with your children but you're not really feeling it in your heart or you're a spouse or whatever type of position you're in you're there to communicate some sort of value and employ but you're not feeling it in your heart that can hurt that can cause a lot of tension and a lot of confusion what do you do in 1952 there was a person who was teaching Tanya classes he was teaching about the soul he was teaching to a large group of people but the tension between what we want and where we should be where we are and the various tensions that human that we experience in the spiritual quest to discover our true selves what the Tanya is all about and people were really enjoying it people were inspired but there was one problem the teacher was not very excited about it he felt this ingenious it felt like a faker and he wrote to the rabbit and the rabbit effectively gave him a mindset shift to help him he told them effectively and I'm paraphrasing that if you see yourself as a preacher preaching at your students they're inspired and you're not you might feel like a faker and that's a problem but in Judaism we don't see ourselves as individuals we're all part of one body of people the famous story or Marshall where somebody's banging in a nail and one hand hits the other one the other hand's not going to take revenge on that on that hand right we're all one person all part of one thing the reason I used to say video on your Kippur even though he didn't necessarily sin because we're all one-bodied people and he was saying it for other people some people are the head some people have the toenails and everywhere in between and if we adapt that attitude long as one part of the body gets inspired that inspiration will travel ideally the inspiration would you know you want to start with the mouth the teacher and end up through the ears the students but over here it's going backwards it's starting with the ears and it's going to go to the mouth it will travel if we adapt that attitude Don't Preach at people be with people that's my story and I'm sticking to it
