Retired NYPD Officer Joseph DiMattna Awarded For Saving Life

from time to time we have special people we always have special people but from time to time we find out about them and we' like we like to recognize them tonight there's someone special who did a fantastic deed in the community who would like to recognize tonight I'd like to turn the mic over to honorable Ray Co to make a presentation to a very special person thank you Mr Mayor I appreciate it uh Joe detina can you join us down at the party for a second [Music] I've known Joe for many many years he and my father were New York City police officers together I've heard a lot of stories about you Joe unfortunately in a meeting like this I can't really report a lot so but one thing that didn't surprise me was when I heard that you had attended to somebody who had collapsed at the fairways uh I knew that if somebody was in need you were the one person I would want nearby and I was very pleased to hear that you were able to help this man with CPR while we waited excuse me for um attendant to get there so if I could I'd just like to read this whereas Joseph detina and fellow residents were busy at the fairways fitness center with their morning workouts on March 12th 2011 it was then that one resident became ill falling unconscious to the floor and where as Joseph detina was using the next piece of equipment and quickly came to the rescue Mr detina attended the stricken resident applying life-saving resuscitation techniques into the Lakewood Police Department and Lakewood Township EMS arrived this prompt action was instrumental in Reviving the resident and possibly saving his life and whereas Joseph detina is being honored for having the knowledge the capability and the strength of character to help to help a fellow resident in distress it is good to know that there are heroes in our Township the township of Lakewood and the fairways Community is blessed to have this retired New York City police officer as one of our own now therefore be resoled that he Minaj Miller the township of lakeood New Jersey is hereby honor Joseph detina for his outstanding dedic a and commitment to the community he is an inspiration to us all [Music] [Applause]
