Rosh Hashanah: Remembered with Love | Rabbi Uren Reich

There's an interesting observation about the Tefillos of Rosh Hashanah. In זכרונות, we refer to many, many different things. We don't explain the background of the זיכרון of the דור that came out of יציאת מצרים, and various other things that we mention. The one thing that we mention in great length is Noach. and we explain the whole story. Why are we talking so much about Noach on Rosh Hashanah and what is the lesson for us? There’s a very profound lesson. Noach is called by the Torah a ‘צדיק תמים’. And yet I believe if we would look, we would get a video of what Noach was doing every day, it would seem to us very mediocre, in terms of צדקות. Any time he borrowed money, he paid back. Any time he was charged for money, he paid. What's the greatness of being honest? And the Torah says In his generation, this was a temptation. And therefore, even if someone just did the right thing, it takes a צדיק תמים. And a person can become a צדיק תמים, by just doing the right thing, when there's an overwhelming temptation not to do so. also Noach, who's not like Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov, who's not like Moshe Rabeinu, באהבה זכרת you had fond thoughts about him, and you called him a ‘צדיק תמים בדורותיו’. And we come on Rosh Hashanah, and throughout the year, and we say to Hakadosh Baruch Hu, we’re not on the Madregas of previous generations, but any little thing that we do and we retain to hold onto our Madregas, when there's such overwhelming temptations in our generation and in all generations, we deserve for that ‘באהבה זכרת’.
