Oy, oy, oy. With the upcoming days of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot, I wanted to share a story that happened to me last year of Pesach when I got pulled over and the officer claimed I was speeding and on my cell phone, which I don't think I was. And then the officer tells me my car registration was expired for too long that he would be required to tow the car. Now, it was Pesach and he'd be giving me too many points that I'd actually lose my license. I really wasn't sure what to do. I had this idea a couple years ago to basically make one of those sticker shields over the front windshield of my car and to make one with the picture of Reb in there. I designed one and I never did anything with it. So, I had it on my phone. I decided to pull it up and show it to the officer. He looks at it and he tells me literally, "Let me see what I can do." Goes to his car and comes back a few minutes later and he says, "With the registration ticket, I'll just give you a regular ticket registration ticket as long as you commit to renewing the registration today. With the cell phone ticket, too much money, too many points. What I'm going to do is I'll just make believe like I didn't see it. So that so you don't lose your license. And as far as the speeding, I'll lower it to a much lower speeding ticket so that uh you don't get so many points. I thanked him. I was glad I didn't lose my car and my license out of Pesach. I quickly went to go renew my registration. Later on I went out to the court zoom. Prosecutor told me that he would be able to waive the registration ticket and as far as the speeding ticket, he could lower it to a just a turning ticket or something with no signal with no points. And pay a $444 fine. A few days later I got a notice in the mail saying that I had to pay a $100 a month fine from the state for having made this turn with no signal four times in a row and there's a penalty for 6 months. I reached out to the court. They told me it was a mistake [music] on their part. The only option was to speak to the judge, but they don't they don't usually like to reopen the case and it is what it is. I opted to email the judge anyways and she was willing to reopen the case. She felt terrible. She ended up lowering the fine to $120 flat with no points.
