Rebbetzin Rochele Fogelman, 98, Shlucha of Rebbe Raayatz & Rebbe for 78 yrs- RC Dalfin

This is a tribute to Rabbitson Rahul Fogman Rahul Basa. It happens to be that she [snorts] was my mother-in-law's sister, older sister. Both passed away within four months of each other. My my shria passed away on the 14th of Tamos and Rahul passed away on the 6th or 7th of Khan. Rahul was a from the and our for 78 years. She was 98 when she passed away. She had yim. She raised a beautiful family the fogmans. She was married to the perial folder the known and of the just a little bit about her background. She was born here in New York, New York, New Jersey. She was born in this area and um went through the depression years and uh it was tough and they lived for a while in Jersey City and then they lived in the Coney Island. Her father was involved with one of the yeshivas there. And her mother, a blessed memory, Basia Magnus was a top educator. They were living in Jersey City cuz her husband had a over there. He had a position as a a rabbi and I think Rabbitson Kaplan. No. And and Arabson Min Mandel, the Mandel family who are the founders of the Brooklyn Yeshiva, I believe. So she went with one of her sons, I think, Pinas Penny. This is written up in the book about one of the Mandels and she they slept with a ferry to Jersey City. This was in 1936 I believe to ask Raul's mother Basia to move over to Williamsburg to help start a school for girls baser and all of that. And her she sat down with her husband and they agreed and they moved over to to Williamsburg I believe. She was a tremendous educator. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, health, there wasn't medicines. She passed away at the age of 42, a very young mother and left a husband and two girls. [clears throat] My mother-in-law Esther Magnus and her older sister Raul, she was two years older than Esther. The girls in a sense raised themselves and grew up and they were together in Byakov with Kenny Darren and Ruth Ruthia Axeladisha Axelad Axelad's only child his daughter the Simpsons the Simpson girls these were all and they weren't yet labavich you know they weren't really kabad the Simpson girls were but and oxelrod was, but uh the the Magnuses weren't, but they were drawn in. Rahul once told me that Rabbi Jacobson is credited for bringing her into into the Badich into Kabad and she told me she compared two Elderimum at the time. He said one was more to himself. He didn't have to do with the youth but Jacobson had so much to do with the youth not just the boys which we know he brought all those from base um from terraas they start and come to they became the first that opened up in 770 in 1940 it opened up elsewhere but that was the main place 770 anyway so he he also extended his reach to the girls and she was one of them. Not 1940 4142 but you know several years later. The kids briefly she met uh she became a a teacher I think in Buffalo cuz the repel repel folder before he settled and opened the yeshiva in 1946 I believe in in Worcester Massachusetts he was in Buffalo. Yeah. And that's where he met Raul who was a teacher. They needed teachers for for for girls in the Talm over there and someone made the shik I believe was Zakar I believe who made the shik between Rahul Magnus and Helu Foggelman. Zman was a very very close friend of of of of Hesshel from 770 from the early 40s and they went their was wor and guess what Rabai they never left worester for 1946 I think she was 1920 years old till 9 70 to 98 78 years she was dedicated Even after Hershel passed away years ago, she stayed on and her son Mendel took over, you know, the running of the programs. This is the life of Ashla. In 1952 or 53, she asked the Reba if she could bring a group of her students and people she teaches in the community. And the Reba said yes. And then the and then the Rebba asked her to write down everything that was said and the Reb checked it. It was MG and it came out later as a publication edited by the Reb. she had a in a way an open door and and and because I don't know if because of this but the fact that she and her sister were were orphans and they dedicated themselves to the to the work of the even went with my bransky in 1959 when they got married to Australia and that was one of the conditions the said you're marrying him you should know you're going to you Sure. He's moving to to Australia to do to do work and uh she consented. So they saw in in in both in in herself and in they saw genuine kabad and they went along with it and she became a powerhouse in the kabad movement. This is talking about the 50s. She was you know amongst the leaders and she met and mushka you know she was the representative of that whole region and talking with her over the years and asking her about different historical things. She was always very forthright but yet patient and calm and it was very easy to speak with her. had a calmness you know she raised a beautiful family the fog men's menal well there was Kf the older son who passed away during the lifetime of the parents it was a big and then there's mendle the over there in Worcester Ley who's a and and in nic near near them somewhere and who's uh in California an askin for kabad and he's done many of the gazak over the years everyone has children grandchildren it's a beautiful family and it comes a time when you have to hand over the battalion fog has a beautiful family he grandson 11 is the r of the kabad at Pico Shul on Pico Pico Boulevard whose name is Palim and there's other children who are and doing work and they're all involved in Gutah and his daughter her daughter Shva Cheva Liberov married to Le Liberov he's also continuing different works and activities over there in Worcester as well so biker that you know when anyone passes away it's fair for the it's sad for their family and friends even if you're 98 years old can you imagine one sister made it was one month short of 96 my Esther and the sister Rahul is 98 and their mother passes away at 42 you'll say this reason that reason this is Hashem He wants one person to live to 42 and the other one to 96 and the other one to 98. They emulated their mother, their father. Their father remarried to move. They have a step brother Yeshua Magnus. He's a lead leading me very well respected. It's a family of rabbitics educators, real solid traditional educators. They should help that we should have only sim amongst in the in our family in this family and we'll be to with [clears throat] amen.
